Do you make your bed every day?

Just wondering as I've realised I don't feel organised for the day if I don't make mine before I leave the house!

And yes I try to make in most days!!

JacintaJones · 08/12/2018 20:19

Never do. I have to be at work by 7.40 though and I have so problem with getting in to an unmade bed either.
I must be a slattern.

Toomanybaubles · 08/12/2018 20:19

Running late usually - on the days I don't make it I have porridge at work so no breakfast at home either.

I have a feather duvet that always moves in my duvet cover with a big quilted throw on the top so I need to find the corners inside the cover and straighten it all up. Super king size, takes a few minutes.

Pandasarecute · 08/12/2018 20:20

I always fold the duvet back so that the bed can air, and I plump the pillows. I then make the bed at night before I get in !

Kim82 · 08/12/2018 20:20

Yes, I make it after I’ve had a shower and got dressed. It makes the room look instantly tidier.

lazymare · 08/12/2018 20:21

No

ILoveDolly · 08/12/2018 20:22

I do like to put curtains back, open window and smooth over the duvet. Even when the bedrooms messy doing this makes such a difference

CountFosco · 08/12/2018 20:22

No, I make the pillows look nice (and turn them) but I leave the covers neatly pulled back to air it. I only make it in the evening when I get home from work so they've had all day to air. Hate an inadequately aired bed.

lazymare · 08/12/2018 20:23

For those of you who don't, why don't you?

Because it is so far down the priority list of two kids, two jobs and a million more interesting things to do. I do make it sometimes and definitely before I get into it.

Plus I absolutely hate my bedroom so avoid it as much as possible.

Riotingbananas · 08/12/2018 20:24

I fold the duvet back and leave it like that until bedtime. Making it would trap all that fluid everyone sweats each night. Yuk.

StoneRoses4Ever · 08/12/2018 20:25

I heard that making your bed makes dust mites breed more so leaving it open sort of airs it. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

TeaAndNoSympathy · 08/12/2018 20:26

Yes! I open the window and leave it to air while I shower and eat breakfast and then I always, always make it. I don’t think I’ve ever left the house without making my bed.

Kool4katz · 08/12/2018 20:26

I fling the duvet back on itself all day and put it back up to the pillows just before I get back in. I don't see the issue?

FourFuxxakes · 08/12/2018 20:27

Depends on how happy I am about getting out of it. If I don't want to get up and I generally can't be arsed with the day ahead, I don't bother. If I wake in a slightly better mood then I do. Sometimes I will leave it a mess and then come back later in the day and make it then. On QI once I saw something about how a messy, unmade bed is better than a made one but I don't remember why.

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/12/2018 20:27

No, in the morning I pull the duvet back then at night I get on the bed and pull the duvet on top of me.

TulipsInbloom1 · 08/12/2018 20:28

Nope. Up and out for work, duvet yanked down to the foot of the bed. I make it around 6pm whilst having a tidy round.

A messy bed can make a whole room look messy

That doesn't bother me as I am not in it at all until I get changed after work!

Euamoonatal · 08/12/2018 20:31

I decided when I was a young teenager that my day could not possibly go well if i did not fold my pj's and make my bed. I have always done it since. I make the beds while drying after my shower. Eldest dc makes her own.

Shootingstar20 · 08/12/2018 20:32

Yes, feel like I’m coming back to a messy bedroom after work otherwise

Oblomov18 · 08/12/2018 20:32

Always. Takes a couple of seconds to shake a duvet, and it makes the room look instantly tidy.

PeroniZucchini · 08/12/2018 20:33

Yes. Beds are aired first, then made. With blankets, throws etc arranged neatly. It just makes me feel more together when they’re done!

LBOCS2 · 08/12/2018 20:36

I pull the bed back to air in the morning and then when I come home from work and get changed in the evening I pull it up so it's made when we get in a few hours later.

catmon · 08/12/2018 20:40

Another quilt folder over here, even the kids do theirs like that now, it just seems more hygienic

silkpyjamasallday · 08/12/2018 20:42

I fold the duvet back after shaking it out and plump and rearrange the pillows most mornings, makes the room tidier and is lovely to get into at the end of the day. If I don't do it in the mornings I end up doing it later in the day as I hate getting into bed with the duvet rucked up in the cover and pillows strewn everywhere. I remember reading some military guy saying making your bed first thing is a positive start to the day as immediately you've 'achieved' something.
