To get the phone call nobody wants

Had a call at 3.30am. My best friend in the whole entire world has been involved in a serious car crash. I've no way of getting to him.

I'm completely numb. I've had a brandy. I don't know what the fuck to do. He has very serious head injuries.

I won't be able to travel by train until tomorrow. I'm devastated. Don't know why I'm even posting. Maybe just for a hand hold.

That is such horrible news. How far away from him are you? Will you be able to get there quickly in the morning? So sorry to hear this.

I’ve had that call too. It’s fucking awful, no two ways about it.

Hi so sorry to hear this, have no advice but happy to handhold as needed. I've lost a friend to a serious head injury and had a relative injured and make a good recovery so will hope for a positive outcome for your friend x

Everything crossed it's a good outcome. My friend survived a horrible crash and is totally fine.

I was not expecting replies at this hour. Thankyou so very much. First train is 6.45 and I will be 3 hours away from him.

He truly is my best friend. Oh god I can't comprehend what's happening right now.

Oh no, I hope he will be ok. Who called you? Does he have family with him?
Can you gather a few things now? Phone charger, extra jumper. Print or write down your journey so you don't have to think about it. Tissues and a book (to stare at to discourage anyone trying to talk to you!) for the train. Easy to eat snacks. Drink.

His mam is in contact with me. I need another brandy! Ironically me mad him did A I at the weekend. We both want a baby before its too late. I just need to be with him now. Going to try and sleep for an hour.

I had this call in May about my sister 12000 miles away. Talk about a punch in the gut. Helpless, distraught, unable to eat or think. Awful, awful stuff.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Try and keep hope alive. My sister was in a coma, not expected to live, she is now leaving rehab for a weekend at home after months of rehab work. She has a brain injury but we can still chat away (she forgets bits and pieces) but I honestly never thought I'd talk to her again.

Oh how terrifying for you. Hang in there Flowers. Do you have anyone who can support you and be a shoulder to cry on? Definitely let them know if there is someone.
