How many staggeringly good looking people do you know in real life?

Just following on from my 'oh my god I've just discovered Richard Armitage' thread (and do watch North and South if you have not already done so!). Musing on how gorgeous he is got me thinking.

How many really good looking people do you know in real life? I'm not talking 'eye of the beholder' type beauty, but real, classical, can't argue with it beauty (male or female)? There's a girl works in our office who I think is just beautiful - she always looks so glamorous without being showy or too made up, long blond hair with a slight curl. Very elegant. She makes everyone else look like saggy puddings. And she's probably very nice too (doesn't work in my section, it's a big place).

It made me think how very few people I know or even see like this on a daily basis - most people are just very average looking (myself included!). I can't remember the last time I saw a really handsome man. I do remember a chap I saw across a bar when I was about 22, with the most amazing cheekbones. He was just beautiful. Not in a fancying kind of way, just in a 'I could look at you for hours' kind of way. But I genuinely can't think of any since. Plenty of men I have found sexy but that's different, the two don't always overlap.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well. Maybe I just move in the wrong circles! Maybe they are all celebrities these days.

@IcedPurple ah yes a lot better in his ER days! I see it now.

Bluesnow · 11/12/2018 21:13

@Runningishard Rosie is her pretty. I'm rather shocked about her partner, 20 years older than her and not a looked either!

Bluesnow · 11/12/2018 21:13

Is very*

Bluesnow · 11/12/2018 21:14

Not a looker*

canigetaliein · 11/12/2018 21:16

I agree that sexiness is something else. Someone can be beautiful but bland. I also think people have different ideas, I think Henry Cavil and Tom Hardy are gorgeous. Paul Walker was beautiful.

Bowchicawowow · 11/12/2018 21:17

My DS is very good looking. He turns heads wherever we go.

canigetaliein · 11/12/2018 21:19

I’ve seen Rosie in real life & she looked quite ordinary but this was a fair few years ago.

Ollivander84 · 11/12/2018 21:19

It's funny because I model and so I meet a lot of other models and most are people you would walk past in the street. Yet put them in front of a camera and the photographs...
Some look striking, some ooze sexuality

HettieBettie · 11/12/2018 21:20

One and she is infuriating

haverhill · 11/12/2018 21:21

One of my colleagues is very attractive.
I once saw a young woman in a cafe who was truly beautiful, almost otherworldly. I just gawped as did everyone else. Poor girl!

theveryhighlife · 11/12/2018 21:21

Isn't it funny how some people just catch your eye and you just can't help but stare at their beauty. Rare, but it does happen.

canigetaliein · 11/12/2018 21:21

Totally I used to a bit of modelling in my youth & lots of them are a bit angular in real life. Erin O Conner turned heads but she’s very statuesque. I’m normal looking in real life but take a good photo.

ForAMinuteThere · 11/12/2018 21:23

I have one friend that can stop people in their tracks. Lovely girl too. Very tomboy esque in every way except looks!

Giggorata · 11/12/2018 21:24

A woman at work, who looks like a real life Barbie. Amazing hourglass figure, long blonde hair, long legs, china blue eyes and a sweet expression. She is also very bright and thoroughly nice.

AdultHumanFemale · 11/12/2018 21:26

I once approached a woman in the street to say how utterly beautiful I found her creepy, I know We met some years later in a different context, both remembered, and luckily, became fast friends.
DP was jaw droppingly gorgeous when I first got to know him socially. I could see he was a stunner, and it put me off as he was completely fawned over by women everywhere. It took a while before I could get past my mistrust of a very pretty face. He has aged very well and now looks like a rugged catalogue model for mature gents wear Grin

PaintBySticker · 11/12/2018 21:29

@UtterlyDesperate Do you live in High Wycombe and is he golden? Grin

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 11/12/2018 21:29

My ex boss was from Denmark. He looked a dead ringer for Chubby Brown. 😂😂😂

I worked with a girl years ago who was breathtaking - tall, long limbed and model like, sparkling blue eyes and blonde hair, laser cut cheekbones but it was her skin. It just glowed from the inside out.

She was ace at her job and a single mum to an 8 year old at 25. I was in awe of her generally. Blush

PuppyMonkey · 11/12/2018 21:31

There was a gas leak down the road from me the other week and we had a knock on the door from one of the workers/repair men, just wanting to check our house to make sure he couldn’t detect any further leaks with his special reader thing.

OMG he was an utterly beautiful looking young man. Even DP commented on it.

I had an 11 yo and a 12 yo girl with me at the time when I let him in, and their jaw drop expressions were a sight to behold Grin

AnotherOriginalUsername · 11/12/2018 21:32

One. He's literally the most handsome man I've ever seen. I never understood that thing
that people have about people's eyes until I saw his.

Slightly awkwardly, he's my massage therapist and I definitely don't buy new matching underwear for every time I see him

Thirtyrock39 · 11/12/2018 21:34

I always wonder how different life must be if you're really good looking.
At work occasionally there is a sales guy who comes in and it literally is like a Diet Coke Break moment- quite ridiculous everyone just stares and giggles in groups watching him !
I think it's quite unusual in real life to see unarguably really good looking people . Depressingly I do think this reduces further as you get older...a few years ago I worked in a pub and some of the staff and customers were model attractive but all early 20s

GrouchyKiwi · 11/12/2018 21:34

My husband has a friend who is just incredibly handsome. I met him once when he came to meet our PFB and was very flustered. He is the most attractive person I've ever seen.

MilkyCuppa · 11/12/2018 21:36

I’ve met three.

One was disappointingly gay despite my best efforts at flirting. He had beautiful green eyes.

The second was a young man who used to work with DH - I had to try not to stare because he was ridiculously gorgeous and fifteen years too young for me . DH is still his friend on Facebook and I still stare when I see a photo of him that DH has commented on.

The third looked like a blonde, blue eyed angel and was a holiday romance. I would totally have moved halfway round the world for him if he had wanted to see me again. He broke my heart because I’ve never met anyone else who lived up to that standard of stunning beauty.

Four maybe, because Angel Boy had a sister who was also utterly stunning. I will never understand what he saw in me.

MilkyCuppa · 11/12/2018 21:41

Oh, five perhaps if you count DF. He was ridiculously handsome in his youth. Unfortunately he’d let himself go by mid 40s, but everyone tells me how heads used to turn and people would nudge each other when he walked by.

I did not inherit his looks. Hoping that it skipped a generation and DS will be stunning.

Yohooo · 11/12/2018 21:47

Yep, when I was younger I met a pot washer in an Indian restaurant. He was a young lad possible a teen or in his early 29s and he was truly beautiful. He was slightly effeminate looking with unbelievably green eyes. I don't usually find Indian guys that attractive but this young man was perfection. I didn't find him sexy just very, very beautiful.

Other than him I can't think of anyone I've met who is quite so perfect although I'm quite often taken aback by certain things about people most usually by people's eyes.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/12/2018 21:48

One, a former colleague. She's funny, kind and smart, but to be honest people don't see that and just pigeon hole her as beautiful blonde. I thinks it's a bit of a curse to be honest.
