What song makes you cry

Mine is Sorry seems to be the hardest word. Years ago OH had a terrible row and went nearly 2 days without talking. He played that song to me , I cried, he cried , we cuddled , we talked and all was right with the world again. Whenever I hear it it takes me back and makes me well up.

Think Twice by Celine Dion. My DH loved it for some reason and bought the tape to go in the car, so I'd been listening to it for weeks as the radio in the car was broken...... our 2nd baby was stillborn and the day I found out he'd died, I remember sitting listening to it in the car before going into our GPs. It still makes me cry hearing it 20+ years on......

Don't say what you're about to say
Look back before you leave my life
Be sure before you close that door
Before you roll those dice
Baby think twice

The version of Rodrigo's Concierto D'Aranjuez from Brassed Off. Not just for the gorgeous music but for the story behind it.

Sunshine on Leith. We had it at DH's funeral because he was a Proclaimers fan, life long Hibs supporter and originally came from Leith. It was perfect and is such an lovely, sweet song. A lot of their songs are and although I think they are about their faith, they work on several levels. Lots of songs give me the shivers. A really good just taps staight into a powerful memory and takes you straight back there.

She by Elvis Costello, chosen by my Dad for my Mum’s funeral.

It’s on my phone and I have to skip it every time because I can’t listen to it.

Slipping though my fingers , Abba. My beautiful eldest daughter got married to her equally beautiful wife a fortnight ago and I had to make her promise not to play that at ANY point. First chord and I'm a mess!

The Green Fields of France (The Fureys version). I can't listen to even a line of that song before I start bawling.

TwistedStitch · 23/09/2018 22:50

Also- These Are the Days of Our Lives by Queen, because Freddie was dying when he sang it, and I think of how ill he looked in the video and it makes me sad.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/09/2018 23:23

May It Be by Enya. Had it at my Dad’s funeral a few months ago.

badgeronabicycle · 24/09/2018 12:58

Also The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens from Carnival of Animals. So poignant and beautiful. Welling up just thinking about it. 😢
