Just found this on family laptop

I'm need need of some advice. After work, I sat down to type something in the address bar on Explorer (I was typing Hotmail, to be precise) and as I started typing (literally one or two letters) my search bar suggested 'homosexual anime porn' and 'homosexual manga porn'. I went into our Internet users history and found that over a 30-60 minute period in the middle of the night (Friday or Saturday night, I can't remember) someone has searched for the above, plus manga incest, male on male gay porn and more. It would almost be funny (because of the animal element) if it wasn't so disturbing.

I have two DDs, aged 10 and 13. The younger one has her own laptop which she saved up for, so she doesn't use ours. The older one does use ours to play on and do homework, although at the times that correspond to when she was using it during the day just contain educational sites because she has been doing a history project. Both girls have been learning to draw manga. Little one hasn't heard of homosexual porn or incest, and the big one might have at school. She has never shown any interest in boys, or girls for that matter, but might be curious? If it turns out to be her, we will obviously be having a serious chat and supervising all screen use, because she will have betrayed our trust by going online during the night and googling unsuitable topics.

Then there is DH... we have been married for 20 years and he as straight as straight can be, or so I thought. I guess I am asking how I should approach this, because if it's not him then we need to have a serious chat with our daughter.

Unless there is some kind of virus or malware that generates this kind of thing? (Clutching at straws).

Crap just read over my post, when I said boy/man I mean between older teens or a man and an lightly younger man. I agree with the poster above, its all full of blushing Ukes and Semes and forbidden love that dare not speak its name with lots of hearts and flowers. Its totally not something a grown man would be into with the whole of the internet to find something more grown up.

At her age we were all reading erotic fiction passing around books. She already watches manga with you, of course she knows what yaoi anime is if her friends are into it too!

WipsGlitter · 10/09/2018 19:15

I think your husband too. I think a pp suggestion of saying 'what were you doing up in the middle of the night?'

SausageOnAFork · 10/09/2018 19:15

Male gay anime and manga is hugely popular. Most of of it fairly innocuous, just two effeminate men and most stuff is just implied. It is a genre all of its own and mainly read and watched by teenaged girls.

Incest is far more worrying.

Blameanamechange · 10/09/2018 19:16

Agree with Storm wait and see who gets up in the middle if the night. Check the history the next day and if there isn't anything on there you will know it's been deleted. You might have to sneak down after them to check they are on pc though...

wrenika · 10/09/2018 19:19

I would put money on it being one of your DDs. I was searching similar things at around 13 - pre-parental controls. Anime/manga and fanfiction naturally evolved an interest in yaoi. It's pretty standard girl stuff. Even incest isn't weird by anime standards...anime is a weird, weird world. You have to remember that anime is not just for kids and what gets filtered through to the UK is often doctored to make it more suitable for kids because we think cartoons are for kids.

If it was your DP, he'd have searched smarter...he'd have searched hentai. The search choices scream teen girl looking for yaoi of her faves.

Wafflenose · 10/09/2018 19:20

I don't think it's like her at ALL, but somebody has been looking at this stuff in the middle of the night. I will talk to DH when kids are in bed.

It's quite funny how everyone is so sure it's one or the other.

OP, you obviously need to speak to your husband about it. Only he can tell you for certain if it was him or her. Certainly none of us can!

If he is capable of lying and letting his daughter take the rap for it, then you have much bigger problems anyway. But assuming you trust him and feel like you would know if he was lying, then just talk to him. Simple.

pandarific · 10/09/2018 19:26

As someone who fell into fandom about 12ish, I'd say it's your DD.

Flatasapancakenow · 10/09/2018 19:28

I think DH too.

Gemini69 · 10/09/2018 19:29

Sorry my money's on DH too.... Blush

Squidgee · 10/09/2018 19:30

rule 34. If it exists, there is porn of it somewhere.

Just mind she doesn't start searching Hentai, that's somewhat more explicit than Yoai or however its spelled.

Squidgee · 10/09/2018 19:34

I doubt its DH.

If your DD is learning manga/anime, she's likely found videos of it on youtube and the search will go on from there.. especially if she has access to twitter.. there are some VERY dodgy 'after dark' accounts on there and a whole fuck load of porn if you follow the right people.

At 13 she will be curious.. I would tackle it sensitively and openly, but also come down on the 2.30am late night porn googling!

ChaseMe · 10/09/2018 19:34

Very odd searches for a child

Unicornandbows · 10/09/2018 19:36

My bet is also on dh

Aimarge · 10/09/2018 19:37

If it's your DH I'd be worried about the incest search!

ApolloandDaphne · 10/09/2018 19:38

As a SW who has worked in child protection i can tell you that girls much, much younger than your DD look up stuff that you could not imagine they would ever know about. They start searching simple terms out of curiosity and it leads them down wormholes to the point they see different terms and start searching them. It will be your DD i feel certain of it.

LynetteScavo · 10/09/2018 19:41

I just asked DH why a straight married man would Google such things in the middle of the night. He laughed a lot and said "Because he's going to spam his gay friend from work." HmmConfusedHmm

BadderWolf · 10/09/2018 19:41

If your laptop is signed into Google automatically, and so is your DHs phone, then the Google default is to synchronise search terms through all Google accounts...he could have looked using his phone in ed then the search terms automatically shown up via the laptop with no need to have got out of bed and switched the laptop on...ditto DDs etc.

Tinkie25 · 10/09/2018 19:41

Good idea to speak to your DH. I’d suspect it was your older DD.

pandarific · 10/09/2018 19:42

Can you search for tumblr and deviantart op? That's where most fandom stuff happens nowdays I believe, so she could have come across some NSFW stuff on there and followed down the rabbit hole. it were all yahoo groups and livejournal in my day #oldpersoninfandomalert

I'd be surprised if it's you eldest as I'd be surprised if a 12year old girl would want to watch two men having sex. I reckon it's DH and if it is u need find out what he's up to!

LynetteScavo · 10/09/2018 19:44

I can totally imagine a 13yo hearing about such things at school and Googling out of curiosity, so she wasn't the only one who knew what they were talking about.

But the middle of the night and in your lap top....do you have parental settings in her laptop which mean she couldn't access it, and so she needed to get hold of your laptop?

MeganBacon · 10/09/2018 19:45

I think it's DH because teenagers just don't wake up in the middle of the night - they sleep like babies.

AnnieOH1 · 10/09/2018 19:49

I've not read the whole thread so apologies if this has already been covered, but have you recently sold anything that has internet access that may have been left logged into Google? All our devices are logged into one account which shares the search history to the google account iyswim.
