Does this dress look horrible?

I’m (supposed to be) going to DH’s Christmas party tonight. It’s black tie, 4 course meal.

I bought a beautiful dress.. they didn’t have my size in the shop so I ordered it online and it didn’t come 😭 I had ordered a spare which also didn’t come!

I just emergency bought this and now I’m home I just think.. I can’t go in this 😬

It’s longer at the back than the front. (And looks a bit weird as I’ve just pushed my bra straps down)

What do you think? 🤞

I really like it

Not really a black tie event type of dress. Could you not homer to monsoon or oasis and see what they have. Better still to max have loads.

You look lovely

Looks nice. Enjoy the meal! Xmas Smile

anothermansmother · 08/12/2018 15:16

That's tkmaxx not to max

Surinamtoad · 08/12/2018 15:16

You look great!

Racecardriver · 08/12/2018 15:16

You shouldn’t be wearing solid black tights with those shoes. Wear sheer black or skin tones tights. Add a string of pears or a simple silver chain with a small pendant. You will look fine.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 08/12/2018 15:16

I guess I’m just worried it looks too casual?

(And too tight Blush)

This is the back..

I don't go to black toe events so not sure what is appropriate. The dress doesn't look horrible tough. What accessories will you put with it, how will you have your hair?

mimibunz · 08/12/2018 15:17

You look really great! Are you wearing a sparkly necklace?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 08/12/2018 15:17

Sheer tights, good idea!

peachypetite · 08/12/2018 15:17

Op I don't think it's doing much for you but if you don't have any other options could you at least get some nude tights?

Owlettele · 08/12/2018 15:18

Look fab. Have a good night XX

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 08/12/2018 15:18

I have a hair appointment booked at 4.. maybe up? I’ve got sparkly earrings and will try to find a necklace. The other dress had quite a high neckline so I wasn’t going to wear one.

Good necklace and perhaps skin legs and sparkly shoes?

Its a nice dress and looks good on you but some accessories would bring it to life

Have fun!

KnitFastDieWarm · 08/12/2018 15:20

I really like it! Sheer tights and sparkly shoes and a nice bag and you’re set (and a jacket, it’s bloody freezing here Grin)

DerelictWreck · 08/12/2018 15:21

Yes sheer tights will be much better and hair up will look lovey with that neckline leaving your collarbone and back clear :)

OP do you have any higher heels you'd be comfortable in? You've got lovely legs so could afford to show them off ( if you wanted to!)

Poonmig · 08/12/2018 15:29

Can we also discuss your fabulous Alice in Wonderland tree? I LOVE it. (And the dress is fine!!!)

HarrySnotter · 08/12/2018 15:32

Sally Hansen legs, strappy sparkly shoes and bag, nice earrings and simple necklace. Lovely.

nicenewdusters · 08/12/2018 15:48

It looks lovely. Agree with sheer tights, some sparkly ear rings and necklace. I think hair up would look great as well.

And I love your christmas tree !

Regnamechanger · 08/12/2018 15:50

To me it looks as if it's not supposed to be quite as off the shoulder as you are wearing it. Does the neckline go up a bit, so that it sits just at the top of your shoulder iyswim.
I agree re nude tights and I'd either go all sparkly or dress it up with a very definite colour, like a lovely teal blue, red or gold.

You'll see all sorts of dresses and possibly even trousers at the event I reckon.

Regnamechanger · 08/12/2018 15:51

Oh, it would suit having a shawl or wrap added as well.

You'll look great!

Loopytiles · 08/12/2018 15:51

Nice dress, but underdressing for black tie.

CollyWombles · 08/12/2018 15:54

You look lovely, though I think you would look amazing in a floor length dress with a slightly tighter waist, you have a nice figure, show it off!
