I remember being on one last year!

Once again DC has asked for a non-existent toy. Last year Santa came through. But this year doesn't have much time to sort it out i.e. make it. Who else is in the same boat and what have they asked for? Mine has been very specific. He wants a Brio funicular set. They don't exist.

My DS (3) told Santa yesterday that he wants a 'Lamborghini and a Audi'. When pressed by Santa he said they had to be real ones.

DH does drive an Audi so I can solve that one but the Lamborghini is proving to be an issue.

Reaa · 07/12/2018 09:48

It's real but on the small side

xalyssx · 07/12/2018 09:50

My 4 year old wants a remote control police hover van. ...remote control hover cars cost an awful lot and they're not big enough to be vans. But the elf emailed and asked him if a remote control amphibious car and a pack of police stickers to put on it would work - thankfully he said yes so that only costs £15

Did has got a projector thing that shines a rainbow on the wall. It was cheap, from amazon

That was the easy part. She also wants a snake (a real snake)

Fooferella · 07/12/2018 10:18

DS wants Fortnite Lego. I asked him if he saw one in the Argos catalogue but alas, no. He said that he wanted Santa's elves to make it for him and then he'd have the only set.
He has about 15 things on his list so I'm hoping he forgets about this one!

Sewrainbow · 07/12/2018 10:22

Argos clearance section had broomsticks the other day very cheap - doubt they fly though!

@ahardmanisgoodtofind
I think I would be wrapping a massive amount of white candy floss and explaining that clouds evaporated very fast.

@phLANge
We have this book and my daughter loves it. It's so well done.Wizardology by Dugald Steer. For the werewolf potion I would get a bottle of some healthy green juice and write up a new label. Something like a warning that the person who drinks it will turn into a werewolf but when it wears off they will never remember. That it must only be taken before bed when the moon is full and werewolves only come out at night. Then you could ask in the morning if they were up as you heard a noise or found a bit of stange fur etc. Unless you think that might be over dramatic and give them bad dreams.Shock

I would buy/make a beautiful wand made from crystals and tree branch with silk ribbons and put it in a carved wooden box. I would print out instructions on parchment type paper saying this is a certificate of wand authenticity and must it be used with great care and to do no harm. That the magic will only work if it is best for everyone and real magic is not instant like in the movies it can some times take a long time to work but you must always believe.

Fortnite toy but not Lego

reallyanotherone · 07/12/2018 10:39

A "bouncing atta" WTF is that? It's like an apple apparently. All I get when I ask is a "bouncing atta mummy" confused. I think she's playing games with me

Space hopper?

I spent weeks trying to source a toy Sinornithosaurus (flying dinosaur) for my then 4 year old dinosaur obsessed son. He'd been watching the TV show Planet Dinosaur narrated by John Hurt and was really taken with this one dinosaur featured in the program. I couldn't find one anywhere, I even had a Mandarin speaking friend trawl the Chinese online toy shops to see if I could get one shipped to me!

In the end he got a Quetzalcoatlus (different flying dinosaur) and he was a little disappointed that Santa couldn't tell one large flying dinosaur from another but he also got the full series of Planet Dinosaur on Blu-Ray so that mitigated the disappointment a little.

My niece (7) asks for a "real Unicorn" every year. Every year my sisters tells her that Santa isn't allowed to take them from their homes as they're a protected magical species Smile

Thank you Lucylugs those are great suggestions!

Last year DD requested a purple, knitted, talking robot.

6demandingchildren · 07/12/2018 11:08

My youngest wants a step mum.
Me and DH are still happily married.

GandolfBold · 07/12/2018 11:10

About 5 years ago DD asked for a knitted hedgehog 2 days before Christmas! Very luckily I managed to track one down on BIN on ebay and got the lady to send it special delivery. She was over the moon.

This year she wants a whale bag she saw in some really small boutique shop in France. She can't remember where, or what the bag really looks like but all she knows is that she wants it and that santa will be able to find it!

crumble82 · 07/12/2018 11:10

DD has requested a magic lamp so she can wish for fairies to fly around her bedroom Xmas Smile

Lollygaggles · 07/12/2018 11:16

DS has requested a model Odin City from a browser game called Creeperworld (for which there is zero merchandise.) The best I could think of was to find a drawing of the city online and have that image printed onto playing cards with his name on. Not quite the same I know!

BollocksToBrexit · 07/12/2018 11:23

Brio do make a funicular set, but I'm not sure it's what your 9 year old means. It looks like a starter set for very young kids.

RustyBear · 07/12/2018 11:24

For years DD wanted an Ewok - an actual, live Ewok.

She’s now 28, and when I ask her what she wants for Christmas, she still sometimes puts an Ewok on the list.

sashh · 07/12/2018 11:25

Or an actual magic book, not a book on tricks, oh no, a real spell book where he can read incantations and magic things into existence.

I actually have a couple of 'real' spell books but I seem to have made them disappear.

Titania Hardie's original books are simply beautiful, velvet covers and lovely photos.

Witchend · 07/12/2018 11:38

When ds was 6yo, he asked for 2 remote controlled aeroplanes with missile attachments. One was to be a heat seeking missile and the other was a sidewinder. He was most put out to find I wouldn't even look to see if they were available.

I asked for a real live baby when I was 4yo. I was not pleased with the substitution of a doll.
