What are your DC having for dinner tonight (and you, obviously, if you’re eating together)? Looking for inspiration / ideas. Fed up of same old stuff and for once actually have time to cook something that takes longer than 5 mins.

OP posts:

Fish pie

stripeyfish · 26/10/2018 17:03

Chicken noodle soup. It's delicious and so easy to make.

OutragedEtc · 26/10/2018 17:04

Not very inspiring but sticky sausages in crusty baguettes with roasted wedges, onions and peppers

Grumpbum123 · 26/10/2018 17:04

H took the children out for lunch where apparently they had a full English breakfast. So for dinner they’re having a sandwich, chopped veg and fruit. I’m having a chicken wrap as I can’t be bothered to cook and H can make himself toast or a sandwich

Something beige from the freezer. Bite me.

theboxofdelights · 26/10/2018 17:07

Just me and DD, now 12 but I never did separate food, very small lamb joint (other half is now in the freezer) with garlic and rosemary, roast potatoes (total roast time 60 mins all in together), packet of three baby veg. As it is Friday I have made raspberry jelly and Delia’s dark chocolate mouse and we will have both during the course of the evening Grin.

Pork with prunes. Not sure how well the prunes will be received but they can be picked out. With spuds, purple sprouting broccoli and spinach.

Toad in the hole. Aunt Bessie's finest. DD won't eat my homemade version because it's just not as good as aunt Bessie's. We'll have carrots and broccoli on the plate as well, but I suspect she won't bother with the veg.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 26/10/2018 17:17

DD (3) has had sausage, jacket potato and peas. She is in a super picky phase (oh god, please let it be a phase!) and I didn't fancy a battle.

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 26/10/2018 17:18

Tuna pasta

CoffeebyIV · 26/10/2018 17:19

Chilli meatballs in a tomato and kale sauce. With pasta and garlic toast.

happypotamus · 26/10/2018 17:19

Veg pizza from the supermarket fresh pizza counter with salad (DC will probably eat minimal salad things), olives, coleslaw. Then DC2's birthday cake.

HeyMicky · 26/10/2018 17:21

Sweet potato burger in a bun with cheese, with raw carrots, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers on the side.

Other things they've had this week;

Roasted salmon, carrots and potatoes and peas
Chicken fried rice with peas, peppers and mushrooms
Spinach and ricotta cannelloni in tomato sauce

Other favourites:

Lamb and veg stew with cheesy orzo
Fish pie and baked beans
Sausage and root veg tray bake
Asian style chicken thighs and rice
Omelettes

We went out for lunch so ds is just having Mr Tumble tinned pasta and sausages Blush. His lunch was healthy so I don’t feel too bad.

Dh is out for the evening so I’m just going to have some Thai chicken soup (bought, not homemade). V lazy evening here tonight.

TeddyIsaHe · 26/10/2018 17:25

We’re having lamb tagine with cous cous and labneh tonight. It’s been cooking all day, the house smell amazing!

Pebblespony · 26/10/2018 17:26

Beans on toast with grated cheese. She got fed a proper meal at lunch though.

IHaveBrilloHair · 26/10/2018 17:30

Chuck it all in salad.
Basically anything in the fridge that can go into a bowl, it has lettuce, toms, cucumber, beetroot, olives, grated cheddar, cubed blue cheese, ham, pickled chillies.
I'll chuck garlic bread from the freezer in the oven to go with it.

Badwifey · 26/10/2018 17:32

Home made burgers and chips.

mamalovebird · 26/10/2018 17:37

Tomato soup with hot crusty rolls.

Other dinners this week:
Risotto
Fish cakes with corn in the cob
Puff pastry pizza
Pesto pasta

EwItsAHooman · 26/10/2018 17:43

Honey chilli pork stir fry with rice because none of them will eat noodles. Littlest is teething molars so screamed at hers until I took it away. Middle two ate their chicken and peppers. Biggest ate the lot.

Something beige from the freezer

That's my plan for tomorrow, McCain Tapas Wink

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 17:44

Pasta and broccoli in a tomatoey/garlicky/mushroom sauce with corn on the cob, cucumber and cherry toms on the side
Yoghurts and a flapjack afterwards

VenelopeVonSweetz · 26/10/2018 17:44

Dominos. Friday is treat night.

EwItsAHooman · 26/10/2018 17:46
