To get the phone call nobody wants

Had a call at 3.30am. My best friend in the whole entire world has been involved in a serious car crash. I've no way of getting to him.

I'm completely numb. I've had a brandy. I don't know what the fuck to do. He has very serious head injuries.

I won't be able to travel by train until tomorrow. I'm devastated. Don't know why I'm even posting. Maybe just for a hand hold.

I'm glad that you got there in time to hold his hand, but oh my goodness how utterly heartbreaking for you. I'm so, so sorry.

Does anyone else know that you did the AI? Be kind and patient to yourself right now and take all the time you need to process what has happened and grieve. Do you work?

Nobody knows about the AI. I'll wait until I'm overdue to bring it up.

It’s lovely that he was actually holding your hand and knew you were there. In time, that will help. The devastation, disbelief and shock you feel now will last a while, but in time, though the grief is as deep, the immediate rawness does eventually mostly go.

Whatever the result is of your a1, it’s likely going to hit you hard and you’ll probably spend some time wishing the result was the other way, it’s only natural. Try to accept that it’s going to be a roller coaster and let yourself feel, whatever you feel, at that point in time. Be kind to yourself and remember you don’t have to tell anyone, either way, unless you want to.

His mam was there too. She just kept hugging me when he went.

I feel pregnant but we will know soon enough. Hard to imagine our baby being born and him not her Sad
