Does this dress look horrible?

I’m (supposed to be) going to DH’s Christmas party tonight. It’s black tie, 4 course meal.

I bought a beautiful dress.. they didn’t have my size in the shop so I ordered it online and it didn’t come 😭 I had ordered a spare which also didn’t come!

I just emergency bought this and now I’m home I just think.. I can’t go in this 😬

It’s longer at the back than the front. (And looks a bit weird as I’ve just pushed my bra straps down)

What do you think? 🤞

It doesn't look horrible, but it does look too casual for black tie and perhaps a tad tight across the upper part. I don't think those off the shoulder tops are especially flattering on anyone.

It looks lovely, but as a suggestion for a Christmas meal how about some lovely but tasteful bling to go with it (bit of colour, matching bag)? And maybe a shade or two lighter tights and higher heels?

You only need spanx with something unforgivingly figure-hugging, not something with a nice flare like that and as a quick backup I think it's a great dress, so I'd disagree with LED on that technicality. And you don't look tubby! Spanx just not needed so fgs don't put yourself through that!! Enjoy your night out.

That's the only thing I think could be improved.

Do you feel comfortable in it?

I think it looks fine & "fit for purpose" though.

It looks lovely! Sheer tights, hair and make up some and some sparkly costume jewellery and you’ll be all set! I’d also put a pair of higher heels on if you had them! Have a great night :)
