What are your DC having for dinner tonight (and you, obviously, if you’re eating together)? Looking for inspiration / ideas. Fed up of same old stuff and for once actually have time to cook something that takes longer than 5 mins.

Spag bol with veggie meatballs for us! (4, 8 and 11)

BloodyForeigner · 26/10/2018 17:53

Ooh, lots of good ideas here, thank you! I think I’m going to go with burgers tonight, but have also been reminded that it’s soup season! Chicken noodle soup is a firm favourite here but tomato and mushroom ones go down well too.

We've all had chicken and bacon pot pie followed by lemon cheese cake. Didnt have much to do today so spent the day cooking and baking.

youarenotkiddingme · 26/10/2018 18:05

Tuna pasta with sweet corn

He's a swimmer and training alter and racing Sunday so he's on a carb and protein load 😂

CakeNinja · 26/10/2018 18:06

They are having a sort of southern fried chicken dinner.
I’ve got the chicken fillets marinading in a buttermilk concoction and in a minute I’ll go and dunk it in the relevant coating and cook it.
They like this in wraps with lettuce and chilli sauce and I’ll cut them up some cucumber/tomatoes/peppers/avocado etc for a salad plate. Which makes them sound like they’re about 3 but the eldest 2 are 13 and 14 and still love salad like this Grin

Dp and I are having a steak dinner but won’t be until later on this evening.

scaredofthecity · 26/10/2018 18:10

We're all having jooles Oliver's sausage and Smokey bean stew... firm favourite in this house.

Dairy-free toad in the hole with roast potatoes and veg.

There will be disappointment at the lack of pudding.

Xiaoxiong · 26/10/2018 18:36

Scampi from the freezer, and white rice with broccoli, cheese and tomato mixed in.

Chicken pie, roast potatoes, carrots and brussel sprouts! It’s DS’s favourite tea!

annoyed1212 · 26/10/2018 18:54

chicken paninis in my George Foreman grill with salad and fries.

DS2 refusing but he will be raiding the biscuit tin later. I KNOW if I bribe him with a few sips of pepsi he will finish it all so what's the lesser of the two evils - chocolate digestives or some pepsi Blush

annoyed1212 · 26/10/2018 18:56

(Eating late today as meal times are always all over the place in the holidays. Could be why he's being fussy!)

MrsPear · 26/10/2018 18:58

It always amazes me when people say a sandwich because the children had a school dinner. Even if my children eat a school dinner they still want to eat a cooked meal in the evening - and I’m not deluded when I say they are healthy weight and height both checked by medics recently.

Anyway back to thread - roast pork, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrot and broccoli.

This week they have had fishfingers, cheesy pasta and cottage pie. Spag Bol tomorrow. Sunday we are out - ds2’sbirthday so meal out in a place of his choosing. Probably zizzi.

Stormwhale · 26/10/2018 18:59

I made a simple pasta sauce with onion, garlic, peppers, tomatoes, basil and seasoning. Dd had it with spaghetti and lots of cheese on top. She also had some sweet corn and lettuce on the side as that was what she fancied.

CoffeebyIV · 26/10/2018 19:10

Meatballs and pasta has turned into Indian takeaway. Order has been placed and can’t wait for it to arrive in a bit
