Would you walk through the woods at night?

Pitch black at 6pm, with no lights. So dark you can't see your own feet.

The walk is about 10 minutes.

Never.

BiggFactHunt · 06/11/2018 19:38

Erm, not without an enormous dog and a bright head torch no.

TigerDroveAgain · 06/11/2018 19:38

Yes, of course: with a torch to avoid tripping over roots.

NashvilleQueen · 06/11/2018 19:38

Alone? Ok area? With a torch? Probably if I had to but I’d prefer not to. Would need some light tho as I’m a wuss.

redwineandcrisps · 06/11/2018 19:39

Nope! I’m a total wimp though - I get nervy walking to the shop in the dark never mind through a wood!

CluedoCat · 06/11/2018 19:39

Okay area but there have been a few incidents, as with most places.

Lol no. I don’t want to be raped/trip and fall down a steep bank (very clumsy me).

TristanDaCunha · 06/11/2018 19:39

No!

AmandaBuffamonteezi · 06/11/2018 19:41

I'd probably do it with the torch on my phone switched on.

BiteyShark · 06/11/2018 19:41

I once did this with a torch and my dog. Both me and the dog were very nervous because all we could hear was the wind rustling though the trees and animals making noises but couldn't see anything. We never bothered again as neither of us liked it Grin

Allycumpooster · 06/11/2018 19:41

Yes, no problem.

angandbaby19 · 06/11/2018 19:42

No chance

Theyprobablywill · 06/11/2018 19:42

Would depend why. To save a 20 minute walk on a busy road, yes. Because I thought it sounded like fun. No.

justchangingagain · 06/11/2018 19:42

As a one of probably but certainly not regularly.

Spudlet · 06/11/2018 19:43

No, but I walk my dog around the fields in the dark. I don't like the woods as it's so much darker - on a night with a full moon, you hardly need a torch on a field path.

RaininSummer · 06/11/2018 19:43

No. I was a bit freaked out crossing through my city centre park last night and it was only five thirty.

RedLife · 06/11/2018 19:43

Did the "incidents" happen in the woods?

SnuggyBuggy · 06/11/2018 19:43

I'd probably freak myself out

E20mom · 06/11/2018 19:44

No way.

But as a kid I did as it was my walk home from high school all alone!

Ta1kinpeece · 06/11/2018 19:44

On my own
no

With my family
OH YES
a good night walk is a thing of wonder

we do them regularly on holiday - no lights, let your eyes adjust to the dark, use your ears
WONDERFUL

IncomingCannonFire · 06/11/2018 19:45

No. Even in our very naice upper middle class area. I was quite nervous out running along a busy main road next to some woods because I doubt many drivers would notice if I was pulled in.
Only ever with others or if I had massive dog/ pepper spray and knew self defence.

BarbaraofSevillle · 06/11/2018 19:45

Not on my own. The risk of attack is probably not as great as falling over etc, but I have mountain biked in the woods at night with DP or in groups and it is quite liberating.

Although once there was only me and one other woman (no-one else turned up so we decided to put our big girl pants on and ride anyway) and half way round she decided to tell me that a woman had been raped in those woods a few days ago - cheers mate!

Another friend also got flashed at in those woods when she was running on her own at dusk.

I suppose in the OP it would depend on the circumstances - clear flat path, lots of commuters going home, urban area, time saving short cut, big torch, maybe? After all you'd do it without question at the same time in daylight.

3out · 06/11/2018 19:45

Nope. Too scared of rats.

CherryPavlova · 06/11/2018 19:46

Yes, I frequently do to drop meals to neighbours or walk the dog. I think it’s probably safer than crossing a road.

FrogFairy · 06/11/2018 19:47

Nooo. Firstly I would probably fall arse over tit in the dark and secondly I would be thinking about the spooky dog sitting story on here where the OP ended up in a spooky dark wood.
