Betty in Mad Men - just no need, it was the end of the series and unrealistic for a young woman to die of lung cancer

Cordelia in Angel - think they did this to get back at the actress for getting pregnant, the death was so senseless and ruined the long term story arc

Mark in ER - could he not have had a happy ending on that beach? Also it was such a rare condition.

Meg in Home and Away - this made teenage death seem so real

Chris in Stand By Me - a bad boy made good surely he was due good karma and a long life?

Luke and Han in Star Wars - just done for shock value

No one ever dies of dementia in films or tv!

Anya from Buffy. She was my favourite.

Fred from Angel. This was too much and broke my heart. I sometimes wake up in the night and feel sad about this Blush

Bullnoway · 07/09/2018 22:26

Will in The Good Wife. I've watched it a couple of times and each time I hope that it won't happen. Sad

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/09/2018 22:27

Billy Lloyd Foxe from Jilly Cooper. Loved him

Billy Shock Which book was it (I was dipping in and out of Wicked , Pandora and the one with the racehorse but none gripped me . .)

KatharineHilbery · 07/09/2018 22:27

Matthew in Downton.

shutlingsloe · 07/09/2018 22:27

Damon in Brookside.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 07/09/2018 22:27

YY, Poussey!

I really struggled with that one. Lots of the others mentioned on this thread I could shrug and think, ok, but so what, just a TV series. That one just felt so nasty and especially with OITNB being so influential - I just felt they'd silenced one of the voices and characters who was such an important part of the show, and it became one step closer to misery-porn and gratuitous violence.

But, erm, more shallowly, Kara in Battlestar. Noooo!

Justgivemesomepeace · 07/09/2018 22:28

Donna in Mamma Mia 😞

YellowLily · 07/09/2018 22:28

Another one for Derek Shepherd - most traumatic episode of TV ever Sad

snowplop · 07/09/2018 22:28

Danielle in EastEnders. I gave up watching after that. In retrospect the writers did me a favour I suppose but at the time I was incensed.

LadyFairfaxSake · 07/09/2018 22:29

Cayde 6

Gazelda · 07/09/2018 22:30

Just Donna?! Really?! ShockShockShockShockShock

LRDtheFeministDragon · 07/09/2018 22:32

I was quite pleased Derek died TBH. There was nowhere else for the relationship to go and it had got very boring.

3catsandcounting · 07/09/2018 22:34

Wilson, Friday Night Dinner. 🐶

tigercub50 · 07/09/2018 22:37

What is OITNB?

shivbo2014 · 07/09/2018 22:37

Bea Wentworth Prison!

Flashingbeacon · 07/09/2018 22:39

Well I just spoiled a bunch of stuff for myself dammit.
But Lucy in ER, could Carter not just had a series of love? I don’t count all that late nonsense.
