So just woundering, what's your best mumsnet memory Smile

OP posts:
UpstartCrow · 23/09/2018 01:01

The pushchair thread was funnier because of the OP's name.

Its not very old but Hugo was pretty funny.

@spaceraiderssock, I remember that, poor woman.

Juicyfrooty · 23/09/2018 01:15

My two all time favourites were mentioned in the first 2 posts, 'your minge,' and fat balls.

Always remember little Bea as well, I think the posters name was cupoftea.

PawneeParksDept · 23/09/2018 01:20

I've not been on the site long (about 3 years) so the ones that I remember are the ones that particularly took off usually for being batshit.

The Hairdresser One

OP was a hairdresser. Her friend was on the PTA at a school. Hairdresser had no connection to the school. Friend offered up a free cut and blow at OPs salon as a PTA raffle prize without asking OP and with absolutely no intention of reimbursing her costs

She ranted and raved at the injustice when OP refused

MIL and the hat

OP had bought her child an expensive sounding hat and coat matching set. Hat went missing, and OP frantically asked MIL to keep an eye, and frequently lamented the loss MIL denied even seeing it. A long while later, OP walked straight into MIL and other DGD who was wearing said hat. Reason given : MIL felt OPs DD had too many nice things

Teddy Bear Custody

A woman was expecting a child with a man with a ridiculous over attachment to a teddy bear which had a name and several outfits. It had been bought for him by an old girlfriend. A separate ex girlfriend continued to regularly contact him for access time with this bear as though a pet or child, including holiday and Christmas visits

SIL and the Dog

OP had a 1 yo, SIL had a dog she insisted the dog be treated as an equal to the child and refused to attend his birthday because she couldn't bring the dog.

Situation With My Colleague

And a nice, none batshit one. Woman was in love with Rumpled, her colleague. She stopped the thread as it was getting intrusive but I believe they did get together in the end.

SealSong · 23/09/2018 01:26

When Fluffydressingown's husband posted to say that she had finally left this life. Heartbreaking.

SealSong · 23/09/2018 01:28

And on a lighter note, the supersoaker thread, she would not be told! Mad but hilarious.

MagentaRocks · 23/09/2018 01:31

I rarely laugh out loud at threads but have at the links and Hugo threads. Thanks for posting them.

My faves are the pushchair, Mexican house thief and there was a thread, I can’t even remember properly what it was about. I think something about over reactions or similar and a poster dropped a potato at a self service till and loudly said ‘fuck off you spud cunt’. Still tickles me now - it was one of the rare times I have properly laughed at a thread.

WowserBowser · 23/09/2018 01:41

WILLY WILLY WILLY

BikeRunSki · 23/09/2018 01:44

There was one I loved where MNers empowered a lady to ask out her dd’s Swimming teacher.

The one that really stayed with me though was about 5 or 6 years ago.A fairly young woman- in her early/mid 20s, was living with her much older partner, in his 40s I seem to remember. He wasn’t working, and she had a least one job, if not more, but she worked crazy long hours anyway. She got home one morning after a night shift and her cocklodger of a BF has eaten all her peanut butter. I think they had seperate food. Anyway, this was enough to tip her over the edge, and she came to realise that she’d be so much better off without him. I don’t think she ever cane back to say what happened in the end. She was so bright and young, I hope she did leave and realised how oppressed she’d been.

delphguelph · 23/09/2018 01:46

Snapped and farted actually had me snorting

There was one a while back about clothing expectations vs reality that was hilarious. It might be in classics I think now

delphguelph · 23/09/2018 01:50

Oh god I love the crap tips thread, use frozen toothpaste as after dinner mint's etc

Herja · 23/09/2018 02:17

CTK, especially her threads about being locked out of the house in the tent, on the balcony and her stolen rabbits.

Also the fatballs. I loved that thread!

Brian from hull, which looking back wasn't so funny, but made me piss myself at the time.

The kindness and support I was shown when I posted in a ridiculous panic because my 11 hour old firstborn only wanted to sleep in bed with me.

LunaMay · 23/09/2018 02:50

I love a good woo thread on here although they freak me out reading them before bed.

I remember being engrossed in a thread where a poster had found a skull in her garden, i dont remember if it was the same thread where there was creepy door as well?

Being so frustrated at the Polish daughter thread

LostPlatypus · 23/09/2018 03:27

FuckYouFest, after a poster had massive issues with a CF keeping a horse in her field, was a pretty epic set of threads that has stayed with me. The support and fun mixed together was just brilliant.

MrsMelonBall · 23/09/2018 03:27
  1. Snapped and tarted
  2. Lady in choir who pissed her pants and hung out with African drummers
ajandjjmum · 23/09/2018 03:43

Misdee's Peter having his heart transplant.

Biscuitsandbandages - sometimes wonder how her DH and DC are doing.

So many threads over the years have given support and entertainment....and made me think of situations in a different light.

QueenieMum · 23/09/2018 03:45

Snapped and tarted GrinGrin

cinderfrickingrella · 23/09/2018 03:49

No capes.. never wrote on a single one of her threads but followed them avidly. And obviously penis beaker!

QueenofLouisiana · 23/09/2018 03:50

Any threads about Wilf and his achievements, so many things to be proud of for him.

Enko · 23/09/2018 03:53

My favourite was a few years back about 2 weeks before Christmas when a poster asked how she was to tell her dd (i think 4 or 5) that it would not be Christmas this year. They had emigrated to Canada and things were tough she saw no way to do Christmas.

The entire thread got together to encourage them to sort out some inexpensive things and I recall her making a christmas tree out of scrunched up paper. Her landlady arriving with a small tree (having seen the paper one) and a MN poster also in Canada offering a dolls house (though I don't think OP took her up on it)

The thread was just so wonderful I often wonder what happened to them and if they are still in Canada.

SLoisachtal · 23/09/2018 05:50

The one night stand in the army barracks thread. The OP had had to produce her driving licence as ID when they signed in at the guardhouse, but she'd left it in the guy's room and needed it urgently for ID at a meeting in her bank (or somesuch). She didn't know his name - well, she probably knew his first name, but not his surname - and was totally embarrassed about how she was going to retrieve it.

PhilomenaButterfly · 23/09/2018 06:08

"I'm Angela Hernandez."
"No you're not."

Annandale · 23/09/2018 06:23

The old swap threads. I still wear a necklace sent to me on a swap, and use an incredible pair of salad servers from another. They were so much fun in a rather bleak period of my life.

Long ago was a lovely thread about the songs people made up to sing to their children. Made me giggle for most of an evening but it was heartwarming too.

People posting on my thread when dh went missing for five days when ds was 2. I had some really helpful suggestions but it was the solidarit i remember.

PhilomenaButterfly · 23/09/2018 06:31

And the sex hedge.
