Tailgated by boy racer....then....karma?

Tonight I was driving home from work and was severely tail gated by an idiot in a fiesta. We are talking bending country roads with blind corners and tight bends. This guy was so close that I was scared he was going to hit me. I couldn't pull over at any point as there was no safe place for overtaking anyway. Eventually we come to a stretch and I let him past.
A few minutes later I see hazard lights up ahead. The idiot had tried to overtake on a blind corner and had to swerve out of the way of a poor lady who was shaking like a leaf. Boy racer idiot was 30ft into a field with the entire back end of his car off. He wasn't badly hurt.
Is it wrong that I was slightly smug that he came to such an accident. He could have killed someone so I can only hope he is off the road for some time.

Yes that is karma... Scary experience x

ShovingLeopard · 09/11/2018 20:35

YANBU. One can only hope he has learned a hard lesson for the future.

simonisnotme · 09/11/2018 20:37

that is good karma !
hope the lady is not too shaken up by the twunt

Notquietrichenough · 09/11/2018 20:39

When I was a child, an idiot in a yellow sports car over took my Dad at 100mph on a duel carriage way. Vivid memories of my Dad saying, he'll crash before he gets home.

We caught up with him five mins later, crashed at the side of the road. Police had just arrived.

No idea of the outcome, we were waved past by the police. Complete silence in our car for the rest of our journey.

eggncress · 09/11/2018 20:39

Yes, I would have felt the same. Think of it positively in that he had an accident without killing himself or ( worse) someone else so hopefully he will think twice about driving like an idiot.
Better still, his insurance will go up so much he won’t be able to afford to drive again until he’s 30!
Hope the lady was ok.

IncomingCannonFire · 09/11/2018 20:41

Hope you gave the lady your details as a witness.
Some people are just....! Angry

Autumnchill · 09/11/2018 20:46

Had similar years ago, boy racer in CTR, seen driving like a cock on numerous occasions and once when I was driving to Leeds, so close to the back of my car I couldn't see his headlights. Anyway, one day he decided to cut up the inside of a Lorry and came a cropper pinned between the Lorry and a road sign. Took great joy in going past him very slowly while he was stood at the roadside scratching his arse Grin

Shirleyphallus · 09/11/2018 20:49

I couldn’t ever be glad of someone being in an accident, however much I felt they deserved it

Some of these responses are nasty

janisposh · 09/11/2018 20:50

It's not nice karma though is it?

AmIthatbloodycold · 09/11/2018 20:53

I'm happy to be "nasty"

As long as the other driver was okay, I would have enjoyed it

ProudThrilledHappy · 09/11/2018 20:53

I had similar, tailgated by a little white van who made obscene aggressive gestures at me when he overtook.

Overtook him a few minutes later having been pulled over by the regular police speed check team in that area Grin

What a fucking awful thing to say

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 09/11/2018 20:54

Well I'm a bloody glad it happened to him.

I hope it shook him up, and knocked some sense into him.

It could have been an innocent family.

Annechristmas · 09/11/2018 20:55

My exh was once being tailgated so he pulled over and the other driver shot past straight through a speed camera which flashed him!

AmIthatbloodycold · 09/11/2018 20:56

I'm happy with that Shirley

Omgineedanamechange · 09/11/2018 21:00

FFS, the op said no one was hurt. I’d have been cheering too. Serves the little fecker right, and hopefully teaches him a lesson before it’s too late and he kills either himself, or someone else.

Lucked · 09/11/2018 21:00

I was once terribly tailgated on the motorway. Rush hour and couldn’t go any faster (because at speed limit and car infront). I moved over to let him pass and he immediately tail gates the car infront who also pulled in let him and past. At this point he had some clear road and floored it. Turns out car in front was actually a unmarked police car and when he went over the limit they turned there lights on.

One of the best moments of my life.

mossyroundhill · 09/11/2018 21:01

I think I would have been more angry that he almost killed someone than smug
What if he just carries on driving the way he does? Might not be the first time he's done it, might not bother him at all. But it's probably frightened the life out of that poor woman.

nocoolnamesleft · 09/11/2018 21:08

It might give him a wake up call. If it does, it could save his life. Or someone else's. Not exactly a bad thing.

loobylou10 · 09/11/2018 21:08

These people who say it's bad to wish karma on this driver - rubbish. I'm glad the little idiot hopefully got the shock of his life. Might wake him up to the fact that he needs to calm down before he kills someone.

IAmNotLikeThem · 09/11/2018 21:11

I had the same OP as a young mother with a child in a car seat was flashing me to pull over in a dual carriageway while overtaking. She was 5 feet behind my car and I was doing 70.

I had a satisfied smirk at a driver yesterday. They tried to nip round the queue at a roundabout by going straight on from a clearly marked left turn only lane. By the time I got to the front of the queue, they were pulling over with the car they'd just driven in to.

SoupDragon · 09/11/2018 21:14
