Mildmanneredmum - the OP added a photo of what she is aiming for.

First weekend of the school holidays...I'm a teacher and I use a lot of my decorations in my classroom 😂. I pack them up at the end of the last day of term, buy my tree on the way home, and up they all go again in my house 😊

It's pretty late this year though...we break up on Friday 22nd 😩😩😩 Ah well 🤷‍♀️ At least the tree 'should' survive until 6th Jan without looking too droopy this year!

In my house it goes up when we feel like putting it up and have the time.
I like it up ready for the 1st of December though, so it never goes up later than the 30th Nov.

We do devote the whole month to doing 'Christmassy things' in the build up though, going out to see the lights, seeing a Panto, Visiting Father Christmas, snuggling up watching films etc etc. Which is easier to enjoy when all the decs are up for me personally.
I love coming home to a Christmas grotto

Ours is going up on November 30th.
It usually gets done on the first but both DH and I are out at different events and on the 2nd we are hosting my side of the family for an early Christmas lunch (spending Christmas Day with the in laws) and I obviously want my tree and all our decorations up for that to make it feel Christmassy

I am an absolute Christmas Lover here!!

Our tree goes up in December, sometime when we have a few hours at home and by the weekend before Christmas (generally somewhere between 7th and 18th). The earliest I would do it is a weekend that falls after 26th November.

I am aiming for a few hours that DH is not home this year, as I plan to put up 2 trees and a garland along the stairs (we normally only do 1 tree and no garland). We have the 2 trees as we upgraded our tree last year and the old one still functions - so that may go in the playroom with the more colourful and kitsch decorations, letting me go for a more staid red and gold theme in the sitting room. And I have longed for a garland for years, but seen one I like this year which is not break the bank money.

Up a week before Xmas, down the day after boxing day. Short and sweet in our house as it's a massive tree (artificial) and takes up a lot of space. I work in school and couldn't bear the thought of it still being up by the time I go back!

Yesitwasmethistime · 25/10/2018 10:58

A week to 10 days before Xmas here, whenever a weekend falls. Then we take them down 2-4th Jan.

JimmyGrimble · 25/10/2018 11:00

Up 23rd December but not switched on until Christmas Eve. Down on twelfth night. You know ... actual Christmas!

Parker231 · 25/10/2018 11:27

Jimmy - for us Christmas is Christmas Day and Boxing Day - the Bank Holidays and then it’s New Year party preparations and the hope that we don’t have to work between Christmas and NY although DH is a local GP and will probably be working.

RomanyRoots · 25/10/2018 11:31

We put ours up the saturday after dd finishes school, this year it's the 15th Dec. I can't remember what day it was last year.
we usually take them down on the 1st January, philosophy being Christmas was last year and now we are in the New Year.
Works for us.

OutPinked · 25/10/2018 12:50

First of December

mumof2sarah · 25/10/2018 12:53

In my opinion you should put up your tress when you ever you want to xx

MissCalamity · 25/10/2018 13:21

After DS 's birthday which is the 15th of December & normally take them down the day after new years day.

FinallyHere · 25/10/2018 15:08

Advent decorations for the four Sundays in Advent (as in waiting ) then ideally Christmas eve for the tree. #oldschool

beeefcreep · 25/10/2018 15:42

@Miljah we have the same birthday!!!!! My mother would always wait until after my birthday as to keep the two separate. However the second you leave the house you are confronted with Christmas everywhere so it's a fruitless effort IMO.

Although this will be the first year it goes up beforehand so maybe my opinion will change!
