Things you have tried due to MN and failed miserably at?

Am I the only one who has tried some stuff out due to MN threads and it turned out well not good?

Today getting ready I was thinking about a MN thread I read some time ago about drying in the shower or outside the shower. Usually I dry outside however the towel we usually have on the floor has been " replaced" (I am looking at you ds) with a normal towel and it was pretty wet.. So I figured I would try what MN post had suggested and dry inside the shower.

Currently nursing a bruise on left arm where I hit it into the folding door (it folds inwards so actually not a lot of room for drying I found) Ok I think stupid of you not to close the door. So I close the door and manage to scrape my left wrist on the door frame..

I will be drying myself outside the shower in the future.. More room

I love the Christmas zoflora, cinnamon scent but it's only one.

Also wish my oven door came out ....

babyno5 · 29/09/2018 19:14

I know where you are all going wrong-apparently the best thing to do for every problem is dial 101 and log it with police and get a reference number

pteradactyl · 29/09/2018 19:35

Never really tried any of these but I love zoflora!
And drying inside the shower?! Like PP says, surely you have to get out of the shower to get the towel and then you may as well stay out

supersop60 · 29/09/2018 20:50

I love my lakeland airer. It's not magic, but it's better than the radiators and the ensuing condensation.
I have always dried inside the shower. Easy.

Deminism · 29/09/2018 20:52

I use scissors for pizza. Didn’t know that was a mn thing. Talcum powder to remove wet sand changed my life.

sulflower · 29/09/2018 20:58

Ok, with the shower thing... how do you dry yourself in the shower? Where is your towel?

I've always dried myself in the shower but I guess it all depends on your setup. Our shower is really big, a walk with in no door just a big glass wall and towel rail right outside.

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 29/09/2018 21:02

What’s the MN haircut?

WoollyMollyMonkey · 29/09/2018 21:42

My mum used bicarbonate of soda on the oven (this was years ago) It was made into a paste and smeared on the oven walls. I think it was just left on to stop getting baked-on-dirt, so your oven looked white, then every so often you clean it off (supposed to be easy) and apply a new paste. Seems a bit of a faff to me, and if you have a glass door your oven looks naff (mum didn’t).

Dishwasher tablet on oven door - did nothing.

Immac to clear a slow draining sink -
Blocked it completely

NARS concealer - £23 and not as good as the ones from Boots for a fiver.

Zoflora - just smells like disinfectant. So what?

Conditioner before shampoo - mad hair

Putting the bedlinen set inside one pillowcase - that pillowcase ended up feeling like it hadn't been washe'd for some reason (so I gave it to DH)

QuestionableMouse · 29/09/2018 21:56

The spring hair removal torture device. I tried it on my chin hairs and by God I thought I'd ripped my skin off... Most painful thing ever. I had to pull it apart to take it off my face. It was easily the most horrible two minutes of my life.

userofthiswebsite · 29/09/2018 22:16

For those of you who don't like the heated airer may I recommend using a regular airer alongside a dehumidifier? Live in a flat and that's how I've been drying my washing for 4 years now.
Recommend the EcoAir Simple - cost about £135 give or take.

ANiceLentilHotpot · 29/09/2018 22:22

@QuestionableMouse The spring hair removal torture device

Agree. Does remove hairs but so would pressing your face against an electrical sander and that would probably hurt less.

Curious about the Lakeland airer. How does it prevent humidity? Surely the water still has to go somewhere?

WoollyMollyMonkey · 29/09/2018 22:24

OMG forgot about the torturous springy hair remover! I bought a pack of 3 of the buggers as well!

kateandme · 29/09/2018 22:34

always pat dry in the shower.towel hang over the wall or door of the shower.its not that hard lol.
couldn't imagine getting out the shower steamy warmth without a towel already around me.eeek.

GunpowderGelatine · 29/09/2018 22:34

Zoflora. Didn't do it for me at all.

PasteSandwiches · 29/09/2018 22:36

I love the the springy hair remover. I save it for Saturday nights when I'm drunk and go to town 😂. A
smooth, hair free chin is mine for a full week.

Gushpanka · 29/09/2018 22:40

Putting matching sheets and duvet covers inside a pillow case.

I just got a lumpy mess which didnt stack and so fell everywhere in the cupboard. So instead of nearly folded stacks of sheets, pillow cases and duvet covers, i had a chaotic mess.

WoollyMollyMonkey · 29/09/2018 22:57

Pastesandwiches have you tried it on your upper lip? It would sober you up in no time!

QuestionableMouse · 29/09/2018 23:01

I agree! It went straight into the bin. Horrible.

Pancakes in the toastie maker was another one. Stuck and made mess everywhere. Total fail for me.

Butterymuffin · 29/09/2018 23:04

Can someone post a photo of the MN haircut?

PasteSandwiches · 29/09/2018 23:05

@WoollyMollyMonkey Only if I've got belted on gin and tonic on a 1:1 ratio- it can be done but it ain't pretty

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 29/09/2018 23:10

Microwave chocolate cake

CabinFever674 · 29/09/2018 23:24

Used some of these not realising they were mumsnet things and tempted to try some of the others now!!

Gutted nobody has trialled a penis beaker...

1forAll74 · 30/09/2018 02:07

Well,it always amazes me that anyone believes, and tries anything that's recommended on here, or anywhere else. All these things, are just to get you spending your money big time..

Advertising is a very clever, and cunning way, to get some people to buy anything, no matter what. leaving them in the money, and you not much so..

SpoonBlender · 30/09/2018 02:29

@1forall74 Half the things in the thread are free. It's sensible to be wary of sneak advertising, but... just avoid the active paranoia, eh?
