What’s happening in your house today?

All welcome, on your own or with an extended family of 30 Smile

I’m lounging in bed with coffee and Mumsnet while the DCs play with their Sylvanian Families.

The house is like you wouldn’t believe and DD has a friend coming at 3pm. I’m going to try to clean up the worst of it but need to be realistic.

Then going to make a plan for the week. Hoping to get out at 5 to see a friend’s choir perform locally, even if I have to go on my own. Ideally though I’d take the whole family and we’d have a Christmas outing (arguments optional).

You?

I’ve just had a shower and now lounging about mumsnetting and drinking coffee.

Need to do a bit of shopping later and tidy up ready for a break at Center Parcs tomorrow Grin

MaidenMotherCrone · 16/12/2018 08:58

Painting again. It’s never ending.
My lovely sister is visiting before she goes off on a Scandi cruise for Christmas so I’m looking forward to that.
DS3 is home from Uni but off to Iceland so I’ll get a little bit of time to see him (when he surfaces) before he goes.
If I get time I want to go and find some Christmassy candles.

SimplyPut · 16/12/2018 08:59

DH and I are on the sofa drinking tea and watching a twee Netflix festive film. I'm pottering online and he is writing the shopping list.

All DC's are still asleep.

We were away with the DC's Friday night and got home late last night so today's plans are more sedate.

Food shop, housework, deliver a few Christmas cards then off to the cinema to see The Grinch.

mumof2sarah · 16/12/2018 08:59

Was awake very early, lay in bed on my phone, then got up and made a brew. Been lay on the sofa since, watching a movie with a brew. DD2 came down, had breakfast and disappeared back to her room to play, DD1 is still in bed and DP is up on his laptop. We'll be making a move soon, going to do a pre-Christmas tidy up, get dressed and take DD2 to a birthday party at a soft play centre (yes I'm already dreading it) then I'm going to nip and grab some food bits I need and home for something quick and easy for tea, baths and then early nights. I've got a crazy busy week and I'm already dreading it lol. Have a lovely Sunday OP x

Pinkvici22 · 16/12/2018 09:02

Up early to get showered and packed for w couple of days away visiting family. Tried contouring my face and fear I’m looking stripy and shiny Blush

Last weekend of DC activities so just having breakfast.

Iwanttoseethesea · 16/12/2018 09:02

Just made a lemon drizzle cake. DH is preparing roast lamb for later then he's off to football with DSS.

My 2 DS are off to their dads this afternoon so I'll have the house to myself to wrap presents, drink Baileys and watch The Holiday !
Oh and only 3 days left at work ...

Hoppinggreen · 16/12/2018 09:03

Teen dd still asleep. DS10 waiting for his Fortnite curfew to end and DH still in bed watching Sky news while the dog keeps looking pointedly at me wanting his walk ( which DH will be doing when he gets up)
Very busy week next week so we are having a chilled day apart from sorting out the Xmas tree which fell over last night and caused carnage in the lounge

MariaNovella · 16/12/2018 09:04

I got up at 6.30 for a coffee. I filtered the huge pot of chicken stock I made yesterday; made some roasted parsnip soup and prepped an apple crumble. Put some washing on. DD is practising piano while waiting for her French tutor to arrive for a two hour revision session (mocks next week) and I shall have a bath, clean the bathroom and do some ironing and bed changing before lunch. DD has a birthday party to go this afternoon and DH and I will drop her off and go Christmas shopping while she’s there. This evening DD needs to revise and I will probably test her.

Littlelambpeep · 16/12/2018 09:04

We had a lovely fun day out yesterday and I batched cooked a beef casserole so no cooking today. Mainly washing and cleaning and sort the tree.. the dc helped to decorate it and it's all over the shop Xmas Blush

House needs good deep clean ... exciting times. Might treat myself to a Christmas movie later. Dc will play away here.

hidinginthenightgarden · 16/12/2018 09:04

Gym and then 5 guys for lunch.
It is DH birthday.

happypotamus · 16/12/2018 09:05

Am about to force DDs upstairs to get dressed and take them to church. Need to help them write their school and nursery Christmas cards, wrap my work secret santa present, tidy up a bit, write cards I need to post before I run out of time and miss the last posting date, sew on DD's brownie badges she got last week. Am working a night shift so hopefully will have a nap for a hour or so, make dinner, make packed lunches, get DDs ready for bed and get up their stuff ready for school and nursery tomorrow. Go to work for 12hrs of madness.

WWYDhelpplease · 16/12/2018 09:05

I’m in bed with a coffee. DS is beside me and DH in the other room (off a late shift).

Football club in a while for DS giving me a couple of hours to do some wrapping. House also needs sorted so I’ll be staying in my pjs today.

elQuintoConyo · 16/12/2018 09:05

We got back late from DS' birthday party last night, it was VERY LOUD, so we are taking it easy today.

DH and DS are watching a cute Christmas animation called Spike, i'm chilling on the bed with the dog. We're going to throw some clothes on in a minutesand take the dog for a walk in the woods. While there, we're going to "find" DS' Caga Tio (shitting log) who we'll feed until Christmas Eve when he poos put some presents for DS. DS is ridiculously excited.

Rain is predicted, so the rest of the day will be indoors playing games, making a giant lasagna, tidying up, hugging the dog - she's so warm and fluffy!

Kim82 · 16/12/2018 09:05

Today will be the usual Sunday routine of cleaning, washing, ironing etc to get ready for school/work this week. If the rain holds off I might get the kids out for a walk or to the park this afternoon then it’ll be back home for a roast, baths and early nights for all.

BillyAndTheSillies · 16/12/2018 09:06

Currently baking a Dutch apple pie. DS is playing with trains and DH is (still) in bed.
We are off to the IL's today for early Christmas as they're going away on Thursday until the new year so when DH surfaces he has been tasked with wrapping all the presents. He just doesn't know it yet.

SoapyBubbl · 16/12/2018 09:08

We're moving house! Well DH is doing the moving and I'm taking the kids (6 and 2) out all day to stay out of the way...

CuppaSarahsCuppaChristmasCheer · 16/12/2018 09:08

I've done some laundry and gotten dressed. Playing with the baby while my son watches music videos with me in the lounge. DD and DH are playing pacman in the next room. We're off to dad's for mini Christmas this afternoon and honestly everything is perfect today.

Mablethorpe · 16/12/2018 09:10

Still in bed, both DCs in their rooms, one reading, the other dozing, DH gone to McDonald's to get us breakfast.

Have tidying to do, not much as most of it was done yesterday but do need to get uniforms etc ready.

Need to go to town later to get my infills done (nails) and then we have the christingle service st church at 4pm.

hmmwhatatodo · 16/12/2018 09:12

Absolutely nothing so far. I appear to be the only one awake answer I’ve just had a cup of tea. I didn’t plan to go anywhere today. I’m currently looking at a pile of ironing waiting for me and I’m wondering when it was that I last hoovered. I think I should also cook something that can be eaten a couple of days through the week as it’s going to be busy busy busy!

BadgerWithSprouts · 16/12/2018 09:13

@elQuintoConyo I really need to know more about the shitting log, is this a christmas tradition and is it in place of father christmas or in addition? Where does it come from and how does it work?
Genuinely curious Smile

pinkpolo · 16/12/2018 09:13

I've just woke up, which is unusual for me as normally awake at 6! DH has gone to the local shop to fetch breakfast and a paper. I feel slightly hungover after drinking wine whilst watching the Strictly final.

We are going to finish off Christmas decorations this morning then DD and I will go and muck the horses out this afternoon. Hopefully the weather won't be as bad as yesterday (in the North West so stormy yesterday). Then tidy up, do laundry and get ready for our last week at work/school.

Pie and mash for dinner :)

GrumpyOldMare · 16/12/2018 09:13

Nothing at all.
1st day off of 5.
Total peace. No inane christmas music,no ''Grumpy, can you serve this customer, have you done this/that,can you run food''
Going to be a pj day, fueled by tea and the internet.

Scoleah · 16/12/2018 09:15

Sat on the Settee cwtched under a Blanket with my 2 year Old.
Daughter is still fast asleep, & so is my husband!
I'm reading the Xmas bargain threads as I haven't bought for my Parents/in laws yet!

Fevertree · 16/12/2018 09:15

Dd, baby Ds and I in bed watching muppets Christmas Carol. Husband has just brought us toast 😊 I've done a bit of online shopping and need to do a little bit of planning for the week. Happy!

Curlyshabtree · 16/12/2018 09:15

Friend and her DD coming for Sunday/Xmas dinner later, so all the prep for that plus finishing the pavlova. Got to make some chocolate fudge for teacher’s presents, make cheese biscuits for School Xmas shindig, tidy up, do some ironing and wrap some presents.
