Hi,

Talking to DP tonight over tea (from our Gousto box) about convenience and how you can have almost anything delivered to you these days.

I just love getting things through the post, especially when it's a bit quirky or luxury. Can anyone recommend any subscriptions I can try. And similarly, memberships. We had merlin passes and loved them last year but we are having a break from that, so any recommendations for similar family things would be welcome!

We've tried Gousto, Hellofresh, Graze, Bloom and Wild (love!), Snaffling Pig and Simply Cook.

You sound like a journalist
I haven’t heard of a single thing you’ve mentioned apart from a Merlin pass

Sparklyfee · 19/09/2018 00:12

My friend genuinely loved her cheese postie subscription, really made me laugh.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/09/2018 01:18

My local wildlife trust send the kids a magazine every month. DS1(11) loves getting post addressed to him and his brother. DS2(1yo) loves playing with it. It makes them both really happy.Smile

The subscription is only a couple of quid a month and I get priority notice and booking for walks and talks. David Bellamy and Chris Packham have been guests.Grin

It is definitely value for money.Smile

JingsMahBucket · 19/09/2018 01:53

@CurlyWurlyTwirly get with the times. Just because you haven't heard of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

@Sparklyfee I really wanted to get my nieces and nephews this travel subscription box for kids at one point but at the time I discovered it, I thought they may not have been the right age range: www.littlepassports.com.

Here are some lists of good stuff for kids but they're more American centric:

For Christmas last year, I bought OH a 3-month subscription to The Spicery www.thespicery.com which mails you a different set of curry or spice mix each month along with a recipe to cook. It was totally up his alley. That may be fun for your whole family too in that you learn how to cook something new together.

Moreisnnogedag · 19/09/2018 02:16

I have geo-fleur which I love. Would definitely recommend that - a little houseplant/succulent/air plant plus pot.

CakeNinja · 19/09/2018 06:19

I just have beauty subscription boxes! Cohorted, Glossybox, Mintd and Look Fantastic Grin
Dds did have national geographic but they got bored.
I do love bloom and wild flowers but we have a really nice florist at the end of our road so I tend to go there if I want fresh flowers. They are a lovely present though.

MyYoniFromHull · 19/09/2018 06:23

I've not had the monthly order but I've used Bloom and Wild a few times and been very pleased with them.

I frequently look at the Hotel Chocolat subscriptions but I've resisted so far

Southwest12 · 19/09/2018 06:30

If you like gin then Craft Gin Club. I had to change my subscription from monthly to quarterly as I had too many bottles. But for £40 a delivery you get a full sized bottle of gin, tonics, snacks, sometimes another gift, and a magazine.

PlumpAndPlain · 19/09/2018 06:36

I have a teen and he likes the various Loot Crate subscriptions especially Loot Tees. I like it because we don't have to go shopping for clothes as often!

Theg00dwife · 19/09/2018 06:38

Toucan box is a lovely craft one for kids.

InMySpareTime · 19/09/2018 06:48

I have a Tea club subscription from Bird and Blend (3 random loose leaf teas a month)
I also subscribe to the Random Book Club from the Book Shop in Wigtown, I've got some great Random Books so far this year, from a book of Bushisms to a Scottish thriller and a book of medieval history.

bert3400 · 19/09/2018 06:50

Readly.....it's £7 a month and you get access to 1000s of magazines.

malovitt · 19/09/2018 06:59

I have weekly flower deliveries from Bloomon - individual stems, all different which look fab - alternating with Freddie's Flowers - a bit bolder and statement-like.
Visitors always comment on my flowers.
(I have codes for these two if anyone wants to try them)

And Riverford organic recipe box - it's nice to not have to think what to cook for a couple of nights per week.

Catmatrat · 19/09/2018 07:02

Scent addict. New perfume through the post every month 😍

somewhereovertherain · 19/09/2018 07:11

I’ve used a few but just get the offers then cancel. Hello fresh is good but so expensive and so much packaging waste that couldn’t bring myself to pay full price. Just get one when the send me the 50% off

Other half has had beer52 and cornerstone razors but again had the offers and cancelled.

Seriously considering getting a local coffee one with Pennington’s and oh an Oddballs pants one.

BrieAndChilli · 19/09/2018 07:16

I have readly - magazine app subscription

Kids have The Week Junior - weekly kids newspapers
Also started the letterboxlab which is a monthly science experiment ox through your door.

BumbleeBeeMe · 19/09/2018 07:19

Ooh I love gusto ! We also get toucan box.

Slight derail, does anyone know of a candle subscription box?

Goldensunnydays81 · 19/09/2018 07:29

I get the blurt foundation box every month and ds gets mud + bloom a kids gardening box every month.
@InMyspareTime the tea box sounds lovely I may have to investigate that! I love getting nice things in the post.

justmetwice · 19/09/2018 07:38

We have had a the spicery subscription for a number of years. Love receiving and cooking the meals and the company are a great company in terms of customer care (have no connection but have always been really nice when I asked anything)

PickleSarnie · 19/09/2018 07:38

Craft Gin Club. Gin and a whole bunch of goodies in the post. What's not to like?!

ItsClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 19/09/2018 07:40
