How many staggeringly good looking people do you know in real life?

Just following on from my 'oh my god I've just discovered Richard Armitage' thread (and do watch North and South if you have not already done so!). Musing on how gorgeous he is got me thinking.

How many really good looking people do you know in real life? I'm not talking 'eye of the beholder' type beauty, but real, classical, can't argue with it beauty (male or female)? There's a girl works in our office who I think is just beautiful - she always looks so glamorous without being showy or too made up, long blond hair with a slight curl. Very elegant. She makes everyone else look like saggy puddings. And she's probably very nice too (doesn't work in my section, it's a big place).

It made me think how very few people I know or even see like this on a daily basis - most people are just very average looking (myself included!). I can't remember the last time I saw a really handsome man. I do remember a chap I saw across a bar when I was about 22, with the most amazing cheekbones. He was just beautiful. Not in a fancying kind of way, just in a 'I could look at you for hours' kind of way. But I genuinely can't think of any since. Plenty of men I have found sexy but that's different, the two don't always overlap.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well. Maybe I just move in the wrong circles! Maybe they are all celebrities these days.

None - but as an aside, can someone link to the Richard Armitage thread please?

Yes. He was blond, with amazing floppy hair, he was tall, he had blue eyes, he dressed well and smelled heavenly.

Perfection, really.

myohmywhatawonderfulday · 11/12/2018 21:59

My husband.

He is a builder and on one of his jobs women friends of the lady whose house he was working at would ‘drop by’ a lot. One of them said dh was the best looking person she has seen in real life!!!

I think/thought that too when I first saw him. It was like angels sang!!!

I am attractive but I was movie star amazing. (Sigh) when dh and I were together people did odd things - we would get waved at a lot, we also got things given to us for free for no reason... Two stone later and for some reason (age, pregnancy, stress) my hair is much much thinner now - I look good for my age but not like 11 - 15 years ago.

I once had a dentist who was shockingly stunning to look at . I used to cringe at the thought of him looking up my nose 😂 I also once met Liv Tyler who I know is famous and therefore doesn't qualify as much as my dentist darling but wow ! She was the most perfect glowingly stunning woman I've ever seen . She wasn't even wearing make up at the time

Philomensapie · 11/12/2018 22:03

A friend I had in Glasgow. He was absolutely stunning, in an androgynous way.

waxy1 · 11/12/2018 22:04

Up until around 2015 I worked with a woman who, from some angles, has Jane Russell’s face.

tigercub50 · 11/12/2018 22:09

My ex karate instructor I would class as beautiful. His smile could light up a room & he had the most amazing blue eyes. How I got anything done in his classes I have no idea!

E20mom · 11/12/2018 22:09

One of my siblings. Strangers remark about it all the time

Anothermothersusername · 11/12/2018 22:10

I can honestly say none.

MotherofKitties · 11/12/2018 22:15

Ive only seen one person who has made me stop and think wow, they're absolutely beautiful. On the day she started at my office people just stopped and stared at her. And she's a very kind, generous and thoughtful lady too. Such beauty is very rare, and I suspect a burden on those few who have it. To be gawped and judged purely on your looks, and to deal with it when it fades. Must be hard. Glad I'm average Grin

I’ve known three during my life. Only see one of them regularly now. We call her the Star Trek woman because she looks like one of those stunning aliens from the original Star Trek and is also very tall. She seems nice too.

ItsInTheSpoon · 11/12/2018 22:17

My first boyfriend, utterly gorgeous

Maelstrop · 11/12/2018 22:23

Guy I went on a date with in France. I found it very difficult to look at him! Date went well, but I think he was put off by my extreme avoidance, bless him! Also, his best mate who I saw a couple of years later and honestly, despite being a friend of mine, I couldn't speak, he was so fucking gorgeous!

I mean, he'd always been very good looking but when I hadn't seen him for a while and we met up in the pub (with his girlfriend!), he'd gone from good looking to omg!

BoswellandForshort · 11/12/2018 22:28

When I was getting my nails done once, the woman next to me was just the most beautiful person I’d ever seen. I couldn’t stop staring at her. She was absolutely perfect. (I mean all this in a non-sexual way. I didn’t fancy her. I just couldn’t believe how beautiful she was)

Felt like a right frump next to her with my bare face and frizzy hair

My former GP was the most incredibly good looking man. He looked like the lead in a medical drama. I’d almost go as far to say he was too good looking to be a real doctor (not that doctors can’t be good looking, but he honestly looked like an actor).

Those are the only two people I can think of who have been truly stunning. Yet the people I fancy never look like that- they always have something quirky about their appearance

smartcarnotsosmartdriver · 11/12/2018 22:28

Just one. We started working together earlier in the year and have become close friends. She is so beautiful. We went to a social event last weekend and it was so so strange so many people staring at her. Brand new experience for me and she didn't even notice. And she's really nice.

Pandamodium · 11/12/2018 22:32

Just one friend I met her as an inpatient years ago. It took 200 pills and doing her wrists in before she got any help as no one believed she could possibly be depressed looking like she did.

She's a lovely person too.

BoswellandForshort · 11/12/2018 22:35

Oh and also, my teenage brother is ridiculously good looking. Whenever I go out with him, we get a gaggle of young girls following us around and giggling. If I put a photo of us on social media I get a lot of messages from people asking me to introduce them.

I think I’m quite good looking. I have a figure that can turn heads depending on what I’m wearing, but nothing like the attention my brother gets.

Patienceisvirtuous · 11/12/2018 22:39

My ex was gorgeous. He looked a lot like Bradley Cooper.

He dumped me after 3 years and broke my heart 💔 #twat

Three. My mum, my paternal grandmother (who once got mobbed in the street because people thought she was Rosalind Russell) and a boy at uni.

I cannot say it was any particular blessing to any of them unfortunately. My mother suffered from chronic mental illness, my grandmother never met a man she really liked after my grandfather died in ww2 when she was very young, and the boy was stymied by doubts as to whether people really liked him. He married his primary school sweetheart but still very noticeably never appears in any family photos or social media.

ChodeofChodeHall · 11/12/2018 22:47

I work with a Romanian woman who is so mesmerisingly beautiful, you can imagine people writing poetry about her. Long, shiny, black hair, perfect skin, beautiful figure... And she's lovely.

Just had to google Richard Armitage to see what he looks like. Nice looking lad, but it would seem that his middle name is Crispin. How can you fancy someone whose middle name is Crispin?
