^THE^ Drone

Why the fuck has it taken 18 hours to decide to shoot the fucking thing down?

"With pressure increasing to find the perpetrator, Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw, the airport's policing commander, said: 'Each time we believe we get close to the operator, the drone disappears; when we look to reopen the airfield, the drone reappears. I'm absolutely convinced it's a deliberate act to disrupt Gatwick Airport'."

Clearly a deliberate act. Just shoot the fucking thing down

I read that they couldn't be sure it wasn't explosive so couldn't shoot before now. It does look like someone is hooked into the Gatwick computers or monitoring meetings somehow. Feel so sorry for all those people Sad

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/12/2018 15:31

There’s also more than one...

FlibbertyGiblets · 20/12/2018 15:31

Come on now. You can't fire bullets with people in the vicinity without a care. Debris on runway, disastrous.

Planning needed first.

Cool yer jets.

ajandjjmum · 20/12/2018 15:40

Whoever it is, they should really pay the price. The costs incurred by business and individuals and the plans destroyed - just awful.

Tony2 · 20/12/2018 15:41

Why can't the plod get their own drone to crash into it? They're only small, tiny bit of debris, hard hats all round!

ManicUnicorn · 20/12/2018 15:44

What kind of knobhead gets their kicks out of causing so much disruption?

Glitteryfrog · 20/12/2018 15:45

Small, but unpredictable.

Not the same as setting up a road block and just waiting around a corner for a car to come to you.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/12/2018 15:47

Because there could be a chemical agent activated when it's shot down

Or there could be explosives

This is an attack - whether its domestic terrorism or foreign it very much seems like an attack

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/12/2018 15:49

My immediate thought was that it was the extinction rebellion lot.

Very easy to fly a drone over an airport without being within line of sight. I'm impressed at the organisation though - you o ly get 15mins or so flying time usually so they must be using a lot of drones.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/12/2018 15:50

They need to get some of these:

BarbaraofSevillle · 20/12/2018 15:53

The drones could have multiple batteries. DP has just bought a drone (it's not him btw, we're hundreds of miles away) and one of the things he looked for was an expansion pack, with a few extra batteries.

But now it's gone on for so long, it looks like it could be more than a couple of dickheads messing about for a laugh.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/12/2018 15:54

It's definitely organised. I'm guessing they're not actually flying them. Just sending them up with a programmed flight plan every half hour or so. Impossible to trace.

Dirtygirtyisthirty · 20/12/2018 15:55

Bet any money that it's a load of climate change crusties

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 20/12/2018 15:57

What kind of knobhead gets their kicks out of causing so much disruption?

The same kind that hacks into computers systems and brings companies to a standstill. The ones that get caught in the end which hopefully will happen soon in this case, too many tossers on the loose who think they are clever.

cjt110 · 20/12/2018 15:57

My poor sister in law is coming home tonight, with her 2 kids and is snagged up in this.

Bloody bastard people.

cjt110 · 20/12/2018 15:59

As in coming back to the UK, to be with family, with her kids. They live in a none christian country so the kids have special persmission to even be off school to celebrate. Plus the visas, flight costs,....

I am spitting feathers on her behalf.

I remember reading somewhere about the eagles getting hurt from the blades, so i don't know how far they got with that idea.

This could be so simple for anyone to do I hate that it might be giving people ideas, so many people own drones now. My other half has one, i hate the bastard thing. Its noisy, you can only use it in certain areas and its just anti social.

cjt110 · 20/12/2018 16:03

What kind of special arsehole gets kicks out of doing something like that?!

OP posts:
Dirtygirtyisthirty · 20/12/2018 16:06

Maybe I'm missing something but why don't they send up a counter drone that stays with 'the drone' in the sky and then follows it....someone has to come and collect the thing eventually and then they'll see where the operators are surely?

ginghamstarfish · 20/12/2018 16:09

Utter bastards, if they catch them they should be locked up for life. Hope the law on drones will be tightened up now, bringing it in line with how it is in other countries. Who really NEEDS one for personal use? Just another toy for most.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/12/2018 16:15

They don't need to collect it if they are willing to lose it. It's programmed to land somewhere random (and hopefully safe).

ManicUnicorn · 20/12/2018 16:16

I was sitting in my parents back garden this summer when one flew right overhead. It felt very intrusive.

ALongHardWinter · 20/12/2018 16:16

Just watched the lInk with the eagle bringing down the drone. Wow. It's amazing isn't it,what with all the technology available nowadays, but it takes a big fuck off sized eagle to do the job!

TheLittlestLightOnTheTree · 20/12/2018 16:18

Is it down now then?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 20/12/2018 16:24

Sadly, has been discontinued
