The DS has asked for a non-existent present thread

I remember being on one last year!

Once again DC has asked for a non-existent toy. Last year Santa came through. But this year doesn't have much time to sort it out i.e. make it. Who else is in the same boat and what have they asked for? Mine has been very specific. He wants a Brio funicular set. They don't exist.

Dd wants a floral mood ring. I can find floral rings, and I can find mood rings, but not a floral mood ring. It needs to fit a tiny finger too. Argh.

MarklahMarklah · 06/12/2018 22:31

I have no idea - DD has written a list for Santa which she has put somewhere and can't find. "But don't worry mummy, because Santa knows what's on it." Shock

thighofrelief · 06/12/2018 22:31

I remember asking my Dad for a singing chipmunk he said yes and then my teacher lied to me and said they don't exist. Evil mare.

Why did he have to saw the trains into a triangle?
Because I think the trains that go up them are generally not flat like normal trains or else they would be too slopey inside to be useful. But since people will not actually be inside the wooden trains it might not matter. And if you just used a normal train without making it triangular you could use the same trains on the whole track. We usually only used the special ones but i think normal ones worked ok. They just didnt fit so neatly against the track. My dad is just a perfectionist.

I can't believe there is a kid out there who actually wants one and we just put it in a huge random box in a charity shop. What a shame.

StrawberryStar · 06/12/2018 22:36

@PhaLANge
DD wanted a real spell so we printed one up, let her mix the potion then left it overnight to work (swapped the mix for what ever I said the spell would make)

Oldwestaction · 06/12/2018 22:40

venus are these any good? <a class="break-all" href="https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mood-Ring-For-Kids-Children-with-Flower-Animal-Design-Party-Bag-Filler-TYJ52/173459138769?ul_ref=rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10040&campid=5338441847&customid=Cj0KCQiArqPgBRCRARIsAPwlHoWpd_HOjJS4WKY6pskVcx95IvqQ7vwWQEgyjf9vR-apWmxMsWXS9kUaAhOmEALw_wcB&lgeo=0&vectorid=229508&item=173459138769&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=1772124912551&rvr_ts=85addc4c1670ab6b0702e65dffd17b82&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=2ca66999-ed96-424f-aeb5-bac8b62b8205" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mood-Ring-For-Kids-Children-with-Flower-Animal-Design-Party-Bag-Filler-TYJ52/173459138769?ul_ref=rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10040&campid=5338441847&customid=Cj0KCQiArqPgBRCRARIsAPwlHoWpd_HOjJS4WKY6pskVcx95IvqQ7vwWQEgyjf9vR-apWmxMsWXS9kUaAhOmEALw_wcB&lgeo=0&vectorid=229508&item=173459138769&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=1772124912551&rvr_ts=85addc4c1670ab6b0702e65dffd17b82&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=2ca66999-ed96-424f-aeb5-bac8b62b8205

Does this give you inspiration Frosty?

Flower mood ring

My DC had one with flowers the whole way round but not had any luck finding it again for you, will keep looking just incase.

VenusClapTrap · 06/12/2018 22:52

Ooh thanks Oldwestaction and Reaa!

42andcounting · 06/12/2018 23:27

Wow, this all makes my "unicorn swimsuit with a real horn that actually sticks out from my chest" look like a breeze Grin

anneofavonlee · 06/12/2018 23:55

My dd wanted a Chinese takeaway container one year. No problem, I though t (although odd request). The only thing was though that she only wanted one, wrapped in original cellophane packaging Hmm. They only came in 10's so if I opened them it wouldn't be wrapped obviously. I told her the elves were having difficulty locating the cellophane machine that individually wraps presents and would she mind it wrapped in something else....The answer was no and she would prefer a dog bowl instead Hmm.

JuniperBeer · 07/12/2018 00:30

@venusclaptrap if you put “flower mood ring” into google you get loads!

Chacharaawr · 07/12/2018 00:44

If anyone (much more creative than I evidently am) can help me I would be really grateful.
My 5 year old has begged for a real magic wand that does real magic not pretend tricks.

moredoll · 07/12/2018 01:00

On eBay atm
has a funicular mode according to the description, but is just one car

Might not fit with the Brio. The description is a bit wordy, but if you're going to try making one it might do as an inspiration.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 07/12/2018 01:17

I mean they exists but he wants a full watermelon and a full chocolate cake that he doesn’t have to share 😂

moredoll · 07/12/2018 01:23

from the Ugears website
We definitely can say that a child of 14 years old can assemble our models. Sometimes he will need parents’ help. Our mission - is to unite children and their parents.

So lots of bonding time. And as your DS is only 9 you'll have the opportunity to finely hone your model making skills.

Penguinsetpandas · 07/12/2018 01:23

Well DD has asked for a white mountain dog or a St Bernard or an alpaca. They exist but Hmm

tinatsarina · 07/12/2018 01:49

It says funicular but I'm not sure that it is

halfwitpicker · 07/12/2018 01:57

I want a brain implant chip to enable me to speak perfect French

playftseforme · 07/12/2018 02:06

Mine want really obscure evolved plush pokemon that they pick from the Pokemon encyclopedia. Last year it was a Snorlax "as big as me" - which I actually managed Xmas Grin - amazing what you can find on ebay from China. This year literally no-one is making the ones they've selected...

StoppinBy · 07/12/2018 02:13

My daughter asked for 'ice magic' in a box meaning the magic that Elsa in Frozen has. Santa mistakenly thought she meant ice magic the ice cream topping in a box lol.

Wolfcub · 07/12/2018 08:14

42 and counting would she settle for a costume with a flowing mane instead - accessorise seem to do one

Reaa · 07/12/2018 09:29

Chacharaawr

Real magic wand (the best I can find that might satisfy
