How many staggeringly good looking people do you know in real life?

Just following on from my 'oh my god I've just discovered Richard Armitage' thread (and do watch North and South if you have not already done so!). Musing on how gorgeous he is got me thinking.

How many really good looking people do you know in real life? I'm not talking 'eye of the beholder' type beauty, but real, classical, can't argue with it beauty (male or female)? There's a girl works in our office who I think is just beautiful - she always looks so glamorous without being showy or too made up, long blond hair with a slight curl. Very elegant. She makes everyone else look like saggy puddings. And she's probably very nice too (doesn't work in my section, it's a big place).

It made me think how very few people I know or even see like this on a daily basis - most people are just very average looking (myself included!). I can't remember the last time I saw a really handsome man. I do remember a chap I saw across a bar when I was about 22, with the most amazing cheekbones. He was just beautiful. Not in a fancying kind of way, just in a 'I could look at you for hours' kind of way. But I genuinely can't think of any since. Plenty of men I have found sexy but that's different, the two don't always overlap.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well. Maybe I just move in the wrong circles! Maybe they are all celebrities these days.

We had an intern in my office about 15 years ago now and he was so beautiful he literally turned heads. Without a doubt the most attractive person I have ever met in real life.

I’ve met Jeson Ackles and he’s ridiculous but I’m not counting him because he’s an actor.

LizzieSiddal · 11/12/2018 19:20

Someone we work with looks very like Julia Roberts, everyone can see it, it's not just us thinking it.

Also one of DD's friends, who is 24, is very, very beautiful, as in you could look at her all day and never get bored.Grin They have been friends since they were at nursery.

I would say my own DD too, but people won't believe me, but she is.

Sweepington · 11/12/2018 19:21

One of my best friends is. She’s a university lecturer as well, really funny and one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet.

There was one lad at school, who went on to be a model, who was technically very beautiful, however, in the flesh, I didn’t find him remotely attractive, he was dull and moody, and as a result the way he looked was irrelevant, to the point where I didn’t even really notice his beauty until I saw him in a magazine, and thought, god, he’s amazing looking, despite having never paid attention in real life.
My nephew however, also had a modelling contract and is stunning, and also such a happy charming bloke, which makes him the most noticeable thing in every room.

My boss is incredibly good looking. He's drop dead gorgeous.

But........ He's also a bit arrogant, and rather it of touch with the real world.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/12/2018 19:22

My mother.

She also had a friend who was just stunning.

DiveBombingSeagull · 11/12/2018 19:22

One of my friends is incredibly beautiful but also kind, thoughtful, generous, intelligent, great company etc etc. She has four daughters who are all equally blessed with stunning looks and personality.

Etino · 11/12/2018 19:23

I had a breathtaking colleague once. We were very close and she had a lot of issues with how people reacted to her and treated her. I think she’d have been happier were she plainer.

Klobuchar · 11/12/2018 19:23

Real life beauty, as opposed to made-up sculpted and airbrushed famous people captured at a stunning moment, is so, so rare.

Attractiveness is one thing, beauty is quite another.

Batteriesallgone · 11/12/2018 19:24

My sister.

Always been one that people stare at. She was the type of 20 year old who would get approached by bouncers in nightclubs saying the men who are in the VIP area have asked if you and a friend want to come in. You know how often rich men like to have gorgeous girls hanging out in their area because it is a status thing.

Usually she’d go in with her best mate (who is also attractive though not gorgeous), neck a couple of bottles of the cheap champagne then leave and go somewhere else before they got felt up.

Heyjudas · 11/12/2018 19:24

There was one guy I used to work with and he was 6 4, and just a beautiful specimen.
However, when I got to know him, he's a prick, so I don't see the beauty anymore.
Pity, he was nice eye candy for a while.

Batteriesallgone · 11/12/2018 19:25

Free champagne haha

Not cheap

Nissemand · 11/12/2018 19:25

I've met two, a woman from Poland, and a man from Morocco.

They were incredibly nice, kind, intelligent and just plain good too. They were both in perfectly normal jobs, and very ordinary, nothing stuck up about them.

Stunningly good looking though.

RiverTam · 11/12/2018 19:26

I remember, many years ago, sitting in the pub with some work colleagues, and one of our colleagues came in with her was, by far and away and without a shadow of a doubt, the handsomest man we’d ever seen, it was quite staggering. They’re still together 25 years on and he’s aged very well Grin.

Kemer2018 · 11/12/2018 19:26

I work next to one. She's a stunner, a real head-turner. Beautifully turned out, wears lovely clothes, boots, make-up. Lovely teeth. She must have trouble going around town, she's lovely.
Also, she's 25 with a strong work ethic, charming, doesn't run from a challenge and confident without being cocky.

OneStepMoreFun · 11/12/2018 19:26

RA isn't swoon handsome! He has a beaky nose and tiny, female chin. May be sexy but not classically handsome.
Nabhaan Rizwan (Informer) is about as perfect as bone structure gets imo. And he has the hugest eyes of any man ever.

AtiaoftheJulii · 11/12/2018 19:26

A friend of my dd's. Tall, dark and handsome, George Clooney-esque.

An orthopaedic registrar. I wasn't the only one staring each time he came into the ward.

clumsyduck · 11/12/2018 19:26

Just myself really Grin

Aside from me hmmmm no one really classically stunning but beauty being in the eye of the beholder and that there are man people I find incredibly attractive

clumsyduck · 11/12/2018 19:26

Man people ?. Freudian slip ? I meant many people !!

Sailinghappy · 11/12/2018 19:27

My husband! Not just saying that - he is absolutely stunning to look at, undeniably gorgeous. Very tall, muscular and a chiselled jaw and lovely lovely face. He is often admired for his looks❤️

Sitranced · 11/12/2018 19:28

My work colleague. Classic French with impeccable style and beauty. She has a lovely personality to match too.

RiverTam · 11/12/2018 19:28

Btw, OP, are you watching Berlin Station on More 4? Mr A is in that, looking divine, and you get to see a lot of him. I mean, A Lot BlushWink

OneStepMoreFun · 11/12/2018 19:28

My best friend when I was 20 was absolutely beautiful. She could stop traffic. She was tall, very thin with glossy skin and amazing features, and a lovely woman, though quite eccentric and very fed up of men who were only after her looks.

Hofuckingho · 11/12/2018 19:29

A bit fat zero.

rabbitmat · 11/12/2018 19:29

A new woman started at work and before I met her people were commenting on her beauty which I found a bit odd. When I met her I saw why! She was definitely the most beautiful woman I have ever met. She was not at all glamorous (I think she tried to play down her looks) but it made no difference. I felt sorry for her in a way because people were always saying "You could be a model" as though her career was irrelevant.
