The DS has asked for a non-existent present thread

I remember being on one last year!

Once again DC has asked for a non-existent toy. Last year Santa came through. But this year doesn't have much time to sort it out i.e. make it. Who else is in the same boat and what have they asked for? Mine has been very specific. He wants a Brio funicular set. They don't exist.

My dd has asked for a rainbow, a cloud, and a boomerang. The rainbow and cloud have to be an actual rainbow and cloud. I wish she'd asked for the boomerang before I bought a fucking huge dolls house and cleared out a space for the stupid thing to live in

FrostyMoanyWind · 06/12/2018 20:33

Rainbow is easy. Torch and prism.

How old is she? Would she fall for e.g. making the bathroom all steamy?

Would a humidifier work for a cloud?

Eeyoreismyspiritguide · 06/12/2018 20:35

Get her a vape. She can have her own weather system 😆

Giggorata · 06/12/2018 20:36

“Mum, I want that line in the sky for my birthday.” Ds2, looking up at the vapour trail from a plane.

LtGreggs · 06/12/2018 20:38

www.muddyfaces.co.uk/product/cable-car-and-winch-set/ and somehow attach a brio train to it??

HerRoyalNotness · 06/12/2018 20:38

My Ds asked for something that does exist and only cost $5, but unfortunately they don’t make them any more so costs on eBay are about $150. Thanks adult fans of small, cheap, plastic figurines HmmShock

He won’t be getting it.

LtGreggs · 06/12/2018 20:39

Mine asked for "a gigantic fighting machine"

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 20:40

Could the brio funiculor be binoculars?

FrostyMoanyWind · 06/12/2018 20:41

I think I know how to do it. The problems are mainly finding the time, buying the bits without him around, painting an engine and stealing some tracks from his room without him noticing

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 20:41

How old is the Dc OP. Can you ask him what the brio funicular does?

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 20:42

Is brio a thing? Don't have young children so am a bit out of the loop!

FrostyMoanyWind · 06/12/2018 20:43

He's 9. It' definitely a funicular he wants. And it must be Brio.

OP posts:
LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 06/12/2018 20:44

A "bouncing atta" WTF is that? It's like an apple apparently. All I get when I ask is a "bouncing atta mummy" Confused. I think she's playing games with me.

Thejezebel · 06/12/2018 20:44

Ok, well never heard of Brio so no idea what that is.

FrostyMoanyWind · 06/12/2018 20:45

Good Luck LtGreggs! Like robot wars?

Or some kind of model catapult, trebuchet etc?

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 06/12/2018 20:46

Dd2 does this every year too. Last year I managed to get one of 2 don't exist presents sorted but the other was never going to be able to happen- it was a bracelet that told her when it was time to come for a hug that was operated by god not a push button.
This year she has asked for a lego belle castle that is actually the real castle that she can live in that also has a garage. Again I think I've managed to come up with something that will suffice!

FrostyMoanyWind · 06/12/2018 20:46

Oh, sorry, Brio is a brand name for wooden railway track/trains. It takes over so much of my house I assume everyone knows what it is!

OP posts:
IncyWincyGrownUp · 06/12/2018 20:47

Brio is the main brand of wooden train sets.

A brio funicular sounds epic though. I hope you manage to find the time to wrangle one!

Strokethefurrywall · 06/12/2018 20:47

7 year old DS1 has asked for a firebolt or nimbus2000. He was very insistent that the broomstick should actually fly.

He also wants tickets to the next quidditch World Cup...

PhaLANge · 06/12/2018 20:51

This thread is great I thought it was only me with one weird kid!!

So, any ideas for a potion that'll turn him into a werewolf? Or an actual magic book, not a book on tricks, oh no, a real spell book where he can read incantations and magic things into existence. This is just two of many examples from this year's Santa letter!!

ifiwasabutterfly · 06/12/2018 20:54

@FrostyMoanyWind on Amazon have a look at the Kraul cable car, they also have a winch. It is wooden and might fit with the brio 'look' - I know it's not a funicular but maybe a thought.

Fatted · 06/12/2018 20:55

Not necessarily Christmas related, but I once spent an entire Saturday having to explain to my 5YO why we simply could not make Jurassic Park in the back garden.

After we got past the discussion of needing planning permission from the council Confused I then had to explain why I simply couldn't pull dinosaur DNA out of thin air Hmm
