You've only got space for 2 of 3: washing machine, tumble dryer, and dishwasher. Which 2 would you have?

We've only got space for 2 appliances. Currently have a washing machine and dishwasher but keep thinking we would like a tumble dryer.

Would you rather keep the dishwasher, or swap for a tumble dryer?

I would have a washing machine and dishwasher.

I used to have a washer dryer and didn't find that good - but I bet technology has improved and you might find the more expensive ones do a better job. As another suggestion, could you try a top loading washing machine (very slim), a slimline dishwasher and a smaller tumble dryer? Or, as a pp suggested, can you find a washer and dryer that would stack?

I think I'd move! Grin I'd got for a combo (they're better than they used to be I think), or as long as I was able to dry clothes indoors without too much hassle I'd keep the dishwasher. We have a tumble dryer in the garage.

Washing Machine & Tumble Dryer for defo

hendricksy · 18/09/2018 18:32

Washer dryers are much much better than they used to be . My mum has one and it's great as a back up to line drying .

Justkeeprollingalong · 18/09/2018 19:13

Never had a problem with the washer/dryer but only use it in the winter - can't bear having washing hanging around the house.

siarie · 18/09/2018 19:16

Dishwasher and a washer/dryer. We have a washer dryer it works fine, I'd rather have one than not.

franke · 18/09/2018 19:17

Washer and dishwasher but would think about stacking washer and dryer if at all possible.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 18/09/2018 19:19

You can get little compact tumble dryers that don't take up too much space. They're ok for a couple, and can sit in the corner of a bedroom or under a table without getting in the way. My Ds has a tiny 3kg one in her tenement flat.

CramptonHodnet · 18/09/2018 19:21

Washing machine and dryer. We used to have a dishwasher but, when it broke, we didn't replace it. Kitchen was redone, and we had an extra cupboard instead. Don't really miss it anymore. But I'd really hate to have wet washing hanging about in front of radiators.

ColinsVeryJolly · 18/09/2018 19:26

Washing machine and tumble dryer.

We’ve got a dishwasher in our (rented) house we have never used in the 6 years we’ve been here!

Miketv · 18/09/2018 19:28

Zanussi washer drier here - our last lasted us over 10 years and this one's going strong.

FantailsFly · 18/09/2018 19:33

WM and dishwasher. We (family of 4) seldom use the tumble dryer. We dry laundry outside on a clothes airer thing in summer and by a radiator overnight in winter (on the airer). It means you have to do washing more often rather than one big wash day but the heating's on anyway and never had a problem with damp (could also get a dehumidifier if worried).

MorningCuppa · 18/09/2018 19:35

Washing machine and dishwasher.

happymummy12345 · 18/09/2018 19:36

Washing machine and dishwasher. I hate tumble dryers.

SweetPeaPods · 18/09/2018 19:38

Our dryer was in the garage in one house and spare room in another. Very useful in the winter for bedding and towels but if I could only have 2 it would have to be dishwasher and washing machine.

Nacreous · 18/09/2018 19:39

Do you have any outdoor space?

I have put my tumble drier in the shed. I also considered putting a condenser drier in the spare room.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 18/09/2018 19:44

I’d choose Washing machine and dishwasher. I actually have a washer dryer but honestly can’t remember the last time I dried anything in it. I really don’t like tumble drying and have only ever used it for bed linen and towels, and then only when absolutely necessary. As and when I replace my current machine it will just be a washer.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 18/09/2018 19:44

I've never had a tumble dryer. I used my mum's when I lived there, and it wrecked loads of my clothes. Plus I worry they're a fire hazard.

Wouldn't be without a dishwasher.

Easynow · 18/09/2018 19:47

Washing machine and dishwasher.

I have not stood at a sink for 3 years & washed up. I would never be without the dishwasher.

Heated airer instead of tumble drier.

2233xylophone · 18/09/2018 19:53

My washer dryer is the Candy Alise GO W 475. Not sure if they still make it but it's about 5.5 years old and going strong, 1 or 2 loads of washing a day and the occasional drying cycle.

I actually only have space for one appliance in my house - I'd love a dishwasher too. Have you seen the table top ones? I don't even have worktop space for that but if you do, they seem to have good reviews.

MadMum101 · 18/09/2018 20:13

We only had space for a dishwasher and washing machine on our last house so got one of the small white knight tumble dyers and stuck it on the counter top in the kitchen next to a window for the hose.

Worked well and luckily we still had plenty of counter space.

In another house we had the dryer in the dining room with a table cloth over it so it didn't look too out of place. Wouldn't cope without one.

TheSageofOnions · 18/09/2018 20:16

Washing machine and dishwasher. Tumble dryer would not be on the list. We have space for all three but we only have the first two.

MacNcheese87 · 18/09/2018 21:30

I have space for two, I chose dishwasher and washer/dryer combo. Seems the obvious answer.

I have a hoover washer dryer, huuuuge drum. Not sure on the exact model, but it's ace. The only down side is that you can't dry as much as you wash, so I put in towels or bedding with a wash as I hang them up anyway.

Would much rather this than wash any dishes.Grin

DamnWhyAreAllTheUsernamesTaken · 18/09/2018 21:32

Machine and dishwasher!

delphguelph · 18/09/2018 21:33

Washing machine and tumble dryer. I hate washing up but fuck me if my house will look like a Victorian wash house
