What is your favourite food programme and what is your worst?

Firstly I will watch any food programme, even the ones I shout at.

I love Nigel Slater, although prefer his writing. Love Nigella, although rarely follow her recipes. I just love the way she undulates, her earlier programmes are the best, before she was so airbrushed.

The hairy bikers are lovely and great recipes.

Jamie Oliver annoys me, he has become so arrogant since naked chef.

Delia is amazing, but Mary Berry wins for me, her recipes just work better.

HFW runs hot and cold with me.

Ottolenghi is quietly unassuming.

Gordon Ramsey is a twat slightly annoying, but great recipes.

Love Bake Off, and Ready Steady Cook back in the day.

Don't watch any others. Find Masterchef particularly cringey.

Love Jamie Oliver, Nigella and love Delia Smith's TV shows...so familiar and comforting.

Never really enjoyed watching the Hairy bikers though.

Interestingly I love Nigel Slaters books...they are fantastic but I don't especially enjoy watching him on tv

vampirethriller · 25/09/2018 17:43

I love the Hairy Bikers and I'll watch Diners, Drive ins and Dives. Delia is always good.
I can't stand Bake Off, Masterchef or Jamie Oliver.
Back in Time for Tea is good too.

VeryBerrySeptember · 25/09/2018 17:43

I have to turn HFW off.

Last time I turned River Cottage off, again, I decided I miss Keith Floyd. He was watchable.

Of recent programmes I liked Rick Stein in Istanbul / round the Med? Also like to catch Ina Garten just to gawp in wonder really!

LesLavandes · 25/09/2018 17:44

I like Janes Martin

BIWI · 25/09/2018 17:46

Can't stand Nigella and the way she poses and postures for the camera - although I love her writing and have several of her books.

I also can't stand Mary Berry, although I realise I'll get stoned to death with stale scones for saying that, seeing as what she's a national treasure Grin

I think Jamie is great. Rick Stein and James Martin are OK, although I think they both can verge on the pretentious, 'aren't I fabulous' side of things sometimes.

I love Masterchef, whether it's amateur or professional.

But my favourite food programme is actually a radio show - The Kitchen Cabinet, which is hosted by Jay Rayner. Who I think is absolutely fabulous.

HolyFuckNuggets · 25/09/2018 17:49

I used to love Chopped but haven't watched it in ages.

VeryBerrySeptember · 25/09/2018 17:50

I like Jay Rayner.

And but not quite the same but we enjoy the production line programme when we catch it. Don't even know what it's called but there's usually something ingenious going on I hadn't thought of before!

Elephantinacravat · 25/09/2018 17:52

I love the food on Jamie Oliver's shows but he is such a huge bellend it spoils it.

Love Nigella, especially at Christmas.

justpoppingby · 25/09/2018 17:52

Anything with James Martin in.
Anything without James Martin in.
Lol joking aside i also love a bit of nigella and some barefoot countess 😀
Most cooking progs make me nauseous though 😬

Omega16 · 25/09/2018 17:54

Ooh, food on the radio and I like Jay Raynor.

Used to love bake off until it sold its soul to the dark side.

Barefoot countess - dc and I always remember fondly the episode when she prepared sliced cucumber....and that was it.

Love Nadiya's programme on BBC2.

Anything with Nigella makes me want to claw my own eyeballs out.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/09/2018 18:04

Love nadiya on bbc at the moment

Love the Jamie Christmas with bells on, but only in December. Ditto Nigella’s kinky spoon licking Christmas spectacular or whatever it’s called

I also like Eat well for less, think it’s well made and interesting to watch and the dc watch it too.

Bake off, obvs. The extra slice programme is dire though.

Sunday brunch.

Despise James Martin and Gordon Ramsey.

Jeffjefftyjeff · 25/09/2018 18:05

Madhur jaffrey programmes (even the really old ones. Currently on iPlayer if you’re interested).

BIWI · 25/09/2018 18:08

Can't stand the Barefoot Contessa. Or that Pioneer Woman. It's like feminism never happened!

QueenOfMyWorld · 25/09/2018 18:10

Diners drive ins and dives.mouthwatering!

TheQueef · 25/09/2018 18:15

I have a very intense imaginary relationship with James Martin. ,💞

He's off in America to choose our holiday home at the mo.

Blush

Even my family are Confused but after I heard rumours over SB I had to imaginary divorce him.

formerbabe · 25/09/2018 18:15

I love the Pioneer woman Blush

Omega16 · 25/09/2018 18:31

@TheQueef he's actually with me, I am the OW, soz Grin Used to love Saturday kitchen before JM left - his speech when he left 😢

Madhur Jaffrey (despite iPad best efforts to autocorrect to Mad Hat Jeffrey) is ace, as is Anjum Anand.

Listen, my boyfriend (imaginary) TV celebrity chef James Martin is far too busy between 'ouse huntin for us and cooking for me in his outdoor pizza oven to mess about with OW.

vandrew4 · 25/09/2018 18:38

the great british menu is the most tedious repetitive bag of shite evr. and they play dramatic music on it constantly to try to ramp up the excitement.
Each chef seems to cook the same dish every day for a week and they show you right at the start what the end result looks like. God it's shit

AnnaMagnani · 25/09/2018 18:39

Love Hairy Bikers - they have such an interest in wherever they go and who they meet. Plus their recipes really work.

Much love for Delia - yes the programs were dull but you were never going to go wrong ever and her food is very tasty. I started out with Delia when I began cooking properly when DH moved in and never had a duff meal.

Cannot stand Mary Berry. Old enough to remember her the first time round (or was that her second time round) and she was a second rate Delia then and she still is. Her cakes may be OK but her main meals are boring AF.

Always holding out for a glimpse of Claudia Roden on TV or radio, she is my kitchen goddess.
