Has anyone seen the new Boots advert?

Saw it for the first time today and it’s the first time I’ve almost vomited in my own mouth watching an advert! I saw lots of people on Twitter really liked it, it made them smile and cry but honestly I found it awful! What do you think? Am I an insensitive monster for gagging at ‘she’s me mum’?!

It didn’t make me cry but didn’t make me gag on my own vomit either. It’s quite sweet but an overall unremarkable Christmas ad imo.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 13/11/2018 20:53

Argh I’ve just seen it!

I don’t think it’s sweet at all, it’s twee and awful.

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 13/11/2018 22:56

I hate it with a savage, unreasoning rage. I can't quite put my finger on quite why I just do! That and that horrible little gremlin thing on the Argos ad are just nasty

CatAndMice · 13/11/2018 23:04

I don’t get it. The lyrics annoy me and it doesn’t make sense. Don’t know what I’m missing.

HelenaDove · 13/11/2018 23:18

i found it quite touching but my DM is not well at the moment.

i really liked last years one on female friendship.

Homemadearmy · 14/11/2018 01:15

I really like it, it’s my favourite Christmas advert. But I’m a single parent too and it’s so hard. My kids are actually not to unappreciative and I’m not overly materialistic but I do love it when they buy something that they know I will love. I had years when they were small and I didn’t get any presents and I know I’m a adult and Christmas is for the kids, but it’s so lovely getting something back

Rachelover40 · 14/11/2018 01:18

I think it's delightful, very touching.

BadgersBiggestFan · 14/11/2018 01:19

I don’t like the ‘me mum’ but she would have preferred ‘my mum’ 🙄

AlrightBabby · 14/11/2018 01:31

I think it's quite a nice advert, I really don't get the way some people think Shock

Choccywoccyhooha · 14/11/2018 01:36

Yeah, it's not for me (although I thought last year's was very sweet). But I'm the type of person who has to switch of Steve Wright's Love Song thing on the radio because it makes me want to vomit and rip my own ears off.

CatAndMice · 14/11/2018 02:01

The 'me mum' sounds forced and false - like the singer does not normally speak like that (could be totally wrong) but it does jar a bit.

Oct18mummy · 14/11/2018 02:42

Think it’s a great advert - I have a teenage daughter so can completely relate. It brings me to tears

HelenaDove · 14/11/2018 02:56

my mum always encouraged me to wear make up not the other way around, Smile my first make up was the Little Blossom stuff from Avon.

Im not keen on the Argos ad. That little monster/gnome thing in it is well creepy.

i bloody LOVE the Aldi ads.

Vitalogy · 14/11/2018 03:42

The programs are bad enough, never mind the adverts.

PineappleTart · 14/11/2018 04:53

Hate it. Me mum? Uh.

TheHatOfDoom · 14/11/2018 08:33

I think my mum wouldn’t fit the tune but I like it other than the me bit so I’ll forgive them.

JaneJeffer · 14/11/2018 08:45

I bet nobody likes it as much as Robbie does. That's Christmas paid for. I can't stand it.

ShatnersWig · 14/11/2018 08:50

Nope but I saw the Sainsbury's one last night as Twitter was gushing over it. My response - so, Christmas is only for parents and kids then?

Buddyelf · 14/11/2018 08:53

I'm glad I am not the only one who didn't like it. @SuperstarDJ sorry I was being a bit facetious, I didn't actually gag on vomit - just almost did Grin

Shirleyphallus · 14/11/2018 08:55

Ah I think it’s quite sweet. Not particularly nauseating.

ALemonyPea · 14/11/2018 08:56

I like it, it made me laugh rather than cry, mainly because I have a 15 year old who always tells I'm spoiling his fun.

The Argos one creeps me out.

ZaZathecat · 14/11/2018 08:58

I think it's quite touching, but the gift looks underwhelming!

CookPassBabtridge · 14/11/2018 09:22

I think it's lovely, apart from making her take her makeup off! Don't do that to a teenage girl Shock

HarrietKettleWasHere · 14/11/2018 09:46

In front of her mates as well!!

formerbabe · 14/11/2018 09:52

It's dreadful... absolutely vomit inducing.
