Just wondered really if people get bonuses at christmas time? We haven’t had them for a few years now as things were a bit tight but am hoping seeing as we have had a better year we may!

Holy crap, I thought I was doing well when I got £500!

Kikidelivers · 20/12/2018 18:59

his employee that’s done really well for the company this year is getting £20k bonus and £25k to be put forward for a deposit on a house.

It has To be for a house deposit? Why could it not just be £35k bonus?!

jazx · 20/12/2018 19:06

@Kikidelivers some sort of agreement between the employee and dh, could of been £35k but I think the employee wants it for his deposit when it comes to it.

Lovelydovey · 20/12/2018 19:14

Mine is performance related -anything from 0 to 25%, wth an average of 10%. I’ve always had between 15 and 25%.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/12/2018 19:39

NHS too
No bonuses but we do get an extra half day of leave (pro-rata) so if I CBA I'd work it out in £/hour

We do gets lots of nice chocolates and sweets, biscuits from patients.......which we then have to declare (though it goes on our Compliments/Appraisal)

Kikidelivers · 20/12/2018 19:55

Doesn’t make sense
If he wants it as a deposit that is his business surely? Why is his employer involved?

ForalltheSaints · 20/12/2018 19:56

I work in the public sector so we do not have them. Personally they cause more issues than never having them in the first place.

SushiMonster · 20/12/2018 19:59

@BirdieInTheHand

I get a 30% (ish) bonus. It's understood that its performance based (company and personal).

i don't see it as part of the "market rate" salary

So the bonus isn’t part of your market rate, you’d accept a new job of the same level, with the same base and zero bonus. Yeah right! As fucking if.

Flapjackninja · 20/12/2018 20:10

Small private company everyone gets a bonus ranges from £200 into thousands depending on job role and length of employment. We also get a paid meal with free bar and shutdown for 2 weeks. Im quite happy with that. Some of these bonuses are more than my annual pay! Xmas Shock

isseywithcats · 20/12/2018 20:23

a bonus at our place is the shift manager saying thank you for working at the end of your shift

Katerinablum66 · 20/12/2018 20:40

No bonus here ( nurse in nhs) and working nights over Christmas lucky me !

HunterHearstHelmsley · 20/12/2018 20:43

I work for a huge charity. We get £100 every 3 or 4 years. Not this year though.

hairymuffet · 20/12/2018 20:51

It's a very unfair world we live in Xmas Envy

Rhiannon13 · 21/12/2018 00:07

Before motherhood I was given a bonus of around £2000 each Christmas. Then, early on in my childminding career, parents always gave me cash in my Christmas card. Not for the last few years though. Some give nice presents which is lovely of them but others don't even give a card. Times have changed.

Unobtainable · 21/12/2018 01:20

£500 Christmas bonus this year. It used to be £5,000 in the good old days. Good job the annual bonus is still good.
