A few shops in my town have got their Christmas windows up and they look absolutely glorious!

Put your tree up when you fancy, if the tree is artificial there’s no mess so fill your boots.

LoniceraJaponica · 24/10/2018 20:13

As near to Christmas as I can get away with. If i put it up too early I am bored with the idea of Christmas before it has begun (and I can't wait to get rid of all the clutter that takes up too much space in the living room)

fairiesandelves · 24/10/2018 20:14

I've got a few newly bought bits up already

Just asked DH when he would like to do it and he replied "middle of November" I am shocked as he's usually not bothered about even having a tree!!!!!!

So 18th November it's going up!!!!

Been storing decorations in my car boot and it looks like it's exploding Christmas in there now

Beeefcreep yes sounds like my OH !! We put ours up mid nov too!! Can't wait. Doing stir up Sunday on 25 nov and doing a North Pole breakfast on sat 1st Dec for family and toddler grandson. House will be decorated and I'm doing festive food and giving everyone their advent calendars. We are all dressing as elves !!

PiperPublickOccurrences · 24/10/2018 20:28

So 18th November it's going up!!!!

That's about a month too early. Ridiculous.

ChilliPowderMild · 24/10/2018 20:34

I always counted back a week from the DC breaking up from school and did it then. I liked them going off to school (with all the Christmassy stuff going on) from a decorated house, but found if I did it too early they were sort of Christmassed-dec'd out by the end of term, had sore feet from falling pine needles, had eaten every chocolate on the tree, the tinsel round the banisters was torn, and the singing Snowman needed new batteries.

ForalltheSaints · 24/10/2018 20:36

Advent Sunday.

Doordowny · 24/10/2018 20:37

December 1st here. SIL puts her tree up mid October. Going to her house with all the trimmings up this early is embarrassing tbh Confused

Hedgehog80 · 24/10/2018 20:39

We put our tree up on 27 Nov each year. In memory of our first baby who we lost in the second trimester 18 years ago.
We chose to do that because I was getting very distressed each year and I needed to shift the focus but not forget. We have 5 more dc now and they all join in and it feels right it’s the start of Christmas for us x

dudsville · 24/10/2018 20:45

All Christmas stuff happens on December 1st (this yr, appropriate nearest weekend when it doesn't fall on a weekend) in our house. It all goes up and then good friends come over for food and wine to kick off the season. I love it so much, it's like a holiday day itself.

InterstellarScreamingElla · 24/10/2018 20:51

@Hedgehog80

My mum always puts hers up in November. I used to do it about the 20th December but now do it about the 7th, I take it down on 2nd January (I love that day as much as I love putting the tree up! By that point I am sick of it!)

InterstellarScreamingElla · 24/10/2018 20:52

@Hedgehog80 there should have been flowers for you but my emojis aren't working apparently.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 24/10/2018 20:55

The Sunday before Christmas here. If Christmas Day is a Monday, all the better. It usually goes down Boxing Day evening after the children have gone to bed.

Hedgehog80 · 24/10/2018 21:01

Thankyou x

littlebillie · 24/10/2018 21:04

I love seeing the Christmas trees going up so cheerful normally December for us

LongSummerDays · 24/10/2018 21:07

We're not putting a tree up this year as it's just the 2 of us and we don't really do Xmas. apart from presents and good food

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 24/10/2018 21:08

Love the tree is your picture! Will you post a picture when yours is done please?
Mine will be up on 1st, but I get a real tree so can’t go much earlier.

gothefcktosleep · 24/10/2018 21:08

1st Dec no matter how desperate you are!

Bananajam · 24/10/2018 21:32

If you put your tree up in November, how do you manage to keep it looking nice until 12th night?? It would drive me crazy to have the house decorated before December, Christmas seems to have too much of a build up already without starting too early at home.

beeefcreep · 24/10/2018 21:53

I am a serial faffer so will probably need it up a while so I can mess around with it time and time again to get it "perfect"!

Crunchymum · 24/10/2018 22:21

Second weekend in December for us.

ShatnersWig · 24/10/2018 22:22

Another one who doesn't decorate until around 14th December. I find it keeps it special somehow but appreciate others are mad enjoy making Christmas last a whole month. Each to their own.

A580Hojas · 24/10/2018 22:23

There is a Christmas topic.

10 days to a week before Christmas in this house if that helps.
