How many staggeringly good looking people do you know in real life?

Just following on from my 'oh my god I've just discovered Richard Armitage' thread (and do watch North and South if you have not already done so!). Musing on how gorgeous he is got me thinking.

How many really good looking people do you know in real life? I'm not talking 'eye of the beholder' type beauty, but real, classical, can't argue with it beauty (male or female)? There's a girl works in our office who I think is just beautiful - she always looks so glamorous without being showy or too made up, long blond hair with a slight curl. Very elegant. She makes everyone else look like saggy puddings. And she's probably very nice too (doesn't work in my section, it's a big place).

It made me think how very few people I know or even see like this on a daily basis - most people are just very average looking (myself included!). I can't remember the last time I saw a really handsome man. I do remember a chap I saw across a bar when I was about 22, with the most amazing cheekbones. He was just beautiful. Not in a fancying kind of way, just in a 'I could look at you for hours' kind of way. But I genuinely can't think of any since. Plenty of men I have found sexy but that's different, the two don't always overlap.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well. Maybe I just move in the wrong circles! Maybe they are all celebrities these days.

Not least because ‘African features’ is meaningless. Africa is a massive continent with huge variations in appearance between people in different ethnic groups, tribes and nationalities.

Sure, but same is true for Europe, yet the poster said he/she was 'not a fan of European features'.

My DH is still the most attractive man I've ever met and I still can't believe my luck, 6 years on... I used to sit and stare across the office at him, not knowing that he was secretly doing the same :)

I think I'm reasonably good looking (although better in my 30s than younger, I seemed to grow into my looks) although my 40s and a young DC have certainly taken their toll!

To be honest whilst people are often nice for no reason if you're attractive, I've also found a high proportion of creepy sexual predators who won't leave you alone also being a problem and spent a lot of my younger nights avoiding people who didn't seem to understand NO.

Indeed.

But almost all women have had this experience, no matter how 'attractive' or plain they are!

Two of my previous female bosses were genuinely stunning. One was an ex model, the other had a gorgeous figure and long blonde hair - men fawned over her and tbh she was hard to take my eyes off...

None !!

Yes this! I’m fat and ugly and still got loads of creeps.

I used to work with a woman who looked like Whitney Houston. She was absolutely gorgeous and very intelligent ( top lawyer)
She had three kids , but looked amazing.
She was a sweetheart, so you just couldn’t hate her

Two male doctors I have been fortunate enough to meet Grin

One was a GP Registrar, he was Russian/Azerbaijani, gorgeous brown eyes, he was beautiful both physically and as a person too. Extremely kind and caring. One of the best GP's I have ever met.

The other is someone who is extremely good looking and likely knows it, could probably pass for a Hollywood star, again gorgeous eyes, tall, very sexy voice and smile. Quite charming and probably flirts with all his female clients/patients. Smile

When I was in college there was the most beautiful boy in my fine art class. I used to just stare at him. He wasnt masculine or rugged but incredibly feminine looking. Very slight with huge blue eyes and long blonde hair. He looked like he had walked out of an old renaissance painting. Ive never seen anyone quite like him before or since.

My friend’s daughter is stunningly beautiful. Mum is Irish and Dad is Turkish . She is only 10 but the most beautiful child I have ever seen .

I've not read the thread and this may be controversial but non where I am now in a poorer area than where I grew up.

Abosulty loads when I grew up.... Literal stunners. Non now at all.

Unfairly I would think incredibly attractive people have their pick of partners so are likely to opt for someone rich so to congregate in nicer places Years ago we stayed with friends in the midlands and it was actually noticeable how plain people were generally compared with central London where we were living at the time.

RiddleyW · 16/12/2018 08:42

Opt for someone rich and also have an advantage in their own careers so tend to have more money either way.

LashesZ · 16/12/2018 08:49

My DP is absolutely stunning. We work in the same place and women have the cheek to flirt openly with him. He is mixed race, has long thick black eyelashes, a strong jawline and amazing torso. Possibly needs his vision checking as he fell for me Grin

Loads. I lived in Los Angeles for over a decade, back when plastic surgery was for over 50s and Botox/fillers weren’t the norm. So you didn’t get “bot” looking women.

The stunning people always wore scruffy/normal outfits, had their hair in a messy bun and wore no make up. But they bloody just radiated beauty and youth.

I remember being absolutely mesmerised by a guy in his 30s with greying hair and in a cream sweater and we couldn’t stop staring. There was just something about him that screamed this is the man you want to marry and have beautiful children with..... then it finally clicked. He was in a Ralph Lauren campaign, indeeed featured along with a beautiful pretend wife, perfect two children and a stunning golden retriever. All enjoying a board game in some Alpine chalet.
