Work bonuses

Just wondered really if people get bonuses at christmas time? We haven’t had them for a few years now as things were a bit tight but am hoping seeing as we have had a better year we may!

We get 25% of annual salary as a bonus. But it's dependent on profitability.

Husband works for local authority and gets nothing and I am to unwell to work so the belts have been tightened yet again this year!

I get a bottle of red. My previous place gave us a guaranteed 2% Christmas bonus + potential for an extra profit-related one that we rarely ever saw That used to be lovely. The first year I worked there I got £700 and spent it between Christmas and New Year on a summer holiday to look forward to!

I am an administrator in a University so no bonus but our salaries are quite generous for the work we do so I don't mind. We get a freebie half day off as a gift and I actually prefer that - the taxman can't take my time!

I used to work in the private sector and one job gave bonuses. It was £300ish and by the time tax, etc had been taken off it was barely worth their while. The salary was atrocious for the amount of work expected too so it was a bit of a kick in the nuts.

Used to get no bonus but a sumptuous Christmas do, then company changed hands and it was M&S vouchers, no "do". Changed again and it was Christmas hampers.
Last year nothing as we were going through redundancies.

Hoped things would be better this year but nothing. No "do", no hampers, nothing.

We get a £200 love2shop voucher.

£500 last year, £250 this year. Nothing when worked for local council... obviously as public money. I've had vouchers before too which are appreciated. Anything is lovely :)

yep get one every year and also get a pay rise - we never 'expect' it but it's lovely to get - the company I work for is very generous though and treats us all like family so we work hard & get rewarded for it

I get the grand total of zilch.

Yes, but it's not really a Christmas bonus as opposed to the company happens to pay the performance related bonuses in December. I get about 20% salary, depending on how well the company does and how well I do, plus normally some deferred equity as well. Dh gets his in March.

£50 gift card

Best year I ever had was £2k bonus, plus £200 shopping centre (v large & local) gift card, paid for meal, offer of being taken to the "master" company formal dinner (didn't go, but would have cost a couple of hundred quid per person). Central Government days nothing. Currently temping on a shift by shift basis, got a card with a couple of (very nice) chocolate coins in from the supervisors - more than I got from some employers in the past!

We used to pay our admin people a bonus based on last year's profits. We told them how much it would be in April and they could take it when they wanted; they tended to take some just before their summer holiday and some at Christmas. Personally I would've taken it all straight away, stuck it in the bank and made a little bit of interest, but they said their way stopped them spending it.

It was normally about 1 to 2k

I got £800. It varies every year. We’re given ours in November ‘to help with the expense of christmas’ which I think is very thoughtful of the owner (we’re only a smallish business)

He also gives Christmas cards for everyones dc with a £20 voucher in each!

Self employed so no bonus. Some of my clients get me a box of chocolates or the odd bottle of wine, so it’s something.

We get performance bonus in May. Usually around 10% salary, I tend to put it towards a big "house project" - new doors, wooden floor, woodburner etc.

We get performance related bonus, it can vary from nothing to 25%

NHS so no, although one pt gave me a tin of biscuits, which I put in the tea room to share, and another one gave me a bottle of wine which I took home to share with DH.

I’m a 1:1 support worker in a school and don’t even get a card from the kid’s mum. My Christmas bonus is not having to work in the holidays!

DH gets £500-£1000 bonus, less tax obviously.

I'm self-employed and have explained to myself that a bonus is not any more possible this year than it was any other year. I have given myself three days off in lieu. Unpaid, of course, lol.

Dh gives his employees anything between £1k to £20k. This year about 5 employees will receive £1k, another 5 will get £5k each, two are getting £10k and his employee that’s done really well for the company this year is getting £20k bonus and £25k to be put forward for a deposit on a house.
Some will get bonuses such as £1k when they go on holiday in the summer.

Local authority so no bonus here. In fact, my authority have given management level staff a sort of reverse bonus by requiring them to take unpaid leave over Christmas to save money.

No bonuses in teaching.
