Do you believe that Chem trails are the result of the government controlling our weather?

On of the more tame conspiracy therorys my dh states as fact!!

When we were younger apparently there were no trails behind planes. I’m not sure tbh.

What do you believe?

Love the project manager quote :)

I always thought conspiracy theories are primarily to do with making those in the know feel “special”?

LonginesPrime · 09/10/2018 09:48

I guess checking if the person you're dating believes the world is flat doesn't really come up in conversation. Why would you think to ask?

(It's on my list of first date topics from now on, though)

Troels · 09/10/2018 09:52

Very funny, maybe he never looked up as a child. I was a child in the 60's/70's and used to watch planes going over and remember the Contrails.
H's a dumb ass.

lovetherisingsun · 09/10/2018 09:54

My grandfather and grandmother were both in the RAF. There were contrails then, lmao.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/10/2018 09:54

Does he spend a lot of time on the David Icke forums?

SoyDora · 09/10/2018 09:58

Well no, but no otherwise sane and rational person has these sort of beliefs do they? I mean, there would be other signs...

Notjustanyone · 09/10/2018 09:58

The water supply wouldn't work because not everyone drinks water. I do but my dh doesn't.
Everyone has to breathe so it makes sense to drop the drugs from the sky.
Obviously it's all bullshit anyway so I actually don't know why I've even considered it.

NewLevelsOfTiredness · 09/10/2018 10:09

@LonginesPrime , in fairness when I was dating my girlfriend, and knew moving in with her and her daughters would obviously be a huge deal, I had to ask if she was an anti-vaxxer. I knew I simply couldn't go forward with it if she was!

I do love the thought that we've got the tech to alter the weather, but lack the tech to make the 'chemtrails' less visible.

explodingkitten · 09/10/2018 10:55

The FAQ of the flat earth society is quite entertaining though:

Why Would Earth Be The Only Flat Planet?

This betrays a logical fallacy. Karl Popper relates it like this; you may spend your whole life seeing only grey geese. This would lead you to assume there were only grey geese. Of course the next day you might wake up and see a white goose. Earth, in this analogy, is the white goose.

CocoDeMoll · 09/10/2018 11:01

methe he knows 9/11 was an inside job by the government and I’ve had to sit through a lot of online vids proving it actually I kind of think it was too as well.

The weather is being changed so we can grow things and be more economically stable (not my views!!). That’d where the profit is.

I really admire his faith in the ability of governments to carry out massive, complex technology projects.

CountessVonBoobs · 09/10/2018 11:30

Perhaps what he's mistaking for chemtrails are actually the fumes off his joint?

iklboo · 09/10/2018 11:32

Bet you go through tin foil at an alarming rate

sonjadog · 09/10/2018 11:33

How do you respond when he comes out with this crap? Do you pretend to take him seriously, or do you just laugh? And how can you respect him as a life partner when he thinks these things?

iklboo · 09/10/2018 11:35

The water supply wouldn't work because not everyone drinks water. I do but my dh doesn't.

What does your DH drink instead?

lottiegarbanzo · 09/10/2018 11:36

I believe that you can't argue with stupid.

Ifailed · 09/10/2018 11:37

iklboo I was thinking the same, you'd be dead within a week if you didn't consume water.

CottonTailRabbit · 09/10/2018 12:11

Seriously, how much do you both smoke?

HopeGarden · 09/10/2018 12:14

Not everyone drinks tap water, but people who don’t drink tap water must be getting fluids another way.

Bottled water, soft drinks, etc.

If the government was putting mind control drugs in tap water then I’m sure they’d also be able to add mind control drugs to bottled water and soft drinks at the relevant soft drink factories or water bottling places.

I suppose someone could just drink rainwater if they put some work into rainwater collection and storage, but I’d imagine that’s fairly unusual.

Andtheresaw · 09/10/2018 12:17

Of course. It is absolutely true.
Your DH is right. And the Prime Minister is an alien lizard in disguise. And the world is actually flat and being carried on the back of a giant space turtle. And dinosaurs were made up by scientists who didn't have anything to discover.

borntobequiet · 09/10/2018 12:18

Of course. They're doing a shit job of it, aren't they?

chemenger · 09/10/2018 12:45

You wouldn’t need to drink the water, skin absorption when washing would do.

SoyDora · 09/10/2018 14:49

I think it would be pretty hard not to ingest any tap water in day to day life. What about in cooking? When washing fruit and veg?

NeepNeepNeep · 09/10/2018 15:03

Pah. Chem trails is nothing. Google "morgellons" Confused

HopeGarden · 09/10/2018 15:03

There’s probably no point in using logical arguments against people who genuinely believe that the government put brain controlling chemicals in tap water.
