It's all such a mess. I'm not a fan of Teresa May particularly, but I do think anyone would have struggled to make a success of Brexit after the referendum, so not entirely sure what replacing May will achieve. And also who on earth would replace her if the challenge is successful?

MiddlingMum - I've been insanely jealous of all these people with Irish ancestors who've dug out their family trees and claimed Irish passports.

icannotremember · 12/12/2018 18:05

all due respect that the north west is in its own little cultural enclave nowadays, all very quiet and nicely conformist

Eh? You think the satellite towns of greater Manchester fit that description?

Fatasfook · 12/12/2018 18:10

So we are going to get boris aren’t we. It’s been obvious for ages that this was always the plan.

@Sheridan90 thanks for posting that, it's one of the best things I've seen for making sense of a lot of this in terms of the logistics (as opposed to the politics or anything else). Very useful.

PebbleDashed · 12/12/2018 18:12

icannotremember - in many cases, compared to the Midlander cities, yes. Admittedly, we're dealing with societies and societies are never simple.

ForalltheSaints · 12/12/2018 18:20

The Tory alternatives are almost without exception worse.

We should have a vote on the deal.

MiddlingMum · 12/12/2018 18:36

@MiddlingMum I've been meaning to post that about leave voters doing the decent thing for ages but not quite brave enough!

I'm quietly confident May will make it through tonight's vote. Certainly I don't think there's much general public support for a change in prime minister at this point, so hopefully the politicians take note of that fact.

I don't like conservatives, but I'd rather have May follow through with the job than that slobbering rich but dim thick Boris.

I absolutely adored asking everybody how they voted and adored even more listening to their often hilarious responses. One of the best set of insights into human ignorance and resulting self sabotagevai have ever had the opportunity

you sound smug and superior but im guessing you would see that as a complement

MissyCooper · 12/12/2018 19:20

I live in Scotland. I can hand in heart say I don’t know a single person who voted lea e (or admitted to it anyway).

Obviously people in Scotland did vote leave. But I never came across one.

TSSDNCOP · 12/12/2018 19:35

I've just written to my MP stating how disgusted I am that he's written one of these letters at such a crucial time. If he stands at the next election I will abstain.

user1499173618 · 12/12/2018 19:55

Why not feel smug and superior when someone tells you in the same sentence that they voted for Brexit because they hate immigrants in the UK - and they are intending to move to Spain 😱

EffOrf · 12/12/2018 19:58

Maybe they want to move to Spain to get away from their smug, nosy neighbour

user1499173618 · 12/12/2018 19:59

Voting for Brexit rather puts paid to that ;)

MiddlingMum · 12/12/2018 20:07

Why not feel smug and superior when someone tells you in the same sentence that they voted for Brexit because they hate immigrants in the UK - and they are intending to move to Spain

Or when they tell you that the people who run the local Spar will have to "go home" now. It's hard to explain to someone that thick that Pakistan has never been in the EU.

MiddlingMum · 12/12/2018 20:09

^ This was said to my brother who still cannot believe that level of ignorance two years on. He's the most understanding bloke on the planet, but that was something else.

backaftera2yearbreak · 12/12/2018 20:14

I know someone in Scotland who voted leave. The man I live with. He’s from Northern Ireland and has had the bare faced cheek to apply for his Irish passport because he can after the good Friday agreement 😡

brizzledrizzle · 12/12/2018 20:41

he bare faced cheek to apply for his Irish passport because he can after the good Friday agreement 😡

Why is that bare faced cheek? He's doing what he is entitled to do.

MissyCooper · 12/12/2018 20:47

Haha don’t be so disingenuous

lljkk · 12/12/2018 20:53

HOW did Sheridan get that Gif posted??

(not quite missing point.... 7 minutes to go)

Talkinpeece · 12/12/2018 20:54

Are we there yet?

brizzledrizzle · 12/12/2018 20:57

Nothing on Twitter as yet.

SilkenTofu · 12/12/2018 20:58

Riots will happen when we get a No Deal Brexit (Accidentally or deliberately).

Who is going to riot? I thought most Brexiteers where flat cap n whippet owners from oop north or over 70? I doubt they will riot. Also, Brits don't riot really. They are too worried about missing Coronation Street or Eastenders. The riots a few years back were young silly people who didn't even know what they were rioting about.

WWYDhelpplease · 12/12/2018 20:59

Here we go.....
