What do posh people say for aww and hun?

My first thoughts were gosh and darling.

My v posh friend says darl or swears a lot. You know she likes you if she calls you a cunt.

I am not posh but I would rather pull my tongue out than say Hun ! Posh people say Darling or sweetie don't they ? Although the poshest lady i knew used to say Dear

I am so common. I’d feel really self conscious about calling an adult darling.

I have never said hun either. Where does that come from? I didn’t hear it until about 2008.

My mil says darling all the time. Drives me mad. She likes to pretend she's posh. I'm as common and down to earth as they come and I'm proud of it. That's why we don't get on at all.

I wouldn't really know what someone meant if they said aww, but from this thread it apparently means "Gosh" or "Wow"

I would never use hun. "Darling" is a very usual term of endearment isn't it? I wouldn't think of it as posh really.

I'm not posh but just wouldn't say anything. I might say gosh and use 'blimey' a bit more than I'd like sarf london but I can't even force myself to say hun. I use names or pet names for DH and dc.

Surely "Aw, hun" translates as "Chin up, old thing..."

(Mind you I am probably wrong as I am neither posh nor a "hunner").

How does "Aww" translate to "Gosh"/"Golly"/"My goodness"?

Surely the sentiments are totally different. Makes no sense.

2. Exclamation of surprise or annoyance
