Do you like the film Love Actually?

I always cry at the beginning, when Hugh Grant is talking about love around us and the arrivals terminal at Heathrow. How the messages from people at the Twin Towers were all messages of love and not hate 😭

But I feel somewhat stabby at Miss Knightly saying "I look quite pretty" - Well of course you do, you're a bloody actress/model.

I adore Alan Rickman, even though he was a fool.

I love Colin Firth, and Billy Mack the rockstar makes me chuckle.

Emma Thompson (obviously).

Roman Atkinson, he helped the boy get through security. I didn't notice that before.

All my in laws say it's rubbish Grin they are not in my good books

Loved it when I was a teenager and had an optimistic outlook on life. Hate it, really can't stand it now. Absolutely love 4 weddings but I feel like love actually tried way too hard to be typically "British" and appeal to the USA market.

Flamingosnbears · 04/12/2018 17:38

Fab film love it

christmaschristmaschristmas · 04/12/2018 18:03

Love it. Watch multiple times every xmas!

ForalltheSaints · 04/12/2018 18:50

I don't, and wish I had not seen it (on tv). Typical Richard Curtis drivel.

itbemay · 04/12/2018 19:01

The Emma Thompson scene where she plays the Joni Mitchell CD always get me

ScreamingValenta · 04/12/2018 19:04

No, actually!

ChodeofChodeHall · 04/12/2018 19:24

Never seen it, don't fancy it. It looks cringetastic!

sammylady37 · 04/12/2018 19:55

I love it. I could do without the kris Marshall storyline and billy Mack too, but otherwise I really enjoy it. It’s just utter escapism. I always watch it after putting up my tree, and accompanied by a glass or two of wine.

shirleyschmidt · 04/12/2018 20:31

No I literally HATE it. I just find it toe-curlingly cringe. The scene where hugh grant has a go at the POTUS, with the cheesy music, agh I can't even think about it 😂🙈

shirleyschmidt · 04/12/2018 20:33

I do like the Emma Thompson-Alan rickman storyline though, find it quite moving.

fluffiphlox · 04/12/2018 20:36

Cynical claptrap.

BlueBell50 · 04/12/2018 20:43

Absolutely love it, can watch it over and over again 🙂

Lottapianos · 04/12/2018 21:01

'The scene where hugh grant has a go at the POTUS, with the cheesy music, agh I can't even think about it'

Can't argue with that! It's truly awful. There are definitely some parts of Love Actually that are totally indefensible!

Unihorn · 04/12/2018 21:18

I love it. It's my first "winter" film that starts my Christmas season off, along with Bridget Jones. If you analyse it then, yes, it's sexist and awful etc etc but I don't take films that seriously so can't get wound up.

Clawdy · 04/12/2018 22:22

When I first saw it at the cinema, the "have a go at the President " scene raised a huge cheer in the audience, as it was what most people were wishing Tony Blair had said to Bush!

Doublevodka · 04/12/2018 22:41

I enjoy a feel good film, but really loathe Love Actually. It tries too hard to be funny and makes me cringe.

Riddo · 04/12/2018 23:16

I love it. We watch it every Christmas. My favourite line is "Ant or Dec" 🙂

HelenaDove · 05/12/2018 01:30

There was a same sex relationship in it that was cut from the film in favour of the Kris Marshall storyline The couple were played by Anne Reid and Frances de la Tour if i remember correctly and one of them was terminally ill.

NewYoiker · 05/12/2018 01:34

AND HES GOT A BIG KNOOOOOB !!

Milliy · 05/12/2018 02:35

Love it

Milliy · 05/12/2018 02:36

And The Holiday Smile

TheDowagerCuntess · 05/12/2018 02:46

I love and loathe it.

Billy Mack, HG's dance, Rowan, Colin, nativity lobsters, I hate Uncle Jamie, etc.

But there are parts that make you cringe so hard you'd implode.

ToeCleavage · 05/12/2018 04:09

It’s a misogynistic piece of fat-shaming shit. Seriously.

Patroclus · 05/12/2018 05:51

Ohhh you're right Clawdy of course. I used to like that program years ago. Might have to give it another go.

LucheroTena · 05/12/2018 06:05

Richard Curtis is a terrible writer, it’s like he’s not British but trying to ape what someone who is, might come out with.

Also misogynist rubbish.

And cringe.
