Can't find my way out, the only stairs I can see go to a car park
Ah well

Before we moved our Waitrose was on floor 7 - it's the same one pp we're talking about. It's nicer than my two nearest ones but sadly too far for a weekly visit now

MyFriendGiraffrey · 17/11/2018 23:57

Many years ago I managed to lose my way in Debenhams (I think?) in Reading. I had a basket of unpaid for items and kept going up the escalators until I found myself suddenly outside of the store, in the car park! I panicked at my unintentional shoplifting and went back inside. I found somewhere to pay straight away after that but couldn't work out how to leave.

TattiePants · 18/11/2018 00:17

I'm jealous of everyone with a Waitrose that's big enough to get lost in. In the North East we're too down market to have a branch!

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2018 11:50

I'm in the North East! That's why I always go into a waitrose when I find one
We had one once for about six months in the nineties. Did you miss it?

Well, had a very pleasant experience in mine this morning. Normally hate going on Sundays, and I have a chest infection so wasn't sure if I could cope with the hoards, but it was very calm and gently festive.

Had a lookout for lost shoppers by the lifts, but it was more of a social meetup for the CW regulars today.

(Obs now outing myself for all my fellow 7th floor shoppers who know that I've been ill in bed since Thursday afternoon Grin)

Craftycorvid · 18/11/2018 17:29

Breathe, OP! Follow the line created by the shelves of 72 varieties of pesto (all labelled ‘essentials’) Grin You will find your way out eventually.

CandleWithHair · 18/11/2018 18:16

@Otterses how on earth did you manage that? There’s one bridge with a very obvious exit either side! Grin

I'm in the Northwest and we have just lost 2 near to me - not sad at all, I really don't get the WR love. Much prefer Sainsbury's.I'm obviously too downmarket to appreciate quality but in seriousness it has never enraptured me.

Also don't forget we have Booths up in these parts!!

I get lost in Ikea - every single time (apparently it is intentional to increase spend - that could be rubbish though).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/11/2018 18:25

It was just like that scene from Jurassic Park with the velociraptors in the kitchen.

Now I'm envisaging your MIL going a screech of triumph, charging towards you and bouncing off a stainless steel under bench unit! As she lies stunned, pearls flying everywhere, one neat court shoe lost beneath the fridges, and twin-set horribly clicked, you and baby Dinosaur scuttled away to hide among the "sale" bins (always safe - there are thousands of people there, flocking like seagulls sound a tip) until it was safe to emerge.

Tiscold · 18/11/2018 18:28

Don't worry mine is way worse.

I was on a management training at an m&s store, 2nd day, got asked by a customer where the exit was, confidently led them to what i belived was the exist (it was the entry to the warehouse), turned around apologised and we both spent 15 minutes finding the actual exist.

When people asked what i was doing after, i said assisting the customer as they wanted my opinion on the clothing ranges etc so they could go home and order online Grin

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2018 18:33

They wanted to leave but you managed to keep them browsing in the store for longer? Well done you!

I got trapped in John Lewis once. Luckily I had no make up on and dishevelled hair so the security guard soon appeared to help out!! Wink

StealthPolarBear · 18/11/2018 18:36

I started a thread once in John Lewis as I was considering shoplifting. It was less stressful than trying to find a till

I once got lost in a massive Sports Direct. I went up an escalator and entered what seemed to be a giant wall-to-wall nylon tracksuit maze and got hopelessly lost. I can't even walk past one now without coming out in a cold sweat!

CatAndMice · 18/11/2018 18:45

I know the thread‘ so moved on a bit, but I’d love to get lost in IKEA - I’d move into one of those mini flats they have set up for display

WickedGoodDoge · 18/11/2018 18:51

Jenner’s in Edinburgh is a maze. I used to love working there and helping lost customers who didn’t realise that it was unusual for a lift to go to the floor they actually wanted.

Tiscold · 18/11/2018 18:56

That was obviously my attention Grin

Tiscold · 18/11/2018 18:57

Intention, the management scheme clearly wasn't that good Grin

borntobequiet · 18/11/2018 19:10

I always get lost in John Lewis in Southsea. I don’t know why, it’s not even very big. I then cross the road and get lost in Debenhams.
For family reasons, this happens every year.

borntobequiet · 18/11/2018 19:12

Dear God and I had forgotten JL in Southsea is Knight and Lee!

BouleBaker · 18/11/2018 19:16

chocolatebourbom I love those glass lifts in John Lewis Southampton. when IKEA opened West Quay got all huffy because IKEA was now between them and the view of the sea from the Food Court. IKEA then put up a great big sign saying "Our Meatballs are Cheaper' or something so it was all you could see from the WestQuay Food Court.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/11/2018 19:21

Everybody in Newcastle feels the same.

LookingThroughTheLookingGlass · 18/11/2018 19:37

.... wait... your Next has a cafe?!
Where?!
I’m not sure that’s even natural

spiderlight · 18/11/2018 19:53

I've never got lost in a Waitrose but I did once have a very nice assistant point out to me very apologetically that they needed me to go please because they were trying to close. I was browsing the naice magazines while waiting for DH to choose some beer and we hadn't noticed that they were progressively turning off the lights around us. We were the last people in the store and they'd kept one till open for us Blush

Member745520 · 18/11/2018 19:55

OP you're in Windsor? Well I haven't been in that Waitrose for over thirty years but if you do manage to get out and they haven't moved the site in the meantime you can access the bottom of Peascod Street (I think by walking through Boots) and walk up to the top and see the castle... I think that's probably still there - and probably easier to get out of Grin
