Christmas film adoration and rant!

I love Christmas movies. They are filling my Saturdays currently (tragic).

BUT

I’m getting very hacked off with the ‘re-write history’ ones, as it inevitably seems to say that someone who chooses their career is missing out, and that a —mundane— family life is superior.

They never seem to show it the other way round. I realise that’s not Christmassy, but come on!

They have taught me a valuable lesson though. I’m still single, as I haven’t yet met Santa’s heir 😂

It's terrible, and I can't stop watching!

That's how you know it's a good one Grin

I watched the Mistletoe Inn today, its the one with the writers conference. It was pretty good but of course I saw the 'twist' straight away Xmas Grin.

DMCWelshCakes · 11/12/2018 13:57

I'm watching one with Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Slater from Saved by the Bell in. Something about toy shops?

I would check but the Channel 5 app is so shit I daren't press anything in case I fry it again!

PrivateEggnog · 11/12/2018 14:09

Obviously you couldn't watch these films without suspending disbelief, but Murder, She Baked takes the biscuit Xmas Grin

I even said "oh FFS" out loud at one point. It must have been bad!

@PiePieChickenPie , I recorded Window Wonderland today so will look forward to seeing that.

Last film seen: The Nine Lives Of Christmas . Very cute. Hero is incredibly handsome firefighter who likes cats. Heroine is perky veterinary student. Hero is going out with woman who is total witch and wants him to get rid of his cat (Boo!) There are several cute and very well-trained cats and a heart-warming ending involving misuse of a fire engine. Ticks all the boxes for me! DCat watched it with us and also enjoyed it.

TheZeppo · 12/12/2018 06:44

That’s Ambrose the cat! Favourite!

Omg! I watched the one with the Irish Christmas village. It was the worst and most hilarious thing I've ever seen! Grin

Unihorn · 15/12/2018 23:13

I actually had to turn the Irish village one off so it must've been bad!

We did Christmas Prince 1 and 3 yesterday on Netflix. Great weather for it at the moment Xmas Grin

TheMadGardener · 17/12/2018 01:38

Oh yes, that was The Perfect Christmas Village. The fake Irish accents were hilarious. DH caught part of that one and he couldn't believe how bad it was!

Saw Marry Me At Christmas which was pretty good. She owns a small town bridal boutique, he's a famous film star.

So far Snowed Inn Christmas is still the best one I've seen this year.

ursuslemonade · 17/12/2018 02:42

Has anyone seen one on channel 5 a few weeks back about a bereaved woman going home to her parents house with her daughter for Christmas? (original plot I know)

She has 2 sisters, one who has moved back to parents house and a successful one with a husband?
Parents selling the house and main characters first (then) teen boyfriend wants to buy it as an investment? Had to stop watching it suddenly and now it bugs me.

NancyDonahue · 17/12/2018 11:21

Christmas connection is on channel 5 now. Another widower with a cute kid and a predictable ending. It's shit but I'm glued Wink

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 17/12/2018 12:52

Got a feeling that Let It Snow is in today. Ch5 and predictable but I love it.

TheMadGardener · 17/12/2018 15:27

@ursuslemonade , I think the film you are thinking of was Last Christmas At Home . Have you checked on the Demand 5 app?Loads of these films are now on there to watch.

Heuschrecke · 17/12/2018 15:36

I'm watching one called A Perfect Christmas on Ch5 at the moment spoiler alert! (beware, there seem to be a few films called A Perfect Christmas!) This one is weird Xmas Hmm

Unihorn · 17/12/2018 16:18

I watched the Christmas Contract on Sky this afternoon, excellent!

ursuslemonade · 17/12/2018 17:55

Thank you TheMadGardener, that's the one.

NancyDonahue · 18/12/2018 10:07

I'm halfway through 'A Christmas to remember'.

TV personality goes to Colorado for a break over the festive season. She crashes her car on the way and is found wandering in the dark with amnesia by a handsome rich widower with cute kids. We all know where it's going...

However, I'm seriously bugged by a few things.

She had no bags when she was found but she has a perfect different christmassy outfit every day. Plus perfect make up. Plus perfect curled hair. Where is this stuff coming from?

Her photo is distributed on the internet but yet no one knows who she is Hmm. If they did a reverse Google search they would soon find out!

I think I've watched too many of these movies and I'm starting to lose the magic Shock

Unihorn · 18/12/2018 15:19

Anyone else watching Christmas Coincidence on C5 currently? Enjoying it so far! There's always an inn Grin

Heuschrecke · 18/12/2018 16:14

That's the film I appear to be watching at the moment, Unihorn, but I only turned it on about 5 minutes ago - so haven't got a clue what's happening yet!!!

ParadiseLaundry · 18/12/2018 16:26

@NancyDonahue iirc she is wearing the deceased mother's clothes (so possibly make up and styling tools too, although that seems a bit odd!)

Also I don't think she's a big celeb, just on a food cable channel and then just getting her big break so to speak so the fact that she was missing wouldn't be big news. Not that I've seen it three times or anything Blush

PrivateEggnog · 18/12/2018 19:07

The name The Christmas Coincidence made me laugh. That could be the name of so many of these films... Xmas Grin

Unihorn · 18/12/2018 19:37

@Heuschrecke I loved it! Proper classic Christmas film. She's engaged but not sure about it and she goes to stay with family in a cute Christmas town but through dubious circumstances ends up at a snowy Inn owned by a handsome man Grin

NancyDonahue · 18/12/2018 19:43

paradise I must have missed that bit. How morbid wearing his dead wife's clothes and make up! I did enjoy it though. Very cute kids Smile. Her boyfriend was such an arsehole. They always are aren't they? Smile

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 19/12/2018 11:20

Let it Snow on now Ch 5. Have seen it loads of times.

It's got Robin Thicke's Dad in it.

And I want the character of Karla to actually exist...and may have tweeted the actress to tell her so

Figmentofimagination · 19/12/2018 14:05

I'm currently watching a royal Christmas ball. I am cringing at the British accents.
