I'm struggling at the moment with MH issues that are refusing to let up and part of that is I'm struggling to see the good in the world.

It must exist so I'm asking MN to help me to see it.

So far today I have,

the lovely person who sent me a lovely pm today,
the patient at the pharmacy who went and picked up my meds for me so I didn't need to struggle and,
the person who told me they care.

So, what's yours?

I’ve been out and bought the ingredients for Christmas cake and mincemeat. Will soak the fruit today and bake tomorrow. It’ll be our first time hosting Christmas rather than going to parents or in laws, and the first year the baby will be big enough to taste things and join in with the excitement. Really looking forward to making the kitchen smell all spicy and festive.

I’m a bit broke and just wandered round Lidl panicking about the cost of my weekly shop, then though sod it and chucked in some bacon to make DS happy. Came in £5 under budget, which I know isn’t a lot to loads of people, but means loads to me! I’m so chuffed :)

I managed to just get out to get some milk which I forgot yesterday still feeling ill (ive got tonsillitis) so it took a lot.

DD's home! And she remembered her school bag!

redwineandcrisps · 07/10/2018 21:40

Bless you honey, well done on getting out. My good thing of the day, was getting out for a walk this morning with Ds. We just chucked on trackie bottoms, I dry shampooed my hair and didn’t bother with make up, and it felt good to just be in the fresh air. Lots of people said hi and nodded at us, it just felt very positive.

Do you have supplies in for a few days now Becca? I really hope the tonsillitis passes soon for you lovely Flowers

MinaPaws · 07/10/2018 23:07

Got a stinking cold and had to work most of the day. But DS1 just made me a lemsip and brought it to me in bed.

Becca19962014 · 08/10/2018 00:15

No supplies as no space and must go out every day for medication anyway. Managed to get to hospital and get help tonight for tonsillitis, very upsetting though.

How are you feeling tonight Becca? Flowers

redwineandcrisps · 08/10/2018 20:25

My good thing of the day, was meeting my mum for a coffee. I haven’t spoken to her in a few months, we have a difficult relationship, but it was lovely to see her.

Becca19962014 · 08/10/2018 20:27

Panicky. I managed an appointment first thing but had a horrendous night and couldn't rest at all today, I tried but just spent an hour in bed with thoughts racing about not getting better and worrying. Which I know is a waste of energy. Considering phoning nhsdirect but not sure.

Today, I got to my appointment.

Lovely that’s a brilliant achievement to get to your appointment. You aren’t well and haven’t slept - no wonder you are feeling panicky, it’s a lot to deal with on top of everything. Tomorrow is another day, just keep breathing and taking it one step at a time Flowers

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/10/2018 10:42

I've ordered hyperactive DS2 a wine coloured weighted blanket, not for Christmas, just because it might help him sleep in past 5.15, and DS1 a Lego eGift card, which is for Christmas.

Becca19962014 · 09/10/2018 12:46

Got some food. Dropped most of it on the floor and someone kindly picked it all up for me. I was so grateful for their help and the people who helped me over the road and the person who got some of my shopping from the now impossible place it's been put (behind other stuff, very narrow gap impossible if physically disabled to get it).

I've just managed to fit 2 sets of uniform, 2 sets of pyjamas, a PE kit, a swimming kit and a teddy bear on the line. #parentingwin

Becca19962014 · 11/10/2018 00:18

Well done philimena

After a day (literally) of struggling due to tonsillitis and heat (been hot here again today) I went to the shop.

Well done Becca.

MinaPaws · 11/10/2018 10:15

First day out of bed after a really heavy cold yesterday. Managed to wash the bedding and dry it on the line, go for a walk in the sunshine and do a half day at work.

Becca19962014 · 11/10/2018 11:31

I got an appointment with my GP this afternoon.

OP posts:
Becca19962014 · 11/10/2018 22:10

I went to see my GP and got new meds (though I'm scared to take them).
Got some food.

Yay, go Becca.

I saw a lovely family who have been very kind to me and chatted to them.

  1. I've done SO MUCH WORK TODAY. I'm freelance and normally a bit of a slacker 😆 but I quit my part-time/safety-net job last week and it's given me the motivation I needed to knuckle down on my own stuff.

  2. Took DS2 to Costa for tea today as a treat. It was just us, and I taught him how to do the crossword. We had such a good laugh together. I find him really easy company.

  3. I weighed myself with a feeling of dread as I've been really hopeless at WW the past 2 weeks. Discovered I've lost 2.5lbs! That totally reinspired me and I've eaten like Posh Spice ever since.

SneakyGremlins · 11/10/2018 23:12

A brilliant mumsnetter sent me a heated throw so I'm toasty and warm!

LanguidLobster · 11/10/2018 23:20

Oh that's brilliant sneaks - you have an MN mum!!

Becca19962014 · 11/10/2018 23:32

sneaky that's lovely!
