What song makes you cry

Mine is Sorry seems to be the hardest word. Years ago OH had a terrible row and went nearly 2 days without talking. He played that song to me , I cried, he cried , we cuddled , we talked and all was right with the world again. Whenever I hear it it takes me back and makes me well up.

Many rivers to cross- Jimmy Cliff

HerRoyalFattyness · 23/09/2018 14:51

One more light by Linkin park.

It never used to make me cry, but I've just listened to it now and broke down

"There are things that we can have, but can't keep"

(I've just had to terminate a twin preganncy for health reasons, so this may have something to do with it)

Cannot listen to that song without crying now, I so wish he'd seen his GD do her RNLI job he'd been so proud as he was on the boats

bellsbuss · 23/09/2018 15:15

Thanks awwlookatmybabyspider, I've been lurking on here about 7 months now. Avid reader of posts but first time doing my own post. Another song for me is Chicago If you leave me now. Good mix of songs from everyone

I'm so sorry Portia 😔

CodLiverOil556 · 23/09/2018 15:56

In my line of work I do (too many IMO) baby funerals. The vicar I had to liaise with gave me a CD with a song on and now I can't listen to it without a lump in my throat. It's Still by Gerrit Hofsink.

here

Loads of these. Also 'Live Forever', Oasis. Was a favourite of mine and my gay best friend at uni, when we were young and vibrant and cocky confident and felt like we were going to take on the world. Makes me sob for a time and a me that's long gone, plus he dropped contact with me a little while after uni and we've never got back in touch and I don't know why. Never had a friend like that before and don't think I will again.

Also 'Find the River', REM. The sheer beauty and melancholy of the melody and lyrics. And 'Nightswimming', from the same album; that sense again of a time you can never go back to.

And 'Frederick' by Patti Smith. The sound, plain and simple, of someone soaring in love.

How to Save a Life - The Frays

It was out when I was going through a horrible time in my life and it always made me cry. I heard it for the first time in ages a few weeks ago and I couldn't help but end up in tears.

Black Hole Sun - Chris Cornell (from his Songbook album. It just makes me realise how much I miss him & his wonderful voice

Every so often when I've got my MP3 on shuffle Soundgarden or Temple of the Dog will come on and I always get a tear in my eye. Such a sad loss.

Adele's "Hello From the Other Side." I always think of my brother when I hear it - we used to be each other's best friends when we were children, but our lives have taken us in very different directions and we have changed so much, there's a huge gulf and lack of communication between us I don't think we will ever be able to bridge.

"Hello, how are you?
It's so typical of me to talk about myself I'm sorry
I hope that you're well
Did you ever make it out of that town where nothing ever happened
It's no secret that the both of us
Are running out of time."

EastMidsGPs · 23/09/2018 17:28

For A Friend Communards
and in a way as they are linked through the film Pride
Bread and Roses - but any version of this has me emotional

For the sheer beauty of the lyrics At My Most Beautiful by REM

And agree Sunshine on Leith, especially the Hibs fans' cup final rendition
