Is the West side of anything always better? (lighthearted)

So i'm musing about life and suddenly it strikes me that a lot of 'west side' things seem to be better than the other parts.....or is it?

West Dundee is better than North and East Dundee
West of England is richer than the North (in term of prospects)
West facing gardens are better than North, east and South (more sunshine
The ‘West end’ is more exciting than other parts of London
The Western part of the world is more developed than other parts.
West London is richer than other parts of London
West Korea is better than North Korea
West Germany was better than East Germany
Western Zimbabwe hosts some of the countries best tourist attractions.

Please help prove or disprove my theory by adding on your own West's that are better than..(it can be the west of anything).

The West of Scotland is far superior to the East

West Side Story is better than Eastenders

south facing garden is the most desirable as it gets most sun.

I didn't really rate west Crete at all. east much better.

West Trumpton was better than downtown Chigley.

You are reaching a bit on some of these.

West of England is richer than the north. Well maybe, but not nearly as rich as the south-east.

West Korea is better than North Korea. The Westernmost part of Korea is in the North, so how does that work?

And south facing gardens are the best so that is just plain wrong.

West wittering has a sandy beach, East wittering does not.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is better than the West Rim. Most people who visit Vegas go to the West Rim as it’s closer but the South Rim is spectacular!

Yellowstone is better than West Yellowstone (mostly because Yellowstone is the actual park and West Yellowstone is a town just outside!)

Everyone is better than Kanye West (in my opinion!!)

I read somewhere that the south of most countries share certain characteristics, and the north of most countries share certain characteristics.

I'm thinking of the west of IReland where I would like to buy a huge house by the sea.

My contribution other than the above is:

Wind from the west, the fish bite the best; Wind from the north, few sailors set forth; Wind from the south blows bait in their mouth. ... The west wind was blowing right before a big storm rolled in, and they were biting!

The west of Ireland is much nicer than the east

West life were better than Boyzone.

There's actually a reason behind it.

When our cities & towns had lots of manufacturing & therefore factories, the smoke from the factories blew mostly east, and therefore the West End of any city was always where the most affluent of properties were built, because the air was cleaner.

Oh, and some of those houses on Perth Road in Dundee are stunning

West/South facing garden is a matter of personal taste. A lot of people prefer West because you have sun all afternoon.

What Houseof said... the prevailing wind in th UK blows all the smog and pollution from west to east. West End in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee are all lovely compared to the other side of the cities :-)
