Just wondered really if people get bonuses at christmas time? We haven’t had them for a few years now as things were a bit tight but am hoping seeing as we have had a better year we may!

We get £150 every year. My friend’s DH just got a £10k one! But he works for a pharma company.

Stephisaur · 18/12/2018 18:04

We do, and it increases by £100 each year.

Most of mine is stolen by the tax man and student loan company!

AlwaysWantedToBeATenenbaum · 18/12/2018 18:07

We get every year - I’ve had a £300 bonus for the past 3 years and got a £500 the first year I was there. We’re in an oil company so the difference was because of the downturn.

Kezzie200 · 18/12/2018 18:08

My firm give bonuses

Mulberry72 · 18/12/2018 18:08

DH gets one (well two bonuses pa, other one is in June). The Christmas one is the good one that we look forward to.

It’s written into his contract as guaranteed which is great (and quite rare from what I can gather)

Shirleyphallus · 18/12/2018 18:09

I work in financial services (not banking) and we all have had a 25-40% of salary bonus for the last 10 years

scarylea · 18/12/2018 18:21

This gives me hope! I work within property and the bonuses used to be really good. Am hoping it comes back found! Hope you all enjoy spending your bonuses!

< swoons>

I work in the public sector. Bonuses exist, but not on THAT scale! and never to me anyway

BrokenWing · 18/12/2018 18:41

We get a performance bonus's in September, some free shares from a % of salary based on business performance, then some cash again a % of salary based on business and also personal performance. Combined value varies greatly each year from £1.5k - £5k

No specific Christmas bonus.

DowntonCrabby · 18/12/2018 18:50

DH is in oil, he got £250ish a year for most of his career, the downturn hit and he hasn’t had one for maybe 4 years (lucky to keep his job though!) He’s Just been told they are getting a 2.5% bonus in January, which is a huge amount more than £250.

I got a £16 bottle of fizz Grin

CMOTDibbler · 18/12/2018 18:50

We don't have a christmas bonus as such - well, office based UK workers get 2 bottles of wine and the home based workers get a £20 wine voucher - but our annual performance bonus gets paid in November or December. It used to be reliably November, but the UK don't get it till December 21st this year

MrsScamander · 18/12/2018 19:27

My last job we used to get a Christmas bonus (the yearly tips earnt divided by all the staff). Worked out at about £30, a nice little extra but didn't make up for the minimum wage grunt work and unpaid overtime worked throughout the year, or working every weekend and bank holiday Sad

hmmwhatatodo · 18/12/2018 19:32

Not a penny.

ChodeofChodeHall · 18/12/2018 19:33

Not at Christmas, but in May we get 10%-20% of our salary as bonus.

dream23 · 18/12/2018 19:36

Yes If the company hits target we get 50% salary bonus at Christmas Grin and also free shares

boringlyboring · 18/12/2018 19:39

My friend’s DH just got a £10k one!

😮😮😮😮

Littleelffriend · 18/12/2018 19:42

I’m in oil haven’t had one for 4 years but 6 per cent this year

Kikidelivers · 18/12/2018 19:43

That made me chuckle for some reason.

Kikidelivers · 18/12/2018 19:45

I initially thought £250k!

But £250? After the tax man has had his way, that is hardly enough for a tank of petrol

Lost5stone · 18/12/2018 19:58

Got £500 the first year, every year since company has been poorly performing. I'm not really expecting anything every again until I move businesses to be honest! There's a box of chocolates in the office kitchen for sharing though 😂

Woodman03 · 18/12/2018 20:11

I get KPI’s set for the year which I get one bonus on which is £8k and a profits related bonus which is going to be £6400.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 18/12/2018 20:17

I got £1,000 plus one month's extra salary.

Pandsbear · 18/12/2018 20:30

NHS worker - err no! What is a bonus??
I did get given a box of shortbread today from a lovely patient. I took it over to reception to share out as it was for all of us.

Holidayshopping · 18/12/2018 20:32

I got a lovely box of chocolates :)
