Mine is Sorry seems to be the hardest word. Years ago OH had a terrible row and went nearly 2 days without talking. He played that song to me , I cried, he cried , we cuddled , we talked and all was right with the world again. Whenever I hear it it takes me back and makes me well up.

Kraggle · 23/09/2018 10:43

I think A thousand Years is by Christina Perry. Lovely song.

dollydelightful · 23/09/2018 10:44

Somewhere out there - but sung by the 2 little cartoon mice in American Tail, not the Linda Ronstadt version... poor little mouse, far away from home, all on his own....

Crunchymum · 23/09/2018 10:44

I am Woman, Helen Reddy.

I change the words to "I am mother" and sing it to my baby.

The words that always get me are

"Yes I am wise, but it's wisdom born in pain
Yes I've paid the the price but look at what I've gained
If I have to, I can do anything"

My beautiful baby was born with a rare genetic condition and we face many challenges. Those particular words jist make me blub.

One Moment More by Mindy Smith. Written when her mother was dying.

flumpybear · 23/09/2018 10:46

There was an old Bronski Beat song with the lyrics

I never cried the way I cried over you
I put down the telephone, and the world it carried on
Somewhere else, someone else is dying too
Another man has lost a friend
I bet he feels the way i do

It reminds me of my friend dying in his mid 20's ... so sad 😭

One last time by Ariana Grande. Takes me back to May last year when it was the MEN bombing. I was 36 weeks pregnant and cried everyday for a week at the thought of this world I was bringing my baby into.

LittleBookofCalm · 23/09/2018 10:49

They are currently playing Closest Thing to Crazy which does make me fairly emotional as its dd's favourite song. DD is ok but struggles, or at least, shares her troubles with me

Tapirbackrider · 23/09/2018 10:49

Forever Autumn by Justin Heywood - it's from The War of The Worlds.

Ode to Billie Joe by - well all versions, but I love Sinead O’connors, where you can hear a baby cry

@snailmailfan

Thanks for mentioning that version, I never heard her it before. It doesn't have the same emotional resonance for me as the Gentry version but it's a really good tune anyway.

cropcirclesinthefields · 23/09/2018 10:59

For a long time it was Broken strings by James Morrison, it summed up how I was feeling in the last months with my ex.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/09/2018 11:00
