Eugenie's Wedding Dress Thread - a small thread for the tiny minority of us who are interested.

Can this please be a pleasant thread? If you don't give a toss then please move on. I'm interested to see what sort of dress she wears. I'd love to see her in something that really reflects her character & I'm hoping for something with a bit of detail & not too plain.

But the security for Trump's visit was about average for a visiting head of state. Eugenie's wedding security cost was mainly down to that ridiculous carriage ride. She could've had a perfectly lovely wedding and stayed within the grounds of the castle but no, she had to copy her cousins.

MiniCooperLover · 13/10/2018 07:50

I think to be fair to Eugenie that it was Andrew who insisted on the carriage ride, he said he wanted her treated the same as Harry.

SamanthaBrique · 13/10/2018 07:53

She should've stood up to him then - it was her wedding! I've seen interviews with the York sisters and they come across as very young. Listening to them you wouldn't think they were late 20s and 30. Maybe time to cut the apron strings?

Edward and Sophie did a carriage ride as well...

Clionba · 13/10/2018 08:05

They do seem young for 28 and 30. I think they've led sheltered lives.

SamanthaBrique · 13/10/2018 08:14

@AngeloMysterioso But Edward is the son of the monarch. William will be king one day and Harry is the son the future monarch. A better comparison would be Peter and Zara who didn't have all this fuss.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 13/10/2018 08:16

I think Eugenie has a dark chocolatey voice somewhat reminiscent of Joanna Lumley's mellifluous tones and she could go into voiceover work if she wanted to step outside the royal bubble.

SoupDragon · 13/10/2018 08:26

Not really. They aren’t Prince/princess as the title doesn’t pass down from Anne because she is female and Phillip declined a title.

bevelino · 13/10/2018 08:28

Eugenie’s dress was stunning. Beatrice did not look like a maid of honour and her outfit was way too old for her. I felt sorry for Louise, poor lass.

FirstOfHerName · 13/10/2018 08:30

Both outfits were too old - that brocade fabric and style of Eugenie's dress looked more like something a 40yo bride would wear.

FirstOfHerName · 13/10/2018 08:31

And why is poor Louise always dressed so middle-aged? She's only 14 but gets put in the most matronly of outfits.

IpanemaChica · 13/10/2018 08:36

I thought they all looked gorgeous and very happy, especially Eugénie. I wish my granny had some lovely tiraras tucked away somewhere Smile

bestbefore · 13/10/2018 09:13

Anyone know if any of Sarah Ferguson's family were there? I know her parents aren't alive anymore but she has a sister and 2 half siblings....haven't seen any mention of them. It must be odd being on the other side of the family, but after all Sarah's sister is the brides Aunt same as Charles etc..

MaybeDoctor · 13/10/2018 09:17

I think the wedding has also done wonders for Prince Andrew’s public image. Some of the press about him in years gone by was absolutely scathing...

He was also proved right that people did want to watch it on telly!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/10/2018 09:25

He did himself no favours in that interview with ITV though, boasting about Eugenie and Jack having more friends than Harry. He came across as very boorish.

@bestbefore I imagine they were all there, but apart from Fergie's sister I wouldn't know what they look like. Her half siblings are quite a lot younger - closer to Beatrice's age than hers.

Clionba · 13/10/2018 09:31

I thought Andrew came across as he always does. Boorish and arrogant.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 13/10/2018 09:33

I’m not sure- I thought he was a bit tongue in cheek.

Also Eugenie & jack have been together for years whereas H & M it’s more a matter of months so the friends will be different.

It was the same for myself & my sister. She & BIL we’re together years before they tied the knot & they have couple friends whereas dh & I don’t. No different. She had loads more guests than I did!

Clionba · 13/10/2018 09:38

I think there's a bit of a difference between friends and celebrity acquaintances. Maybe they do hang out with Ricky Martin, Demi Moore, Pixie Geldof and Stephen Fry. Who knows.

SamanthaBrique · 13/10/2018 09:39

Andrew is an idiot, always has been. And I thought it looked like they invited everyone they'd ever met, just to compete with the Wales brothers. Are we really meant to believe that Eugenie is close friends with Demi Moore and Ricky Martin??

SamanthaBrique · 13/10/2018 09:48

Aha, mystery solved!

AngeloMysterioso · 13/10/2018 10:03

I do think people forget that Fergie has quite a few showbiz friends.

They had all sorts of randoms at H&M’s wedding and nobody batted an eyelid.

bevelino · 13/10/2018 10:03

The number and range of celebrities present was odd and it looked like someone had got their little black book of celebrity contacts out and rang round to see who was available.

beanaseireann · 13/10/2018 10:14

There were pictures of Fergies sister and family members - I just can't remember where I saw them- probably Daily Mail.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/10/2018 10:15

Yes, Oprah at H&M’s wedding. That was such blatant networking.
And only one Family member; Doria. The rest of Meghan’s side was filled with a few actual friends: colleagues from Suits, and a few Alister friends.
Meghan certainly has some chameleon like qualities.

There were a few Ferguson family members. Sarah’s stepmother & her half sister Alice ( who was a bridesmaid at her own wedding.)
I’m surprised Sarah’s own sister didn’t come over from Australia.

Fergie did look a little lost at the wedding. I hope she had a good time at the evening reception once the senior RF had gone home.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/10/2018 10:17

They had all sorts of randoms at H&M’s wedding and nobody batted an eyelid.

Did they? Like who? There were a fair few actors there but the majority of them were Meghan's former costars and I think Harry had worked with David Beckham in the past.
