Betty in Mad Men - just no need, it was the end of the series and unrealistic for a young woman to die of lung cancer

Cordelia in Angel - think they did this to get back at the actress for getting pregnant, the death was so senseless and ruined the long term story arc

Mark in ER - could he not have had a happy ending on that beach? Also it was such a rare condition.

Meg in Home and Away - this made teenage death seem so real

Chris in Stand By Me - a bad boy made good surely he was due good karma and a long life?

Luke and Han in Star Wars - just done for shock value

No one ever dies of dementia in films or tv!

Edie Britt in Desperate Housrwives.

FantastikRik · 07/09/2018 23:54

Elvis in Our Girl.

BreakWindandFire · 08/09/2018 00:06

The entire cast of Blake's 7 in the final episode. Ruined Christmas for 7 year old me. Grin

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/09/2018 00:17

Stringer Bell in The Wire

But the story line was excellent

NobodyToVoteForNow · 08/09/2018 00:23

I was actually more upset about Omar dying in The Wire. Just why, Lord, why?

SneakyGremlins · 08/09/2018 00:27

Gideon from Criminal Minds and Kate from NCIS!

IamAporcupine · 08/09/2018 00:28

I came to say Nicholas Brody in Homeland. I mean I understand why but it took me a long time to get over it,
but then I saw your post @NeepNeepNeep - and yes, Peter Queen Sad

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 00:31

Yes Omar I wanted him to survive.

It wasn’t even just that he died but his death was so pathetic and pointless.

Now I've never seen TWD but isn't Carl the main character? How do you kill the main guy off?

BeetlebumShesAGun · 08/09/2018 00:33

Joyce Summers. Tara and Anya in Buffy. Two of the deaths did serve to move the series along, but my god they were hard. The third, I know Emma Caulfield asked to be killed off but I cried so hard when Anya died.

Fred Weasley. He is/was my favourite character in the books. Can’t stand the twins in the film. I sobbed when I read his death.

MakeMeAFloozy · 08/09/2018 00:35

Nicholas Brody in homeland - it just wasn't the same after that.
Matthew in Downton Abbey

ChishandFips33 · 08/09/2018 00:36

Peter Quinn from Homeland

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2018 00:40

Another one for Nigel in The Archers.

Data in Star Trek

I'd forgotten about Rachel in Cold Feet, but yes.

Someone mentioned Wash in firefly... well, yes, but I wish more that the stupid network hadn't killed off the whole series! (Similar sentiments with Trip/ST Enterprise)

gluteustothemaximus · 08/09/2018 00:40

No need for Will to die in The Good Wife. They were meant to end up together.

No need for Mike Delfino to die in desperate housewives. No need, Marc Cherry, no need!!!!!!

still haven't got over it

yorkshireyummymummy · 08/09/2018 00:42

Riggs in the rebooted series of Lethal weapon.

Sirius Black- WHY jk WHY.??

Mike Delfino in Desperate housewives ( and Edie Britt)

Carl King in Emmerdale.

Charlie Harper in two and a half men

All of the characters who bought it in Torchwood.

Ginxed · 08/09/2018 00:49

Yes to Damon and Wilson!

Pierre in Spiral

thornyhousewife · 08/09/2018 00:52

Mike Ehmantraut from Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad.

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/09/2018 00:54

John in the Archers. I stopped listening after that. So cruel.

Matthew in Downton was a bummer too, but not in the same way.

Dumbledoresgirl · 08/09/2018 00:56

Oh, of course, Dumbledore in Harry Potter. I realise a hero needs to go it alone to achieve heroic status, but Dumbledore was by far and away my favourite character.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2018 00:57

Fran in the Shetland series

Eh? Was she in the books the tv series is based on, she never was in that was she?

All those Harry Potter deaths ... Lupin and TonksSad

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 08/09/2018 00:57
