Betty in Mad Men - just no need, it was the end of the series and unrealistic for a young woman to die of lung cancer

Cordelia in Angel - think they did this to get back at the actress for getting pregnant, the death was so senseless and ruined the long term story arc

Mark in ER - could he not have had a happy ending on that beach? Also it was such a rare condition.

Meg in Home and Away - this made teenage death seem so real

Chris in Stand By Me - a bad boy made good surely he was due good karma and a long life?

Luke and Han in Star Wars - just done for shock value

No one ever dies of dementia in films or tv!

@elQuintoConyo Grin at "Jake Bellend". He might well be the hottest character I've ever hated!

LoisEinhorn · 10/09/2018 10:09

Jeffrey in the Grant County serious of books by Karin Slaughter

elQuintoConyo · 10/09/2018 10:46

Queen Grin

The actor actually comes across as an arrogant humour-less dicksplat in interviews. There's one youtube clip i saw of him and Tony Goldwyn rubs thighs interviewing each other. They talk about how they proposed to their wives - ATROCIOUS!

Another vote for Nigel in The Archers. Would have been an idea opportunity to highlight the poor facilities for wheelchair bound persons. - and can you imagine the fun Nigel would have got up to trying to motorise his wheelchair, take it up on the treetops walkway etc. etc.

vampirethriller · 10/09/2018 11:05

Hershel in The Walking Dead. Xena, in Xena:Warrior princess.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/09/2018 11:08

Yes, ariela, though maybe that storyline would be better with someone with normal levels of money and housing

PhilomenaButterfly · 10/09/2018 14:38

Nigel's dead? I haven't listened to The Archers in years. What happened?

ShatnersWig · 10/09/2018 14:57

He fell off a roof. I've never listened to the Archers since.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 10/09/2018 16:25

Billie in Eastenders! Can’t beleive no one’s mentioned that. Alcohol poisoning as he celebrated going into the army (?) the day after.

Also Roxy’s baby. And Debbie. Haven’t watched it in a long time.

Lucy and Mark in ER. I’ve just watched most of Grey’s Anatomy and it’s not a patch on ER. I’m going to start a re-watch soon.

Joe from Medium. Omg. Spoils the whole show, I never watch that episode when I re-watch.

The deaths in TWD and FTWD are great. I don’t mean this to sound as morbid as it does, but when people die for no reason except ‘shit happens’ I think it’s really great. Like it could have been any of them but it was Glen. Like that one that fell out the window in Sex and the City Grin

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 10/09/2018 16:26

In fact fact shedloads of patient deaths in ER. I’ll never forget the woman working two jobs whose baby died from the speed in her breastmilk. Or the fireman who died from chemical burns.

Thatsajokeright · 10/09/2018 16:30

Bobby in supernatural. I missed him so much!

PhilomenaButterfly · 10/09/2018 16:43

Oh poor Nigel! 😭

Sarahandduck18 · 10/09/2018 17:55

Oh yes the chemical burn man who wabdoes escrow talk to his estranged daughter- that was a tearjerker!

And the funeral for Anspaugh’s son where they played Green Day.

There are lots of ER episodes I have to skip!

I couldnt stand Dobby ! Was glad to see the back of him !
I only wish Gollum and JarJar Binks had followed suit ! Well Gollum did but not til the end .
I have a thing about irritating animated characters !

Gersemi · 10/09/2018 20:00

I hated Dobby till I heard the Stephen Fry audiobook, where he managed to make Dobby really endearing. Likewise Tonks, for whom he assigned a Jane Horrocks accent that worked really well.

PhilomenaButterfly · 11/09/2018 10:26

Dobby's a very sad character. I know people like that. I tend to be impatient with them, which doesn't help.

JoeElliotsMullet · 11/09/2018 11:08

Billy Lloyd-Foxe, Jilly how could you?
Bonnie and Melly from Gone With The Wind
Beth from Little Women
Mog. WAAAAAAAH
Fred Weasley is the HP death that hurts the most. I don't know why - maybe it's because I discovered on Pottermore that I'm the same age as him and George.
Everyone at the end of Blackadder Goes Forth. I know why, obviously, and it made them all suddenly go from being outrageous comic caricatures to real human beings, so again, WAAAAAAAAH.

Loyaultemelie · 11/09/2018 11:30

Shane and Casey in Home and Away
Kate in Heartbeat
Mark Greene

TheHulksPurplePanties · 11/09/2018 11:37

Harry Potter series:

Severus Snape
Fred Weasley
Lupin and Tonks

Stephen King's the Stand:
Nick Andros
Larry Underwood

Star Trek Discovery:
Captain Gabriel Lorca

Breaking Bad:
Walter White

There's so many more but I can't remember...

TwoBlueShoes · 11/09/2018 11:53

Of all the Harry Potter deaths, Harry’s actually got me the hardest. How he realizes Dumbledore was using him the whole time. It’s the bit where he asks if it hurts. It always makes me cry.

TheHulksPurplePanties · 11/09/2018 11:56

Of all the Harry Potter deaths, Harry’s actually got me the hardest.

Yeah, you don't think of that one as technically he didn't die. But JK did write that part fairly well. His coming to terms with the fact that he's got to die as he walks from Dumbledore's office to Voldemort was really sad.

MipMipMip · 11/09/2018 12:53

Just had to read the plot of the last episode of Medium. 《Sniffle》Sad

londonmummy1966 · 11/09/2018 13:16

Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2018 13:17

Captain Gabriel Lorca

Oh, I thought that was great, and anyway there's a fair chance he won't stay dead.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/09/2018 13:19

Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid's Tale

Are we sure she was dead?
