Firstly I will watch any food programme, even the ones I shout at.

I love Nigel Slater, although prefer his writing. Love Nigella, although rarely follow her recipes. I just love the way she undulates, her earlier programmes are the best, before she was so airbrushed.

The hairy bikers are lovely and great recipes.

Jamie Oliver annoys me, he has become so arrogant since naked chef.

Delia is amazing, but Mary Berry wins for me, her recipes just work better.

HFW runs hot and cold with me.

Ottolenghi is quietly unassuming.

Gordon Ramsey is a twat slightly annoying, but great recipes.

I watch all sorts of cookery programmes as they're one of my go-tos when there is nothing on the telly.

Absolutely love Australian Masterchef; it's so much better than ours. Also a big fan of Bake Off, Mary Berry and I used to love Keith Floyd's programmes as he was barking.

Rick Stein is a tit, sorry.

BearSoFair · 26/09/2018 15:34

YES to Nigel Slater, there's something about him that's just very calming. He seems so likeable as well. Can't stand Nigella though!

Omega16 · 26/09/2018 16:13

The one where Lorraine Pascal 'teaches' people to cook is cringe, she needs a few lesson herself.

Nigel Slater makes me want to go to sleep.

Jamie Oliver is a bell-end.

You can keep James Martin, although I did like his American series, especially that massive steak cooked with whatshisface.. Puck?

Can't stand Nigella.

Enjoyed Rick Stein road to Mexico and of course Keith Floyd. The Hairy Bikers make me chuckle occasionally.

Who's the old Italian chef that crops up on Saturday Kitchen? Love him! (Clearly not enough to remember his name though)

Where can I find this diners and dives programme? Sounds like something I need in my life Grin

QuantumGroan · 26/09/2018 16:26

I like Nigellas food but also live watching to giggle at her very affected turn of phrase - it cheers me up no end. And I like bake off and Masterchef for the human drama. Nigel is too pretentious while trying to appear to be an everyman and his silly crap about eating on a budget. Mary Berry is funny to watch as well - her recipes are dull. Ottelenghi is lovely and his food is the business....I think he wins!

Longdistance · 26/09/2018 16:33

Saturday kitchen with James Martin.

I do like Sunday brunch for hangover tv. My friends once appeared in the cheers bit. Love how they bring in people from different restaurants to cook, and get their guests to help in the kitchen.

CherryBlossom23 · 26/09/2018 16:37

Ina Garten is my guilty pleasure. She's so OTT with her organic lemons and hand pressed truffle oil if you don't have time for that, store bought is fine but I really want to be her friend and have lunch in her fab Hamptons house Blush

GeneandFred · 26/09/2018 16:38

Can't stand Jamie Oliver or Nigella.

Love GBBO, Masterchef, Saturday kitchen.

VeryBerrySeptember · 26/09/2018 16:42

There is Jamie's pal, the older Italian chef on Saturday Kitchen whose name escapes me.

But my favourite Italian is Locatelli. I'd forgotten his programme footering about Italy with the Art critic. I love that, it's art and food!

waltzingparrot · 26/09/2018 16:49

I liked Rachel Khoo's Kitchen Notebook series.

I always watch Jamie and Nigella. It's easy cookable family food that's tasty.

I also love Tessa Kiros cookbooks. Has anybody ever seen her on a tv cookery series?

TheBeatGoesOnandOn · 26/09/2018 17:02

Love Hairy Bikers.

Jamie Oliver can be a hit or miss.

I used to love the Bake Off but like all reality TV series the more there are the less exciting they become.

Gordon Ramsay is funny sometimes but not enjoyable for the food element.

There's an elderly lady who used to be on the Beeb in the late 90s who I loved - she made amazing soups and stews.

I also love Mary Berry.

bluechameleon · 26/09/2018 17:15

I love Bake Off, like Masterchef and plough my way through Great British Menu without taking much pleasure from it. I don't really watch any single chef programmes. I enjoy programmes like Back in Time for Dinner, Eat Well For Less, Food Unwrapped. I'm also a Kitchen Cabinet fan. Before we had children we always used to watch Saturday Kitchen and whatever the previous incarnation of Sunday Brunch was but if I do catch them now I don't really enjoy them.

ALongHardWinter · 26/09/2018 17:39

I'm not a big fan of food programmes on the whole, but I quite like Nigel Slater as he seems genuine and 'real' IYKWIM. I also think he has a lovely voice! Smile. I like The Hairy Bikers too,and James Martin. Ones I don't like are Gordon Ramsey. I find him rude and obnoxious. And the one that I REALLY hate? MasterChef or Celebrity MasterChef. Full of twatty, pretentious recipes that 99% of the great British public couldn't be arse with making. Carrot fluff or fish foam anyone? Grin

DuggeesWoggle · 26/09/2018 18:44

I bet Ina would be hilarious to get drunk with - I reckon she has loads of White House dirt (she used to be a nuclear policy advisor) and probably goes full Noo Yoik when she's been on the artisanal gin. Her programs are very dull and twee but she does have an evil cackle and a twinkle in her eye.

She might be dull as shit though

CherryBlossom23 · 26/09/2018 19:16

Ina is twee but I find it so soothing to watch. I bet she's secretly hilarious. My favourite piece about her: thoughtcatalog.com/anonymous/2013/02/the-case-for-ina-gartens-world-domination-how-easy-is-that/

DishranawaywiththeSpoon · 26/09/2018 19:30

I love basically all food shows! The only ones I don't like are Lorraine Pascal - too patronising and I'm not a great fan of rick Stein. Also not a massive fan of Mary Berry.

My favourite used to be Hestons in search of perfection but I think he sold out

I love Nigel slater - he's like a naughty boy and a birthday party talking about bread or something!

Nigella at Christmas I love because it's so OTT but she can grate, again Jamie's recipes I find are easy and work well but he can be a bit of a prat.

I love the hairy bikers! They are great, and I also love river cottage although potentially I am the only one. It's just such an idealistic lifestyle it's ridiculous but also great.

Gordon Ramsey is again probably a bit of a prat but I love listening to him talk and I love to watch him, I think I might have a crush on him Blush

Ina Garten is great, it's like put 1kg of butter 1 litre of double cream, 1kg of cheese and you've got yourself a salad! But I love it

ZootSuit · 26/09/2018 20:02

The kitchen cabinet podcast sounds fascinating, I love Jay Rayner too. I can’t work out how to download it though! It appears on the BBC4 website, but not on iPhone podcasts or the iPlayer radio app??

QuantumGroan · 26/09/2018 20:38

Back in Time for Dinner, Eat Well For Less, Food Unwrapped. I'm also a Kitchen Cabinet.
Love these too and I love Jay Rayner's reviews in the Guardian, he's a great writer. I rarely share his taste in restaurants though - not many I've been too that have been up to scratch, 3/3 fails!
I also love Table Manners podcast and Radio 4 Food Programme especially with Dan Saladino

Omega16 · 26/09/2018 23:09

There's an elderly lady who used to be on the Beeb in the late 90s who I loved - she made amazing soups and stews.

That was probably Mary Berry, they did an excellent make over on her!

VeryBerrySeptember · 26/09/2018 23:17

I can't work out who that was.

I could only think of Two Fat Ladies!

BonnieF · 26/09/2018 23:21

I’m going to stick up for Jamie. Yes, he’s an annoying mockney twit, yes he’s a multi-millionaire businessman posing as a sanctimonious do-gooder and yes he whores himself to whatever supermarket or tv channel waves the biggest cheque at him, but the bloke can cook.

His recipes are straightforward, imaginative, creative and full of flavour. 30 minute meals was a work of genius.

VeryBerrySeptember · 26/09/2018 23:27

I agree on 30 minute meals. (Though they took me nearer an hour! My lack of skills entire!y.)

Jamie DOES sprinkle on the salt from an ostentatious height though! Thank you previous poster for helping me see that.

QuantumGroan · 27/09/2018 06:56

I agree Jamie can cook and I mostly trust his recipes to deliver - he's a bit annoying but I mellowed to his irritation when he campaigned for better food in schools. I love him for that!

Proseccoagain · 27/09/2018 09:09

Love the blessed Delia and Mary Berry. Hate the Great British Menu. I don't have to watch it any more these days. Keith Floyd was just the best though!

Loonoon · 27/09/2018 10:39

I used to love Nigella until she became a parody of herself. Now I love Nadiya. She is so warm and enthusiastic.

I saw Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood doing a cooking demo at some exhibition a few years ago. Surprisingly he seemed very easy going and unassuming but she was very controlling and was openly rude to one of the kitchen assistants who didn’t have everything exactly as she wanted at the precise moment she wanted it. It put me right off her I absolutely judge people who are not nice to waiters or junior staff - and if she was that rude on stage in front of a large audience it makes you wonder how much worse she was behind the scenes.
