80s people-guess what I found in Sainsburys yesterday?

Lambrusco! White, rose and red. I had to get a bottle for nostalgia's sake. (And its 2.95 a bottle) It was the pre alcho pop fizzy drink of choice. And the red was more sophisticated (ha, who am I kidding?)
Any other long lost drinks that scream big hair and shoulder pads?

I have been looking for red lambrusco for bloody ages, we drunk shed loads of it in italy 2 years ago, our local tesco stocked it but i think i was the only person buying it so they stopped :(
Thanks op :)

In the 80s there was a drink called ‘The Legover’. It was cider and cherry brandy. Think it was called that as it was so potent that after a couple of them you were anybody’s 😀

marvelmum · 14/10/2018 21:07

Cherry B and Cider, pilsner

Mary1935 · 14/10/2018 21:08

Cherry B but with lemonade. Martin and lemonade - Midori and lemonade - did anyone ever drink Lutomer - it was a German wine - I nearly passed out after 2 glasses. Good old days.

wentmadinthecountry · 14/10/2018 21:08

Blue curacao and lemonade with a blue sobranie cocktail cigarette to match, or pernod and black (we used to call them slaggies - never knew why) with a black sobranie cocktail cigarette in hand. Never smoked them though. Very weird! I was something in my taffeta dresses and DJ! Bring back the 80s!

AlpacaLypse · 14/10/2018 21:09

K Cider. To show that you were more sophisticated than the other girls who went for Hooch.

Cambalamb · 14/10/2018 21:10

Cider and black.

AlpacaLypse · 14/10/2018 21:10

StoorieHoose · 14/10/2018 21:14

Ah the memories of spewing op malibu and fresh orange Envy (not envy)

I did like taboo, snakebites, hooch and I will admit to buckfast too. Bloody disgusting but drink of choice for the underage drinker in central Scotland

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 14/10/2018 21:14

Snakebite black was my drink was my drink of choice but that was early nineties.

I used to pay a pound a pint at university of Sussex Student union bar. Happy days.......

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/10/2018 21:15

We didn’t need alcopops in our day, we made our own 😂😂😂

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 14/10/2018 21:17

Snakebite and black with a double pernod dropped in.

gaggiagirl · 14/10/2018 21:18

Castaway
Mirage
Taboo
Hooch
Was babycham 80's?

Petalflowers · 14/10/2018 21:19

I still drink martini or cinnamon and lemonade.

I’d forgotten about Taboo. I loved peach schnapps and lemonade also. Also, Blue Nun brings back a lot of happy memories.

TruelyTruelyScrumptious · 14/10/2018 21:19

OoHH- when we leave the eu can we have snakebite back? I seem to remember it was banned due to eu legislation (or was that a myth) as you couldn't assure it was an equal half pint of each?

Boyskeepswinging · 14/10/2018 21:22

Nah, Babycham was 70s but add cider and you have an 80s classic. I'd forgotten Midori!!

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 14/10/2018 21:22

Blastaway - castaway and diamond white
Chunderbird was what we called Thunderbird.
But peach wine was pre-loading drink of choice for quite a while.
K cider is why I can't drink cider, I chucked it sooooo many times.

LEDadjacent · 14/10/2018 21:24

Wasn't a diamond white and a castaway called a Blastaway?

YES! Was lethal. Tasted like Lilt but packed a punch.

Greycat11 · 14/10/2018 21:25

Lol used to love that wine and piedmontello and also peach concord. Those were the days!

CalmConfident · 14/10/2018 21:27

Taboo and lemonade...my gateway drink to the world of pubs!
