The price of a Costa Coffee mince pie (and other eyebrow raising prices) !

Because I am fat and don't have a sweet tooth I never have anything to eat in a coffee shop so perhaps I'm very behind the times - but aibu to be shocked that they wanted £2.20 for a mince pie in Costa yesterday? They were flogging them at the till. I'm afraid I snorted at the idea I might want to pay that for 1 mince pie (and yes I know I'm sounding like my mother).

Any prices/charges that have made you do a double-take recently?

Ok in the interests of research into this I had a Costa mince pie and I can declare it was 100% worth the money.

More like eating short bread with mince meat.. luxurious

Yep, "Costa fortune" here too!

We're just back from New York and neither of us could get over the prices. We have gone to NYC every year since 2013 but this time we both noticed a massive increase in the price of... well... pretty much everything, even just since the last time we visited. People have said previously that it's an expensive city but I've maintained that, like Paris or other "expensive" cities, it's as expensive as you make it.

However, this time even every day things like a bottle of water were extortionate and we found ourselves saying "no" to many more things during the trip. We spent the week screeching "NINE DOLLARS FOR A SUPERMARKET SANDWICH??" at each other Blush

A Sunday lunch for a family of four cost us £120 shock. That's for four roast dinners, soft drinks and a single beer for my oh and desserts for kids only.

Bloody hell was it wagu beef?

Where i work that would cost just over £50 for full roast dinners and puds. (but no beer)
But a large mug of tea is only £1.30😀
Our cakes with cream or ice cream are £3.50 but they are huge and home made😀
