I expect she had a full fertility MOT before the wedding and was on every supplement or drug going that would help them to conceive quickly. The royals wouldn't leave anything like that to chance.

I started TTC at 36, and due to my age (and Endometriosis) thought it would take ages and that I'd have loads of issues, but it only took 3 months. My daughter is 8 months old now, and sometimes I look at her and the whole thing still feels kind of surreal!!

I'm expect Meghan had the same concerns regarding her age, with the added stress of the media spotlight, she must be so happy right now!

DH and I got me pregnant every time we did it at the right time in my cycle. 1st time I was 34.

Counting ourselves lucky not to have unplanned pregnancies...

So that's good and lovely news for them.

It took me eighteen months trying and three miscarriages to have DS. Everyone else I know has got pregnant either accidentally or within six months. I bet I'm the only one who's ever posted on a forum about it, and when things were bad I posted on here about it a lot. Places like this give you a skewed view because people don't talk about things that they're not worried about.

I think they'll go for a second one straight away as well.

3 of my 4 pregnancies occurred within a month and first pregnancy was well into 30s, last in my 40s. I think I was lucky but not particularly unusual.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but for the sake of conversation about this, fertility does depends on the male half of the couple as well remember :)

Neither of them have kids yet and so no cast iron guarantee of their fertility. They will have both wanted to get on with it quick.

With XH i got pregnant within weeks of trying. With beloved DH2 it took 2 years.

Would agree that I never mentioned to anyone but really close friends how quickly I got pregnant because it may upset someone. I'm sure lots of people are the same.

The thing is that you generally don’t know how long people tried to get pregnant unless they told you, and they’re more likely to tell you if it’s a long hard journey. So you know about people who’ve been trying for years, but the people who got pregnant the same month they started trying, you don’t hear anything except the baby announcement.

It’s not unusual at all to get pregnant in your mid/late 30s.

I got pregnant within a month of trying aged 40 about six months after I got married. Maybe, like me, she thought it would take longer and , anyway, it really is nobody's business.

I got pregnant within 2 weeks of coming off the pill, it does happen

I randomly had a dream about him about a year ago. He was in his army uniform (the beige desert colour) and we were beside a helicopter and i was shaken up by something (but looking fab) and he was kneeling by me, touching my hand and looking into my eyes earnestly saying ''i'm not going to leave your side. Don't worry'' in his plumy accent.

I got pregnant quickly. So quickly in fact that TTC was off the cards despite me being 2 weeks away from a missed period and having no confirmation other than my symptoms.

Also, I’ve known people who, shock horror, got pregnant before the wedding day.
