Does this dress look horrible?

I’m (supposed to be) going to DH’s Christmas party tonight. It’s black tie, 4 course meal.

I bought a beautiful dress.. they didn’t have my size in the shop so I ordered it online and it didn’t come 😭 I had ordered a spare which also didn’t come!

I just emergency bought this and now I’m home I just think.. I can’t go in this 😬

It’s longer at the back than the front. (And looks a bit weird as I’ve just pushed my bra straps down)

What do you think? 🤞

Hair up, nude tights and long sparkly earrings will look fine.

You look lovely but would benefit as others have said from sheer tights and some jewellery. Stand straight and proud too, if you slouch (sorry, it might just be the photo) clothes won't look as good.

I think it will be fine. Black is very versatile and looks smart and the neckline is great. Accessorise with a glass of Champagne and away you go!

You look lovely. The dress is nice but I think you definitely need accessories. Maybe sheer tights, fancy shoes and some sparkly jewellery. If you have a bright coloured shoe they would give it a colour pop. Maybe an updo or curls in your hair and go glam on the makeup. Definitely eyeshadow and a bright lip . You’ll look great

You shouldn’t be wearing solid black tights with those shoes. Wear sheer black or skin tones tights. Add a string of pears or a simple silver chain with a small pendant is the worst advice I've seen on here!
I hate sheer tights, they look disgusting even on Kate Middleton who does have great legs. The OP is young enough and pretty enough to look better with solid black time, no need to dress like an OAP!

I think it's fine. Black tie isn't as strict for women as it is for men. Even if some are in long dresses, you won't look too strange I don't think.

I agree that sheer tights would look better, but personally wouldn't suffer the cold for a slightly better look and would wear opaque tights in winter.
